Re: Compatibility with Mac's new operating system?
OpenOffice works fine on Catalina. One small problem I had is running a macro from the menu would cause a crash, giving a warning saying I had to install a legacy version 6 of Java. That turned out to be nonsense. Just go to Oracle web site and download the latest Java. Apple preferences say that Java is up to date but that is also nonsense. In the OpenOffice preferences click on Java, wait a few seconds and you will have a choice of Apple's "up to date" Java and a your newer downloaded Java. Choose the newer one then OpenOffice works great. Funny thing is Apple preferences still don't recognize the existence of the newer Java. Yeah, probably unnecessary, but also good on you for follow-up ‘mea culpa’. Still, very entertaining, nevertheless... I smiled a lot, and I’m sure many others, did too..! Illegitimi non carborundum.. OpenOffice 4.1.7
