So I changed jdk to 6, and error is the same.

Are you certain that you are actually using JDK6 when you are running Maven?

Send the output of mvn -v to be sure.

If you are running jdk6, then we need to start asking:
Is this your first time using Maven, or have you used it before with no issues?
Are you behind an Internet web proxy or do you have a wide-open
connection to the Internet?
etc

First would be to simply try again. mvn clean package or whatever you ran.

If that fails, try mvn -U clean package or whatever. If that still
fails, perhaps delete the .m2 folder (which holds the local repo cache
of jar files etc) under your home directory and try once more.

Most likely you have a firewall (or antivirus) issue on Windows.
Disable the firewall or add a rule which permits java.exe to reach out

Assembly Plugin: One descriptor to produce two assemblies, each with its own filter

2012-07-19 Thread Nicky Ramone
Hello

I am finding a limitation with this plugin, and this post in Stack Overflow
describes the problem very well:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2753529/the-maven-assembly-plugin-is-not-using-the-finalname-for-installing-with-attach

Basically, I have an assembly descriptor that filters resources.
I would like to produce two different assemblies, where each one uses the
same descriptor but with a different filter.
Looks like the appendAssemblyId option puts a bit of a constraint because
the names collide when installing in the repo.

Is there any solution that I can take without having to hack a lot?
Are there any plans to deal with these cases?

Thanks a lot!
Cheers.

Use the appendAssemblyId and specify different id for the two
executions. Which is just what you're told to do in the SO post.
Otherwise you will need to make 2 projects, duplicate the assembly
plugin configuration, and specify different artifactIds.

Re: Assembly Plugin: One descriptor to produce two assemblies, each with its own filter

2012-07-19 Thread Nicky Ramone
That wasn't my post at SO but it exactly describes my post.
What I wanted to avoid is the duplication of the assembly descriptor.

Creating 2 projects would add too much complexity. I would have to add one
project per filter that I want to apply (in this case, one per environment).
For now I decided to use a component descriptor describing the main
packaging, and let the assembly descriptors use the component.
It's not the best solution but at least I don't have to duplicate a lot.

Thanks for your help!

Assembly Plugin: Using chosen filters at the assembly

2012-07-19 Thread Nicky Ramone
Hi

While you are able to specify more than one filter in the assembly
configuration in the POM, these filters are applied altogether to the files
selected on the assembly descriptor. What I need is a way to specify
filters for specific parts of the assembly.

For example:
- I have two filters: filter1.properties and filter2.properties
- In my assembly I am including two files: file1.txt and file2.txt
- I would like to apply filter1 to file1.txt and filter2 to file2.txt

I found no way of doing this. Is it possible?

Thanks a lot.
Regards.

Honestly at this point, I have no idea what's wrong, thus can't help
to fix what's not working.

Perhaps spin up a Linux Live CD, install Java and Maven, and see if
you can run mvn clean with no problems. If so, you will need to sort
out what on your machine is actively preventing Java from doing what
it should be able to do.

Laird, can you try the snapshot and see if that fixes the problem?

Sure; which snapshot, now? 1.2-SNAPSHOT could not be found via
oss.sonatype.org or repo1. Not sure what other repo to try?

Re: Release plugin: release project from within subdirectory

2012-07-19 Thread Kalle Korhonen
Thanks Werdex. Using the release plugin version 2.3.2 and it's still
exactly the same, only goalsdeploy -f Sources/pom.xml/goals works
when the pom.xml is not in the root, regardless of pomFileName
setting. Stephen, isn't that exactly why you want to lock down the
plugin versions? I'll take a well-working hack any day over proper but
broken.
