 Problems gone!

 I've created my own Debian VM image and everything works fine now.
 Seems that the tty image should only be used for a first simple test of ONE.

 the documentation, because I can start many of this small machines on my
 little testbed at the same time.

  But after a couple of tests I have noticed some strange behavior at the
 guest machines: Normally they start fine, they are ping-able and I can
 connect via ssh. But after some time, lets say about 5-10 minutes, my VMs
 do not answer on pings anymore.

  At this point it often helps to use a VNC viewer to login into the VM. When
 this is done the VM normally answers on pings again. So it seems that the
 guest sleeps from time to time?
  After all it also happens that guests freeze completely and are not
 controllable anymore via ssh either via VNC.

  Is it possible that it is the fault of the ttyimage? (I've already checked

 My questions:

In your log there is a Permission denied error on
/var/lib/one/remotes/auth/server_cipher/authenticate. Can you check if
the user running oned has execution permissions on this file?

    * Who is serveradmin? It's the first time I see such a username;

serveradmin is a user used by the servers (EC2, OCCI, Sunstone...) to
authenticate on behalf of other users. You should not authenticate
with this user or change its password, it is a user used by the
system.

You can find the credentials for this user in the following files for
each server
$ ls $ONE_LOCATION/var/.one/
ec2_auth  occi_auth  sunstone_auth

The content of these files should be:
serveradmin:passinplain

So if you changed the serveradmin password using the CLI, oneuser
passwd serveradmin newpassword you have to update those files as
follows:
$ cat sunstone_auth
serveradmin:newpassword

    * Shouldn't I be logging in with oneadmin user, and it's system password
 (the password with which I normally log into my system)?

You have to log in with oneadmin or a different cloud user, but you
never have to use the serveradmin user.

Cheers

Re: [one-users] Urgent: vm+xen

2012-03-07 Thread Steven Timm

This is my template from xen, dom0=sci. linux 5.7, opennebula 2.0
I have a cloud with both KVM and Xen hosts in it.
I would strongly urge you to not use the kernel/initrd approach
and instead use the pygrub option as I have below, with the kernel
stored inside the domU. It is a lot easier to maintain
in the long run. also you still need the kernel installed inside
the domU anyway even if you are using an external vmlinuz/initrd.img
to boot.

If you were using an external vmlinuz/initrd combo then yes the
field would change every time you updated a kernel, unless
you made a symlink or something.

Re: [one-users] opennebula 3.

2012-03-07 Thread Carlos Martín Sánchez
Hi,

You may get more useful information in /var/log/one/oned.log.
The authentication in the CLI works reading the credentials from
~/.one/one_auth. This file is also read the first time opennebula is
started to create the oneadmin user.

This kind of errors usually happen because oneadmin's password is changed
in opennebula but not in the one_auth file, or the other way around.

[one-users] How to create a VM through my OpenNEbula?

2012-03-07 Thread 張德勤
Dear all:

After I installed my ONE system.
There are 2 machines in my system.
one is Server : CentOS 6 + OpenNEbula
the other one is client1 : CentOS 6 + Xen-kernel

And now I want to locate a VM to Client1 through Server.
Here are my steps.
1. I refer this website to install my VM on client1.

http://www.howtoforge.com/virtualization-with-xen-on-centos-6.2-x86_64-paravirtualization-and-hardware-virtualization-p2
 After this step, I get cinmex1.img in my client1.
2. I copy cinemx1.img to /srv/cloud/one/cinmex1 in my ONE server. And
create a cinmex1.one file. The content is following.
 NAME   = cinmex1
 CPU= 1
 MEMORY = 512
 OS = [ kernel = /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32.56-1.el6xen.x86_64,
 initrd =
/boot/initrd-2.6.32.56-1.el6xen.x86_64kdump.img,
 root   = sda2]
 DISK = [ source   = /srv/cloud/one/cinmex1/cinmex1.img,
 clone= no,
 target   = sda2,
 readonly = no]
 DISK = [  type = swap,
 size = 128,
 target   = sda1,
 readonly = no ]
 NIC=[IP=XX.XX.XX.XX, MAC=00:16:01:01:01:01]

3. I command onevm create cinmex1.one, but the VM failed. :(
 [oneadmin@server cinmex1]$ onevm create cinmex1.one
 ID: 6
 [oneadmin@server cinmex1]$ onevm list
  ID USER GROUPNAME STAT CPU MEMHOSTNAME
 TIME
 6 oneadmin oneadmin cinmex1  fail   0  0K
00 00:00:02

My question is how to set the cinmex1.one file??
For example, what content should I set in the OS??
My /boot/grub/menu.lst in client1 is here.

timeout=5
splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz

[one-users] LDAP addon and OpenNebula 3.3.0

2012-03-07 Thread Simon Boulet
Hi,

I have a fresh new installation of OpenNebula 3.3.0. I don't seems to
be able to get the LDAP addon working. I followed all instructions
here: http://opennebula.org/documentation:rel3.2:ldap

I can confirm OpenNebula is NOT running the
/var/lib/one/remotes/auth/ldap/authenticate script. I tried running
the authenticate script manually and can see my LDAP server being hit
with the request.

OpenNebula seems to be picking up the default driver:

Wed Mar  7 22:42:58 2012 [AuM][D]: Message received: AUTHENTICATE
FAILURE 3 Authentication driver 'default' not available
Wed Mar 7 22:42:58 2012 [AuM][E]: Auth Error: Authentication driver

Wed Mar  7 22:42:58 2012 [ReM][E]: [UserPoolInfo] User couldn't be
authenticated, aborting call.

The default is pointing to the ldap driver (as per the documentation above) :

opennebula:/var/lib/one/remotes/auth# ls -la
total 40
drwxr-xr-x 10 oneadmin oneadmin 4096 Mar  7 17:07 .

My .one/one_auth file :

opennebula:~# cat ~/.one/one_auth
someuser:ldap:somepasswd

I did try without the ldap keyword in my one_auth but it doesn't
help (as per the 3.2 documentation it seems the ldap keyword isn't
needed anymore in the one_auth file).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I set up rhel5.3/5.5/5.6 guests.

in virt-manager the rhel5.x img is running normally. But the rhel5.x vm that
created is running very slow.

While I set up another rhel6.1 vm, it is running fast as normal.

1. use virt-manager to install a rhel5.x.img with desktop

2. copy rhel5.x.img to disk.0

3. use deployment.0 to deploy

4. virsh create deployment.0

[one-users] how to recover failed vms

2012-03-07 Thread Siva Prasad

Hi All,

I have a peculiar issues. For some reason if vm is heavily loaded it
goes to unknown state. To recover from unknown state I use restart.
some times the vm gets recovered and sometimes it goes to failed state (
in both cases all the vm files exists on the disk).Below are my queries.

1) How to debug why some times vm goes to failed state and why it
recovers sometimes

2) Is there a way to recover failed vms.

Thanks,
Siva

張德勤 cinmex91...@gmail.com 於 2012年3月8日上午1:21 寫道:

  NAME   = cinmex1
  CPU= 1
  MEMORY = 512
  OS = [ kernel = /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32.56-1.el6xen.x86_64,
  initrd =
 /boot/initrd-2.6.32.56-1.el6xen.x86_64kdump.img,
  root   = sda2]
  DISK = [ source   = /srv/cloud/one/cinmex1/cinmex1.img,
  clone= no,
  target   = sda2,
  readonly = no]
  DISK = [  type = swap,
  size = 128,
  target   = sda1,
  readonly = no ]
  NIC=[IP=XX.XX.XX.XX, MAC=00:16:01:01:01:01]

 3. I command onevm create cinmex1.one, but the VM failed. :(
  [oneadmin@server cinmex1]$ onevm create cinmex1.one
  ID: 6
  [oneadmin@server cinmex1]$ onevm list
   ID USER GROUPNAME STAT CPU MEMHOSTNAME
  TIME
  6 oneadmin oneadmin cinmex1  fail   0  0K
 00 00:00:02

 My question is how to set the cinmex1.one file??
 For example, what content should I set in the OS??
 My /boot/grub/menu.lst in client1 is here.

 default=0
 timeout=5
 splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz
 hiddenmenu
 title CentOS (2.6.32.56-1.el6xen.x86_64)
 root (hd0,0)
 kernel /xen.gz dom0_mem=1024M cpufreq=xen dom0_max_vcpus=4
 dom0_vcpus_pin
 module /vmlinuz-2.6.32.56-1.el6xen.x86_64 ro
 root=/dev/mapper/vg_client1-lv_root rd_NO_LUKS LANG=en_US.UTF-8
 rd_LVM_LV=vg_client1/lv_root rd_NO_MD quiet SYSFONT=latarcyrheb-sun16 rhgb
 crashkernel=128M rd_LVM_LV=vg_client1/lv_swap  KEYBOARDTYPE=pc KEYTABLE=us
 rd_NO_DM
 module /initramfs-2.6.32.56-1.el6xen.x86_64.img

 Someone can help me??
