I have added 2.0-beta-2 to the metadata and updated the checksums in the Apache
repo. This will be synced to the central repo in a couple of hours.

Hi Steven,

I am also interested in filtering with the site plugin.
I didn't know that it was possible by renaming the page as mypage.xml.vm.

Is it enough to just renaming the page or do we have to do more ?
Can you post an example or a link for this ?

I am also interested in filtering the site.xml file. Is it possible by renaming
this file as site.xml.vm ?

I tried the solution proposed in
http://www.nabble.com/forum/ViewPost.jtp?post=8305832framed=yskin=177 but I
am not really convinced.

Thanks,

Rémy

Really nice, I will use it as soon as possible.
I think this new feature is very useful and lot of people ask for it.

I am not sure that it is very well known.
It will be great to upgrade the maven-site-plugin website to indicate this
filtering feature.

Thanks,

RE: Trying to run both Archiva and Continuum

2007-08-30 Thread LAMY Olivier
Hi,
Have a look here
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/maven/sandbox/trunk/enterprise/enterprise-runtime/pom.xml
 .

This is a project which build this type of distrib.

Use the correct version for war dependencies
(org.apache.maven.continuum:continuum-webapp and
org.apache.maven.archiva:archiva-webapp).

Look at the plexus.xml file [1] and add a component :

component

  role-hintjettyConfiguration/role-hint

implementationorg.codehaus.plexus.contextualizer.DefaultContextualizer/implementation

I found an email by Arnaud Bailly (Continuum+archiva in same
application) but the information seems out of date.

Giving up on one Plexus instance and a single port number ... how
 about sharing the user database?

I changed the database location in plexus.conf (both in Archiva and
Continuum) and now both Continuum and Archiva use the same database

Continuum but not both. The app that gets started last fails to
 connect to the user database.

I had a look on the Plexus site to see if I could find anything there
(I assume I have to configure Plexus somehow to get this to work) but
 no luck.

Would anyone be able to shed some light on this and/or point me in the

My computer is behind a firewall and I can't change these settings - hence I

Continuum from time to time and see when a build was done.

Another method would be to have an application that checks the email and see
if an email notification arrived (we have email notifications configured,
yes). However, this solution doesn't seem very elegant - I would keep it only
 as the last resort..

RE: How to import all modules of Maven 2 project

2007-08-19 Thread LAMY Olivier
Hi,

Adding support of Maven profiles in adding project won't be so hard.
But does this profile must be added automatically in the build definition ? (in
your case adding -Pallblocks in Arguments)
Can you fill an issue concerning this ?

I don't know if you need a workaround but a simple is to add in the machine you
use in the file ~/.m2/settings.xml :

  activeProfiles
...
activeProfileallblocks/activeProfile
...
  /activeProfiles

I noticed that Continuum can do a mass import of modules by scanning
recursively pom files. That's really nice feature! However, I found
limitation that is quite annoying for me: I can't tell Continuum to
use other than default Maven profile while scanning for modules. In
our pom[2] we have defined most modules in allblocks profile so I can't add
them automatically. Since number of modules is around 230 adding them
 manually is not an option.

 Can you give some advice?

My preference is to make the default setup build everything, (with
activeByDefault or activation based on the absence of a property) and
then rely on the other profiles to build smaller subsets.

We gradually move modules into default build so situation improves but I fear
such a radical change is not an option for us, now.

My first (pre-caffeine) idea for a workaround is to define a minimal
ci-pom.xml and list all the modules. When you add the project to
Continuum, specify that pom, but let the build definition use the
 normal pom.xml. [untested]

That does not solve our problem because our root pom looks like this:
  modules
 moduleblocks/module
 modulecommons/module
 modulecore/module
 moduletools/module
 moduledists/module
 !-- sub projects --
 modulecore/cocoon-configuration/cocoon-configuration-api/module
 modulecore/cocoon-configuration/cocoon-spring-configurator/module

modulecore/cocoon-servlet-service/cocoon-servlet-service-components/module
 modulecore/cocoon-servlet-service/cocoon-servlet-service-impl/module
 modulecore/cocoon-servlet-service/cocoon-servlet-service-sample/module
   /modules

The rest is defined in other poms, so I would have to create recursively
ci-pom.xml files or create one big, aggregated ci-pom.xml files. Second option
is not perfect because it still involves recursive, manual scanning. With help
of little scripting I could build some bash script but I would really like to
avoid doing this.

Emm has also written about the XML-RPC interface, which might be
useful to get these projects added:
 http://www.devzuz.org/blogs/evenisse/2007/08/15/1187191589861.html

This involves writing custom Java app which is even worse IMO.

I'm wondering if adding support for Maven profiles to Continuum would be that
hard?

Thanks for answer.

You're right the workflow to attached installation to a profile is actually
confusing.
It's fixed in trunk.
In beta-2, you will have an other option to automatically create a profile when

I did not fully configure the profile: it had no JDK installation assigned.
This is not very clear in the current documentation.

The logs say: Error while generating mail contents. (Stack trace below)

I can send email from the Linux box continuum is running. I also got emails in

Where should I look to find out what causes the problem?

RE: Continuum 1.1-beta-1 profile does not seem to work

2007-08-09 Thread LAMY Olivier
Hi,

Until the next release, you have to use the following workflow :

Add installation (jdk1.6.0) - Add profile (JDK1.6)-Edit profile-Add the new
installation from list

Here don't use the save button but go the Profile List with the link in the
left menu. [1]

You will see the profile with the attached installation.

Concerning IE, there is an issue it's fixed in trunk [2].

Hi, and sorry to disturb you again,
I see you understood my problem, I can't click on the save button, the NPE
appears before :
Add installation (jdk1.6.0) - Add profile (JDK1.6)-Edit profile-Add the new
installation from list (I try but NPE here)

Am I the only one to have this problem?
I saw that there is a problem with IE, may be I have a problem with Firefox. In
fact, I have some minor problems with the webapp on Firefox:
logos don't appear on the right place and the size of the window is not
optimized whereas it is with IE. I installed Flash Player 8 but nothing has
changed... May be these problems are linked to the NPE? What do you think about
that?

Thanks,Rémi.

Afert adding installations to a profile don't use save but go to the profile

In fact, the workflow is a litte bit confusing here.

I think it's due to CONTINUUM-1361.

Rewrite the end of the workflow ;-)

- Edit profile, add an installation, go to Profiles List

- Firefox
- Login as admin
- Profiles, add profiles, give a name, save
- Edit profile, add an installation, save - NPE

But the profile is there with the installation. Note I never restarted the
service so it's maybe not saved at all (and in a transient cache or something).

Afert adding installations to a profile don't use save but go to
  the profile list page.
In fact, the workflow is a litte bit confusing here.

It will be fixed in beta-2 ( you have patch here :

Concerning IE, it's an issue (I have only tested with Firefox ;-)

Hi,

After installing continuum-1.1-beta-1 last week all went fine and I was very
pleased with the changes and new features.

We just discovered that since a few days we do not get email messages anymore.

The logs say: Error while generating mail contents. (Stack trace below)

I can send email from the Linux box continuum is running. I also got emails in
the beginning. I also restarted the server.

Where should I look to find out what causes the problem?

Hi !
I've just installed Continuum 1.1 beta1 and noticed a strange behaviour
when building my app. The thing is that continuum says it has built correctly,
but the build has failed because a dependency cannot be found in the
repository. See the attached image for this. I had to censor some fields of the
attachment because of confidentiality, but I can say that we're using maven
2.0.7 and a wagon version branched from the version you can see on the on the
screen shot.

Has this happened to some of you guys before ?

Regards

RE: [m2] mvn launch script under cygwin and release-plugin / svn

2007-08-07 Thread LAMY Olivier
It's a know issue (don't remember the id).
A simple workaround is add first in your PATH the windows svn.
If svn is in C:\Subversion\bin.
export PATH=C:\\Subversion\\bin:$PATH
Then release plugin works fine.

Hi,

I'm using the release plugin to release a module.

I've worked around this by changing my PATH to have the Windows SVN binaries
before the Cygwin SVN binaries, but it doesn't feel like a good solution.
export PATH=/cygdrive/c/path/to/svn/binaries/:${PATH}

The other alternative that I considered was to uninstall my svn client from
Cygwin. I guess that would do it too, but is there a better way?

Cheers,

James

Objet : shell execution from 1.1-beta-1

I have a build definition:
Build File /usr/bin/sh
Arguments buildAdmin.sh

It works in alpha and earlier version of continuum. Is the way that the shell
script gets executed changed since beta? I got the following error, and wonder
why continuum is calling /bin/bash at the very beginning

Hi Alexander,

I too just installed to 1.1-beta-1 but didn't have any problems with the
web service. When started Continuum was at http://ip:8080/continuum. Are
you sure the service/daemon is running?
Another thing is did you upgrade or remove 1.0.3 and then install
1.1-beta-1 fresh?

Hi,
I'm happy with the new features in Continuum 1.1 beta about configurations of
different jdk/maven/ant versions and environment variables definition, but I
have a problem: I can't add any installation on a profile.
I created two installations, I can create a profile, I see the combo-box where
appear my two installations but when I click on the add-button, nothing happens!
Do I forget something? (I was on the admin account for all of these
operations)

I'm having problems building 1.1-beta-1 (from tag). The problem is during
surefire test execution - 3 assertions fail within
MavenTwoContinuumProjectBuilderTest. The equality assertions on:

   testCreateProjectsWithModules (line 193)
   testCreateProjectsWithModuleswithParentPomIsntPomXml (line 287)
   testCreateProjectWithoutModules (line 377)

respectively are all receove expectation+1.

I'm really not sure why, and I will look into it later if I get a minute, but
I'm on a Macbook Pro (Mac OS 10.4.10) with Java 1.5.0_07 (Mac Runtime for Java
with Hotspot client VM)

Anyone else encounter this specific issue?

Christian.

RE: deployment

2007-07-25 Thread LAMY Olivier

Share your Deployment Repository Directory in which continuum install (no need
of deploy) artifacts as a snapshot repository.
Add this directory in a apache http server and you will have a snapshot
repository.

Or use the other option with distributionManagement/snapshotRepository.
IMHO, this distributionManagement declaration must be in a profile which will
be use in the continuum build def because it's not a standard dist mngt
declaration.

I'm sure Emmanuel know the exact path ? (Is this information available on the

It looks similar, but I'n not exactly sure. We've only used Ant builds so far,
I'm not familiar with Maven. And I'm not sure how much I can test within our
production environment.

Does your .profile contains some settings related to TZ and/or LC_ ?

No, none.

Maybe, it's related to the CommandLine version of p-u which badly set
envVars (I haven't tested this on the current trunk)

Sorry, I don't follow you here. What is p-u?

Can you test with current continuum trunk ?

I already fetched source from SVN and just looked at it a bit. But I'm not sure
how easy it would be to set that up. I'll have to see (and be carefull not to
mess with our production system). I'll have to see if I have enough time to set
up a separate environment for Continuum testing etc.

When looking at the source I think I saw that when command-line command is
executed, it should log environment variables with 'debug' level. I haven't
seen those variables in any logs with version 1.0.3.. maybe this has been added
later on..?

Objet : System time problem in Solaris 10 environment (Ant + Continuum)

Hi,

We are having strange problem with system time with Continuum in Solaris 10
environment. Easiest way to verify existence of this problem is to add
following block to Ant build script and let Continuum to build/execute it.
exec executable=/usr/bin/date/

What happens is that 'date' reports GMT time and not the correct local time.
This ONLY happens when Ant is executed through Continuum. If same Ant script is
executed as a standalone it reports the corret time.

This problem causes times to differ three hours in ZIP-archives that are
created using Ant's ZIP target. We've tried to enable full DEBUG logs with
Continuum but only thing that's visible is this:
...ShellCommandHelper - Executing:
/usr/local/apache-ant-1.7.0/bin/ant -f Build/continuum-build.xml build.
From that you cannot see what shell is in use or other details that might
matter.

We've also added similar Ant exec calls to execute set, env and id
commands and tried to verify if e.g. TZ variable differs. But all the variables
(LC_*, TZ) are same.

Any ideas how to solve this or how to find out where exactly the problem is?
Our guess is that it's related to way Continuum executes Ant as a shell command.

Hi,
Have a look at plexus-naming [1] which can certainly help.

Configure a component as this [2], add this component in loadOnStartup.

Note : Your testCase must extends PlexusTestCase.

Hi,

In my database access (using) hibernate
i define the usage of the datasource by jndi.

But i don't know how to inject the datasource in the jndi context nor how to
inject the jndi context in the testCase.setup method.

Any help is welcome.

Hi all,

I'm was getting the same problem.

Nathan, did you get a fix for this problem?

I found that the CI I'm using (Bamboo) wasn't displaying that I was actually
being prompted for a password. I didn't discover this until I tried running
the it directly from the commandline.

I had previously setup a private key for deploying to my repository, but for
some reason when I try and specify username/password and/or
privateKey/passphrase under server in my settings.xml file maven still wants
to prompt me for a password to deploy.

When I removed all references to username/password and/or privateKey/passphrase
it works fine.

I left id, filePermissions and directoryPermissions there so I can make use of
them and everything still works fine.

I hope someone finds this useful.

Cheers,

Aaron

RE: release plugin lifecycle binding

2007-04-18 Thread LAMY Olivier
Hi,
No it's not a maven phase.
What is your use case ?
You need to made something with the generated artifact ?

Maybe you can invoke the maven-release-plugin with this :
-Dgoals=deploy,my:my-goal (or add the configuration in your pom) (you need to
have my.group in your pluginGroups/pluginGroup in your settings).

I have this in my company (in order to commit some artifacts war,ear to a svn

Hello,

I want to bind a custom plugin goal to a phase in the maven-release-plugin's
lifecycle, but when I attempt to do so, the binding appears to be ignored:

  build
plugins
  plugin
groupIdmy.group/groupId
artifactIdmy-maven-plugin/artifactId

In the above example, I'm attempting to bind to the scm-commit-release
phase, which I see defined in maven-release-plugin's components descriptor [1].
But when I run mvn release:prepare, my-maven-plugin:my-goal is not invoked.

Is this not possible? I'm using Maven v2.0.6 with maven-release-plugin
v1.0-alpha-1.

Thanks,

Objet : Using the assembly plugin to package up WARs and ZIPs

I'm trying to use the assembly plugin to package up WARs from a bunch of
sub-projects. My goal is to get a target/release.zip after running mvn
package from the top-level directory.

I have this working when I run mvn package assembly:assembly, but I'd like to
make it work for mvn package of my root pom.xml. Is it possible to use an
execution to make this work?

2ndly, I'm using the assembly plugin to zip up static content in my WARs so it
can be deployed to an external webserver. I have it working (details at
http://www.nabble.com/Re%3A-Packaging-up-images-p9699901s177.html), but 1) I
can't get one WAR to depend on these zipped artifacts and 2) I can't figure out
how to get the top-level assembly to include the zip files.

Currently, there are zip files created by an assembly in each WAR project. In
an ideal world, I could combine these into one static-content.zip in the zip
that's produced by the root assembly. Here's the bin.xml I'm using for my
top-level assembly:

assembly
  idbin/id
  formats
formatzip/format
  /formats
  includeBaseDirectoryfalse/includeBaseDirectory
  moduleSets
moduleSet
  includes
includecom.company:webapp1:war/include
includecom.company:webapp2:war/include
  /includes
  binaries
outputDirectory/outputDirectory
unpackfalse/unpack
  /binaries
/moduleSet
  /moduleSets
/assembly

Thanks,

Matt

I tried just calling a 'new Prompter()', but then the internals are still

Could somebody tell me how to best initialize the Prompter so that I can work

Hello,

I have tried several times to build Archiva from sources but each time, I am
unable to resolve all dependencies so I have given up.

How far is the Archiva project from releasing a binary build?

Thanks,

Hi,

I sat down to work today and have blown a few hours trying to debug a project

  spring (https://svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/springframework/repos/repo/),
  mergere (http://repo.mergere.com/maven2)

spring-context-2.4.1? Spring just had a highly popular 2.0 release and the
2.4.1 makes no sense.

This compiled and tested fine yesterday now my dependencies are all messed up.

Has this happened to anyone today?

another plugin execution.

Marco,
Since I need a short-term fix for this week's release, I think I'll use your
ant xslt task idea. What execute phase should I set for this to execute
every time before the changes plugin is executed during the site generation?

Thanks for responding so quickly,

 Hello,
my 2 cents ant has an xslt task, you could use maven antrun
 plugin to run it

will that be a possible solution?

 Subject: Maven XSLT Plugin Question

I have an application that using XML to define the features added to
each release version. I wrote an XSLT to convert this XML into the
changes plugin XML format. This allows me to have the same
information in the application and the generated site, but the XSLT
execution is a manual step. I have a couple of ideas for a solution,
but I'm not sure what is available.

 1. Does the changes plugin allow a mapping XSL to be included to
convert a different XML into a changes plugin?
 2. If not, is there plugin to executes XSL transforms during the site
 cycle?
 3. If not, can an ant script be setup to run before the changes plugin?
Or is there a pre-site cycle that it can be executed.

If you have a different idea, I would be interested in hearing it.
Especially if the ant script is the only solution, since it seems
hackish to call java with a Saxon jar to transform during the site
 generation.

 Thanks for the help,
 -Nate

Objet : Display the failed test from surefire

I am fairly new to maven2. After I run mvn test I see output like:

Compiling 1 source file to /home/smore/wip/hello/target/test-classes
[INFO] [surefire:test]
[INFO] Setting reports dir: /home/smore/wip/hello/target/surefire-reports

---
 T E S T S
---
[surefire] Running HelloTest
[surefire] Tests run: 3, Failures: 1, Errors: 0, Time elapsed: 0.05 sec
 FAILURE !!
[INFO]

Then on failure I have to manually:
grep 'FAILURE' /home/smore/wip/hello/target/surefire-reports/HelloTest.txt
to see that testHello2 actually failed.

Can this be automated by some plugin to display the name of the test that
actually failed ?

-Thanks

RE: M2 release plugin snapshot version does not handle new development d

2006-10-04 Thread LAMY Olivier
As kenney said not unless perhaps you explicitly tell the release plugin to do
so.

I have asked this in my proposal patch [1].
parameter called rewriteReactorsWithNextDev (true/false) in prepare mojo (true
by default ?).
But no response.

Or an other parameter name instead of this huge one ;-).

Dependencies should be updated manually, since changing versions might
 break things.

If all modules and submodules share the same release cycle and the version, it
does not make sense to keep such interproject dependencies at final releases:

It is quite cumbersome to restore all of them after a release - and higly
error-prone.

Hi,

This is not a bug - the release plugin just updates the module you're releasing.

Dependencies should be updated manually, since changing versions might break
things.

What you could do though is specify ${pom.version} for the version in your
dependencies.

Did you find a solution? I'm noticing the same problem.

The POM version is changed from 1.0.0.1-SNAPSHOT to 1.0.0.1 for the
release, and then up to 1.0.0.2-SNAPSHOT for the next development.

But the internal project dependencies are not changed from 1.0.0.1 to
1.0.0.2-SNAPSHOT. It seems like a definite bug, unless I'm missing
something in the way that the POM was supposed to be written.

Hello.
I want to get a zip instead of a jar file. Is there a easy way to fix that. It
is enough to be able to rename the resulting jar to zip, I have not seen any
maven-zip-plugin. I have searched and searched but not found anything.

RE: [m2] Packaging as directory

2006-09-23 Thread LAMY Olivier
Hi,
Workarounds for this :
I have done this with putting schema in src/main/resources.
The result is an artifact which contains only the schemas.
For validation : add the artifact in dependencies and load the schema with a
getResource and use your favorite parser.

An other one is to put your schemas in src/site/resources and deploy your site
(the schemas will in the root folder of the web site). With this one, you can
use schemaLocation.

Objet : [m2] Packaging as directory

Hi all,

I have a project which contains only XML schema files.
Other project files depend on these XML schemas for validation, i.e.
there must be some fixed URL for the XML validator to find the appropriate XML
schema for each one of the validating XML files (this URL is contained by the
XML schemaLocation property).

I would like to point the XML schemaLocation property to an URL in my M2
repository where the XML schema files are deployed. The problem is that the
deployment artifact is archived as a WAR file and the repository server does
not know how to unpack the archive on demand and the schema files remain
unaccessible :-(

I am thinking about a directory packaging type -- is it possible?
Any other solution?

Thanks in advance,
Adrian.

RE: Missing checkstyle documentation ?

2006-09-22 Thread LAMY Olivier
Thanks for confirmation ;-)

Can a friendly maven dev redeploy the documentation ?
Or I need to load an issue in jira ? (like in the french administration : take
a ticket and wait your time ;-)).

I can certainly do it in local :
svn co
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/maven/plugins/tags/maven-checkstyle-plugin-2.1/
maven-checkstyle-plugin cd maven-checkstyle-plugin mvn site

But a friendly maven dev could do this :
svn co
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/maven/plugins/tags/maven-checkstyle-plugin-2.1/
maven-checkstyle-plugin cd maven-checkstyle-plugin mvn site-deploy

I'm sure all people using the plugin will appreciate this (because some people
due to some firewall policies doesn't have acces to the svn apache repo and
can't rebuild the documentation)

Hi,

I would like to have the project version included into the generated site, e.g.
into the title, to make this information transparent to the user directly on
the welcome page.

I tried to use ${project.version} in the site.xml descriptor, but this is not
replaced. Only ${project.name} seems to be working.

Any hints?

Thanks,
