g, i'm getting number of error messages that Scripts are not Starting.

ok.

i will/must admit that i am not versed on all of how/what
Browser Console messages relate to.

the few times i have used it, i was able to swag my way thru
and come up with a solution.

unfortunately, mozilla does not have a page relating
Browser Console and i have yet to find any site that does.

therefore, i suggest you take problem to mozilla's support-firefox
list to see if there is anyone there with some knowledge about
Browser Console.

a couple question first: [do not recall if already asked, too
lazy to look back thru thread ;-) ]

is this problem related in any way to an add-on to firefox or
chrome?

did you try starting with add-ons disabled?

it is interesting that it happens to both firefox and chrome,
which indicates that what is wrong is common to both. ie, a
bad add-on, or 2 conflicting add-ons.

because it happened before 35.0 and updating did not help could
well be because of a common add-on.

is this problem related in any way to an update or upgrade to
fedora?

i wish i could be of more help, but i do know my limits. :-(

i have been trying to find some js errors on my system, but as of

i decided to play with the errors that i did have. my recall kick
in about one of the things that i used to find where i was having
problems.

some of the errors showed the path to the directory;

file:///home/geo/.mozilla/firefox/bsyq4708.default/extensions/

this is where add-ons are stored.

so, open your 'browser console' again and look thru the logs for any
reference to your extensions.

because the refs are mostly to a coded name, you can find out what
extension it is with firefox window active, press alt+h,t to
open the tab for Troubleshooting Information, and press ctrl+f
to open find bar.

back in 'browser console' window drag cursor across about 10 numbers,
including a - , press ctrl+c.

return to Troubleshooting Information, and press ctrl+f to open
find bar. press ctrl+v to fill search and locate the problem
extension and make note of names.

do this 4 or 5 times, then press ctrl+shift+a to open add-ons page
and disable problem extensions.

close firefox windows, open 'system monitor' window to 'Process Table',
sort on 'Memory'. when you see firefox is fully closed, open it again.

if problem clears, great. if not, repeat above until you have disabled
all extensions that are causing problems.

post back with what you find.

g,Weird as it may be, the things that you pointed out did not help.

So as a last resort, I deleted the ~/.kde folder and LogOut and back in

 Hard Drive runs constantly,

I don't get quite the blockage described in the original post,
but certainly when I start google-chrome for the very first
time after a reboot, it spends vast amounts of time rattling
the disk, which I assume has something to do with all the
cached data it stashed in my home directory since my system
disk is an SSD and doesn't rattle :-).

It takes a long time for the bookmarks and icons in the
bookmark menu entries to show up.

This is starting it with a blank page as the initial
home screen, so no web sites are involved.

Yeah, Chrome has gotten really bad lately (the last few weeks).
Subsequent start-ups go a lot faster as I guess it has cached some of
its stuff in memory. On my machine Firefox starts up faster.
