There was nothing improper or rude in Dale's reply.

SPF deserved exactly the mild response Dale provided.

The only rudeness I see is the sophomoric insult about Dale being a high
schooler.

Sounds like you want a piece of software that's engineered to your
specifications and screw the rest of the world and what they prefer.
Right? Well, Open Office is open source which means you can modify it
to do whatever you want it to. But you probably want someone else to do
it for you and for free, Right?.
How can you ever get a professional-looking piece of writing when you
can't be bothered to learn how to operate the software?

Hi Robin,

das Problem hatte ich mit 4.1.1 auch. Meine Lösungen (gleiches
Betriebssystem):

Entweder 4.1.1 deinstallieren und wieder die Vorgängerversion verwenden
oder auf LibreOffice umsteigen - das konvertiert (gefühlt) auch schneller.

If you use /File /Save As and choose MS Word 97/2000/XP from the filetype
dropdown box, with Automatic file name extension checked, the file will be
saved as the MS format, which can be read by all versions of MS Word.

Thanks for your reply Kay.

I do realize that the software must be global, but my point of difficulty is
that I have not been able to edit an existing Table that has been previously
Saved? I must redo my steps, carefully.
Since this is my first attempt with ooBase, perhaps I do not have proper
pre-configuration, yet.

Hmm?

I believe Canada and UK also use zip code, or equivalent, and perhaps others
do.

This is just a tutorial table designed for a variety of users in different
countries. If I'm not mistaken, zipcode is something that is only used in
the US. Once you save this table, you should be able to back into it using
the Tables icon and add whatever fields you like.

You have the capability to add many fields to this sample table.

No: most countries have postal coding systems, of course, but only
the USA (oh, and the Philippines) calls them Zip codes.

Hello, if I understand the problem correctly the following should allow
your recipient to open the document.

1. Open your original document with OpenOffice Word
2. Select File | Save As... from the menu
3. In the bottom right of the window that opens, just aboue the Cancel
and Save buttons there is a list box with All Formats displayed
4. Open the list and select the option Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP (.doc)
5. Click the Save button
6. Send the newly saved document

If the above doesn't allow recipient to open the document repeat steps 1
thru 3 then for step 4

4. Open the list and select the option Microsoft Word 2003 XML (.xml)
5. Click the Save button
6. Send the newly saved document

If this doesn't work, and the recipient doesn't need to edit the document,
send it as a .pdf. Do that by...
1. Open your original document with OpenOffice Word
2. Select File | Export as PDF... from the menu
3. Click the Export button
4. Send the newly exported pdf file

If all of the above fail then ask what version of Microsoft Word your
recipient is using and post back here. Each version of MS Word has it's own
limitations regarding what MS Word versions it can read. The recipient may
need to apply a patch to their product to be able to read the MS Word files
that you are able to send.
