If you have good (cheap and fast) internet connectivity, try out live spins of both f11 and f12 to see if things work for you. If both work, f12 will be supported longer and will probably be a better choice. You can do that without messing up your current installation. You also may want to consider alternate distributions. If your main interest is playing media, Fedora may not be the best distribution to use. actually .. i am a engineering student .. i have to do mainly programming and related things.. so i think fedora would be gud ! If you have no hardware specific requirements to stay on F11, I would recommend moving to F12 if not for anything else just to save you trouble from another upgrade at the time of release for F13. I do a fair bit of programming (C++, Python, some Fortran), watch movies and play 3D games on my F11 desktop at home. Too bad I have to use Ubuntu at the lab. :-\ Prabhakar Pandey GL PS: please do not top post, please read the list guidelines. -- Suvayu Open source is the future. Graphics actually work better in F12 than F11 for my Radeon 9200SE (r2xx series) and just as well for the Intel GM965 on my laptop. This is very much hardware-specific. Video, sound, 3D and other problems No problem on three systems running F12. 1 32 bit, 2 64 bit. The only problem with 3D is the Nouveua driver not supporting 3D. I have nVidia cards in all machines. Suspend on the one laptop is an issue. I have F11 on one machine that is having more problems that the F12. I will be upgrading to see if the problem is still there. -- Robin Laing -- users mailing list users@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe or change subscription options: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/users Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Communicate/MailingListGuidelines

Kevin Kofler If you have an Intel video chip and want to use the features of the chipset, then F12. The intel driver, version 2.9.0 (and 2.9.1) provided by F12 turns back on xvmc which had been turned off since about the 2.6 version, and fixed a number of other problems. Works great on my Thinkpad X-61S. I can play high def video on it now which I could not do with F10 or F11. G. -- Please let me know if anything I say offends you.
