With the correct extension installed, OpenOffice 4.1.4 (and earlier versions)
will permit minor cosmetic editing of PDF files; however, for serious editing,
amounting to reconstruction of such files, as you outline, it is not a good
tool. You should either acquire Adobe Acrobat or some other PDF editor.
Perhaps Google will be your friend.

I don't think OO is appropriate for that purpose. My personal
preference for what you describe is PDFsam (http://pdfsam.org/).

It's free and open-source.

Hello,

Difficult to get to you. I need a question answered. I have a older disc
for OO.O vs.3.1 ?. I see there is a newer offering. My question is this (as I
never really learned or needed to learn) all the apps of the old one. I have
many, many PDF docs that have way too many pages in them. Adobe says I need to
buy their Acrobat Professional XI or subscribe to their DC version for a
monthly rate to be able to edit-(extract & delete) unnecessary pages and blank
pages that come with the user manuals that you get online. Is this possible to
do with OO 4.1.4 ? I think that is what the latest version is? Or do I have to

Start by renaming your OpenOffice user profile.

As you are using Windows close OpenOffice and the Quickstarter. Open File
Explorer. Copy and paste %appdata%\OpenOffice\4 in the File Explorer (sometimes
called Windows Explorer)
Address Bar and press Enter. Rename the "user" folder - "user.old" is a
good choice. Start OpenOffice.

This cures most spellcheck problems.

In theory, you can export the Quickbooks data as CSV files, and then
import them into AOo.

I can't find it, but there used to be a Calc extension that could read
either Quicken, or Quickbooks files.

Finally, there is a commercially distributed QODB driver, that appears
to play nicely with AOo. This driver should enable you to use the
QuickBooks database from within Calc.
