This isn't normal behaviour of OpenOffice, what happens when you use
other word applications e.g. WordPad or Notepad?
You could select a paragraph and then press Control+M to set the
formatting to Default

But without seeing the document we only could guess.

I can try.

I read the FAQ on the website, but they are not clear. Where is the page

There is non icon

   What does it look like.

Characters.

Please show me exactly what icon I press on to access the sub-menus.

At the top bar go to Format and then Select page from the menu, this
will open a Page Style Window.

In the window go to the Footer tab and tick the Footer on box and press OK
Now you have an footer. Place your mouse inside the footer and go at the
top bar to Insert and select Fields, you see there a number of fields
you can insert one of them is Page Number.

Copy and paste the icon into an email or tell me exactly where it is. This
latest version of Open Office is harder to use than previous versions.

I have no idea what you're talking about the user interface hasn't
changed since version 4.0

Better is to use existing functionalities.
Go to Format -> Styles and Formatting, the second icon at the top is
Page Styles
Create a Landscape and a Portrait Style for each sheet select the
desired style.

Happy printing.

Formatting Pages in CaLc

2017-03-02 Thread John van Barneveld

I have a spreadsheet with four sheets, the third of which I want printed
in landscape and the rest in portrait. It seems when I set in
Format-Page it formats all four the same forcing me to print each page
separately. This is fine for printing but I want to save a four page
.pdf with the one page as landscape. Can anyone tell me how to go about
this please.

No

There are very many people on this mailing list who know that it is
quite possible - not problematic, that is - to use OpenOffice
(Writer) to prepare documents and to submit them in Microsoft Word
format for others to use. You may want to take advantage of their
help in learning to do this yourself. Then you too can answer "Yes"!

I assume you use calc, the spreadsheet function.
You need to select at least one cell to be able to format it.

So you are able to set the row height. Then the other problem is a line that
covers the writing, well delete the line and use again Format Cell now select
Border and play with it till your satisfied.

When you say "put" +4 do you mean manually type it, or for it to be the
result of a calculation?

If it is manually entered, prefix it with an apostrophe ' character (eg.
'+4) The leading apostrophe does not appear in the cell, but does tall
Calc to treat the cell contents as text.

If it is the result of a calculation, use Martin's solution.

I cannot reproduce your row height issue.

Dave

Is this in a spreadsheet or in a table in a text document? I'm
guessing the latter.

... and when putting in the goal difference I want to put +4 etc but
the + disappears every time. Is there a way around this?

Remove the tick at Tools | Options... | OpenOffice Writer | Table |
Input in tables | Number recognition.

Also, I want to border the bottom of just one row but whenever I
insert a border the row increases in height and is bigger than all
the other rows.

I'm not sure you can avoid this happening as you edit, but you can
set row heights explicitly either collectively or separately at Table
| Autofit > | Row Height... . You will want to remove the tick from
"Fit to size".

I trust this helps.

You can format the cell go to: Format -> Cell and select Number enter
+0;[RED]--0 in the Format Code field

Also, I want to border the bottom of just one row but whenever I insert a

Select the rows and Right Click your mouse then select Row Height and
