Download and install the 64-bit version at:  
http://www.openoffice.org/download/index.html

Catalina doesn’t support any 32-bit version of an application.

just loaded 4.1.7 3 days ago,  shut computer off for couple days.  would
not boot.  unplugged everything for 5 minutes then restarted ok...

What type of problem are you having?

What version of OpenOffice are you using? Right click(control click) the 
OpenOffice icon and choose About.

Please reply to: users@openoffice.apache.org
so all users can assist you.

Dazu wäre es ausgesprochen Hilfreich,
1. den genauen Text der Meldung sowie
2. Die Betriebssystemversion
zu haben.

Spätestens seit MacOS 10.15 aka Catalina hat Apple die Vorkehrungen gegen das 
Ausführen unerwünschter Software nochmals verschärft.

Was Du versuchen kannst: Das Programm nicht per Doppelklick zu starten sondern 
mit rechtem Mausklick und "Öffnen". Dann kommt eine Meldung mit einem 
abschreckenden Text, aber die kann man in diesem Fall ignorieren.

Ich benötige öfter die Rubrik Eigenschaften neben der Tabellenkalkulation. 
Diese läßt sich oft nicht öffnen, manchmal läßt sie sich wieder öffnen.  An was 
liegt das ?
