Companies and organizations still deploying the older protocol should upgrade to NTLMv2. Re: problem with configuring wifi by CL
Adel, it looks that you see the network Your wlan0 interface should be up by default (double check using ifconfig wlan0) Once you know that wlan0 is up by default (/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/wlan0.cfg) Try: iwconfig wlan0 mode Managed iwconfig wlan0 essid globalnet dhclient wlan0 You should receive an ip address proven that you or your sysadmin have configured your dhcp to assign addresses to any device on the network. This should connect you. After that you might need to share that connection with other devices but that's another story. If I want to connect my phone I don't go through my PC but directly to my wireless router. I would advice you to use network-manager it's pretty straightforward and you don't need to be root. users@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe or change subscription options: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/users Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines Have a question? Re: Moodle on Fedora 16
Ester, On And now, into the other question - using a subfolder in /home as the data folder for moodle I'll try to read some more, I think it has something to do with http not being allowed to show user directories, but we'll see. You would need to configure your apache config file with /home/moodle/ instead of the default /var/www directory. After that you just chcon recursively the whole directory so it matches the selinux settings of /var/www. Regarding Roger's statement Clients are more important. He's right not in the sense that a cutting edge system is problematic but in that you need stability reliability. I would go with CentOS, Scientific Linux or Debian. Any of them have longer life support than cutting edge systems. Re: f15 :: how to activate the network to start at boot
Take it easy, it's just a common thing, as root run: chkconfig network on service network start The first one will make sure that the network service starts every time you boot the machine the second will start it immediately if you haven't done so. A few years ago I myself get rid of Network Manager used only the iwconfig tool ( I wrote down a little script) to connect to my home work. Right now is more reliable so I don't know what could be your scenario. Regarding system-config-services don't worry about it. Use chkconfig it's simple, faster more reliable. Just read man 8 chkconfig and you'll get it in no time. Do you have a dns cache server ? if yes, clear the cache. dig fqdn dig ipaddr Do you have IPv6 enabled ? Try to disable it and see. Re: Playing .mov files in Fedora
Yes, you can do it that way and then you create a symlink to it: #as root after you did untar that packaged rename the directory codecs: ln -s codecs win32 #or if you untarred it renamed the directory win32 then: ln -s win32 codecs #either way will work. I got used to the way I told you before but later other instructionals mentioned the directory as /usr/lib/codecs but since I learned the old way as rename them /usr/lib/win32 (as per the xine site instructions) I started creating the soft link codecs to it It's works either way, regards. -- users mailing list users@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe or change subscription options: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/users Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines
Re: Playing .mov files in Fedora
Jim, I have no idea why I they won't play. I have the same configuration play *.mov file. Try to see where the xine options are pointing by right clicking check show controls a window will pop up. Under the gui tab change configuration level to Expert click the apply button. The other Tabs will come up with options to configure. Once this happens. Click the decoder tab make sure that path to Win32 codecs is: /usr/lib/codecs or /usr/bin/win32. If not change it to the first one (if you made the link) it will work anyway. Play it with: xine --verbose filename.move 2 xineerror.tx You will have a log on while it failed. Now you can start google. I remember a few months ago I was getting something similar like: xdg-screensaver: Window 56624079 does not exist I google it if I well remember it was something related to my X server settings. I thing it was on higher resolution. I changed I thing to 1024x756 or so after that I was able to play the movies. Google you will find the answers. Delete the old entries post what you get on your error file the solution if you find it for other people to use. That's the beauty of Linux if come across issues there's always someone who might come across them before will give you a hand.
