At the beginning of October, I was shown a work flow process to create
documents that have complex formatting and layout requirements (^1),
using markdown (^2) and GIT. However, specific details were, shall we

If I understand the documentation correctly, then
multimarkdown -t 0DF file.txt
will create an ODF file from file.txt.
You can grab MultiMarkDown from
https://github.com/fletcher/MultiMarkdown-5/releases
*Nix users will have to import source from GitHub and compile it on
themselves.
I'm not aware of any extensions that enable LibO to import/export
Markdown. :(
^1: This system enables one to do things that are not possible with
Scribus, LibO, or anything from either zip code 98052 or 95014.
^2: The biggest modification is flags to indicate a change in writing
system.
