Thank you; there were hundreds. "rpm -qva --last" still works too :-)

It turned out the problem was some corrupt ~/.local/gnome-shell entry,
so it worked after removing that directory.

Hi,
I noticed the problem apparently only exists with my current user.
Starting as root does not have the same problem.

I renamed ~/.local and Xorg now starts.

Looks like some kind of weird compatibility issue between one version
of some gnome program and another.

I thought fedora was more resilient than that by now...
