The vlc thing is much more than a timing issue.

Fedora's vlc "new" packaging is widely incompatible to RPMFusion's and
breaks existing installations.

It appears that Fedora packagers have made changes to the gstreamer

Does Fedora have a requirement and process to provide a "heads up" to

For Fedora, I know an updated package will go to testing, and if all

inform projects like RPMFusion that a change is taking place, and they
should build, test and prepare to release new binaries? And is a week

The NVidia drivers just have a lot of problems in general. akmods help,
but kernel changes break them regularly. That's the price you pay for
using proprietary drivers.

being included in a KDE change.

This accusation is being thrown around, as some sort of malicious action. It

delays in packages being released during a period when many people are spending

Just to be clear, I didn't attribute any malice to this, merely lack of
communication. And actually, I should have checked the rpmfusion koji
before commenting on that as well. There are builds done, but not fully
pushed, so it's merely a timing issue between the two repos.

On what basis?

Not everybody uses RPMFusion, and there's absolutely nothing in the
Fedora guidelines about RPMFusion. Someone opened a BZ that said "hey,
looks like these things are now legal, can they be enabled", and after
checking what was legal, things were enabled.

See https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2023-d9bca05694 . The
problem is that the gstreamer1-plugins-bad-freeworld and
gstreamer1-plugins-ugly from RPMFusion haven't yet been updated to be
compatible, though they have been built and signed and are waiting to be pushed
stable. If you want you can download the signed packages from
https://koji.rpmfusion.org/packages/gstreamer1-plugins-bad-freeworld/1.22.8/1.fc39/data/signed/d651ff2e/
 and
https://koji.rpmfusion.org/packages/gstreamer1-plugins-ugly/1.22.8/1.fc39/data/signed/d651ff2e/
now, or just remove gstreamer1-plugins-bad-freeworld and
gstreamer1-plugins-ugly and then wait for RPMFusion to push the stable updates.
