Re: NOTE: [Open Office – Writer Issue] 3/16(a)
Hi, It looks like you have "controlled folder access" activated in your Windows. See: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/113430-add-remove-allowed-apps-controlled-folder-access-windows-10-a.html#option1 how to add OpenOffice to the list of allowed programs or how to disable this function. I hope it helps. Regards, Matthias Am 17.03.23 um 00:39 schrieb Nickalus T. Open Office Writer issue-fuzziness!
For many years I have been a user of the NeoOffice suite of applications and have been satisfied with their performance and operation. I purchased a new iMac desktop this summer and have noted some incompatibilities with it and NeoOffice. I downloaded Apache Open Office version 4.1.4 and now use it as my everyday application for text and spreadsheets. The iMac is using IO S version 10.13.2/High Sierra . However, I have an open issue with OpenOffice Writer. When I enter data, after a few seconds the screen text becomes “fuzzy”, obscured and hard to read. In addition, I note numerous dim triangles in the margins and body of the screen text. I can clear the "fuzzyness" by 'Selecting All'; the text becomes comes clear and legible. However, the "fuzziness" returns after a few seconds. I have searched the Open Office help screens and a early version of the users manual but I cannot find any reference to the cause and correction method to eliminate the fuzziness. Thanks in advance for your help. Don Minow dmi...@comcast.net
Open Office Writer Issue
Hi, I am a user of your Apache Open Office product, I have recently experienced some problems with my OO Writer files where all my files are returning a mess of ASCII Garble instead of the intended text. Can you help me please, I've checked the online help but I don't see any resolution to this issue...? Regards Andrew Dunn It is often the case that when an OpenOffice file returns the ASCII filter options screen it has become corrupted. Such corruption often occurs with improper (too speedy) close down of the computer (not allowing time for hardware/software write buffers to flush) or working direct to a USB stick and improper observance of correct USB removal protocols. Rename the files to type .zip (at operating system level) and see if an archive utility will open the file. Your content should be in content.xml If the files don't open the archive may be damaged. How much (if any) is recoverable depends on which repair utility you use. -- Rory O'Farrell ofarr...@iol.ie --- List Conduct Guidelines: http://openoffice.apache.org/list-conduct.html To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@openoffice.apache.org

If they do open with an archive utility, but not with OpenOffice, a new OpenOffice user Profile may help - details on how to do this are at https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=74t=12426. I haven't used a zip repair utility in a long time - a Google search throws up http://www.diskinternals.com/zip-repair/ Having in the past used several diskinternals utilities, I'd suggest that one. Hmm Andrew is saying that all of his files were effected. Short of something that corrupted the entire hard drive that would be very unusual. A few questions: 1) Did you change anything recently on your computer, since the last time you successfully worked with these files? For example, did you upgrade OpenOffice? 2) What OS and version are you running? 3) What kind of documents are these? What are the file extension? 4) Can you try loading these files on another machine? Does that work?
