Can't find upgrade, Can't Uninstall - How do you get rid of OO to start over? I can't Paste out of OO 3.2 on Debian Linux.

2014-04-08 Thread Linda Hull
I have OpenOffice 3.2.1.4 on Debian Squeeze (Linux)

How does one remove old OpenOffice to get a new one?

When I try to paste text from Open Office to ANY other application, I lose
words
and parts of lines, whole paragraphs.

It's inconsistent. Sometimes it will paste the first two lines out of 5,
sometim
es only the final word in a paragraph, or just one character out of a
paste, will make it to the new page. This happens between OO and gedit, OO
and vi(m), OO and IRC/XChat2, OO document1 and OO document2, and OO and web
based email.

It might have started in December, when I fixed the bug that wasn't letting
OO open. Re: [Solved] Stuck in Document Recovery .. or more recently. We
are moving house; I haven't had time to focus on my computer.

Upgrading was suggested. I tried very hard to find an acceptable download
of 4.1 for i386. Nobody is in the Debian OpenOffice Freenode channel.
http://sourceforge.net/directory/os:linux/freshness:recently-updated/?q=OpenOffice_4.0.1_Linux_x86_install-deb
does not show me the correct file. I keep getting a RedHat type download.

If I can't use OpenOffice, I have to do something. I need help, please?

If you only cast your eyes to the bottom of your email you will find the

How can I use your program to open an attachment sent to me that used Microsoft

Depend on the format, most MS Office documents can be opened by
OpenOffice although there are some issues with docx documents, but these
will be solved in the next release scheduled for this month.

Very likely is that you browse to this webpage via a Windows PC. The
green box reads the browser data and presents a suitable install file -
mostly this works as expected. ;-)

Would you please tell me where I can download the Mac OS version ?

In the green box you have the link "Get all platforms, languages,
language packs" to see all files on a separate file - or click this link:

When you download, it automatically selects the correct version for your
computer. It should say near the bottom of the green box what is going
to be downloaded.

Failing that, you can go to:
http://www.openoffice.org/download/other.html#aoo

And select the version you want.

On recent versions of Mac OS X it might happen, especially after a "Force quit", that the following error message appears:
"Restore Windows - The application OpenOffice.org was forced to quit while trying to restore its windows. Do you want to try to
restore its windows again?". If you cannot get rid of it: Option-click the "Go" menu; choose "Library" from the
menu to open the folder in the Finder; click on the folder "Saved Application State"; delete the file
"org.openoffice.script.savedState".

Maybe the problem is that you simply need to start the formula with
an equal sign, e.g., =IF(A1=B75,"OK";"Not OK"). Just a guess.

Surely not, in fact? A formula without its leading equals sign is
just a text string - a literal value which displays in the cell but
has no effect as the formula it looks somewhat like.
