You guess is wrong. This is a Mac specific problem. See my other post.

Understand you are on a MAC.

Please tell us where you obtained the checkbook register form you are
trying to use.

Its hard to try to troubleshoot without knowing what spreadsheet you are
actually working with.

Getting started with CHECKBOOK REGISTER

2015-03-01 Thread Ted Watt
I’m now well in to my second day trying to get started with this seemingly
simple form. I spent all of my time on the first day trying to just get a date
entered, but fought non-stop with the “invalid value” message. I had, as
instructed, deleted all the sample information on the form.
Today I miraculously was able to get a date entered, but only the first one.
Then when I typed something in on the “payee” section I again get the dreaded
“invalid value” message. Tried to get the open office web site, but could
only get the message “to view this web content you
need to install JAVA RUNTIME ENVIRONMENT.” I downloaded that little trinket
probably five times, but continued to get the same message. JAVA has verified
that It is indeed installed in my computer, though I must admit that I can
find no proof of it.

After a great deal of web searching for a simple checkbook register to replace
my long used Quicken application, I was delighted to find your form, only to
learn that I apparently do not have the smarts to get off line one. Indeed, I
can’t even finish line one!

If you can take me by the hand and lead me through the beginning steps on this
form I’d be forever grateful.

Thank you.
