Re: Updates und sichere Version von OpenOffice

2022-04-14 Thread Helmut Schütz

Danke, Michael,

das hat wunderbar geklappt. Also einfach runterladen, installieren, ohne

Helmut

mmh ... was meint das genau?

http://de.openoffice.info/viewtopic.php?f=3=65956=3d142984eefd76324889fcb41231a35e

Several grammar, punctuation, and style checkers are available for
Apache OpenOffice.

Download and install the appropriate extensions.

I'll also mention that for more comprehensive grammar or spell checking,
you'll need to install supplementary rule sets for those tools. These
rule sets are available from the home site of the specific extension.

Likewise, several spelling checkers and thesauri are available for
Apache OpenOffice. You can find them at

https://templates.openoffice.org/ or LibreOffice's set of templates.

If you have configured AOo to Canadian English, and installed a Canadian
English dictionary, when you use American English, the words are flagged
when incorrectly spelled for Canadian English.

As far as Canadian English Grammar Checking, and American English
Grammar Checking goes, that is a function of the grammar checker that
you installed.

I take it that reading the user manual, completely, utterly, and

However, I noticed that it only supports Mac OS up to 10.7

Will there be an update any time in the near future to be able to download to

Apache OpenOffice supports Mac OS X version 10.7 and newer, as stated in the System

Personally I prefer to read from the bottom up as then see when changes take
place and the thread may have a few branches rather than having to go to the
top every time a find that a branch has developed where I wasn't expecting

That is just my way of doing things however I may not be the only one.

Dear AOO developers,
Thank you for this excellent product.
Currently running AOO 4.1.2

I have a small problem with updating an extension.

When I open a document, I get a banner that there is an update
to an extension (English spelling . etc).
So, I click on Update and NOTHING HAPPENS.

So, why would you insert the alert code in the product, and then
not execute the update when the user clicks on it?

If the issue is that the user is NOT root, then why do you offer
the no-op "Update" button on the banner? Why do you not offer
instead a button to download the update to disk,, so that the user
can run sudo ...etc to install the update?

Kind regards,

JD

You speak of root and I assume that means you are using a Linux version of AOO
4.1.2?

The extension procedure should be the same for all platforms. I checked the
procedure using AOO 4.1.2 (on Windows 10) and here is what my experience is:

  1. The notice comes up when I open AOO Writer. It invites a click for "further
information."

  2. I click on the download button (small button with downward facing arrow
that the notice points to).

  3. A dialog box labeled "Extension Update" opens and there is a checked name
of an available extension (e.g., the Version 2016.02.01 English spelling and hyphenation
dictionaries and thesaurus ...).

  4. Yes, the button at the bottom of the dialog says "Install". This is
inaccurate. There are no automatic installs in Apache OpenOffice.

5.If I click on the Install button, I am taken to a web page,
<http://extensions.openoffice.org/node/17102/update>, that describes the
extension and provides a Download button for it. There is also a list of available
version, starting with the most-recent, with available downloads. There are
instructions on how to complete the download and install the extension.

QUESTIONS

  A. Are you not seeing the dialog in (3)?

  B. Is your concern that (4) is inaccurate?

  C. Is the procedure at the web page, (5) clear?

  D. Is your request that there be an automatic Install of updates?

There are some simple steps we might be able to take to clarify this, as first
steps, without changing the actual procedure.

First, help us understand the specific problem you are observing and what you
are asking for.

  - Dennis

I am referring to your point #5. Clicking on Install DOES NOT open the
browser (firefox).

Go to www.openoffice.org/download and select the appropriate download from the
selection boxes. This will redirect you to a SourceForge server and your
download will start in five seconds, without need to click on anything else (do
not click on anything else). You browser will query if it should run the
download or save the file. Save the file. When the download has finished,
double click on the downloaded file and installation will start.

RE: OO updates

2015-07-14 Thread Dennis E. Hamilton
Two questions.

 1. What do you mean by full support for xlsx and docx extensions? (There is
no plan to change the support for .xlsx and .docx in 4.1.2, the forthcoming
maintenance release.)

 2. What do you mean by MS Word 2013 style toolbars? Are you asking about
the ribbon? Could you please be more specific? (There is no intention to
make Apache OpenOffice Writer into an MS Word 2013 work-alike. None. Many
users and developers of Apache OpenOffice consider that a feature. However one
feels about that, I believe we are not making any user-interface changes that
would make toolbars any different than they are now.)

kannst.

Grüße
Günter

What OS are you using and can you provide the build info in Help-About
OpenOffice? I am also using/testing 4.1.1 and even after checking
manually for updates, I'm not getting a message like this. Thanks.

Updates

2014-03-28 Thread Wilfred Milton

Hi. I have been using Open Office for quite a while new and have been very
satisfied. No problems. I had an email today saying that an update was
available, so I have spent about an hour downloading it, using up a large
amount of my allocation of bytes on my server. On completion, I had a message
to say that there was already a copy of the same prog installed, meaning that I
had just wasted a lot of time.

Just a little confused. Usually updates are just that, and mean that there is
an improvement of some sort.

This is being discussed on the dev list. The OpenOffice project does not
send personal e-mail notifications (we don't have the e-mail addresses
of our users!) but it seems this is a notification coming from
SourceForge, that hosts the OpenOffice downloads and apparently offers a
service where people can sign up to be notified when a new version of
OpenOffice (or any other software) is available.

Maybe (but this is not confirmed) the service got confused by the fact
that we recently started to distribute version 4.1.0-beta. But indeed
the latest stable version is 4.0.1, and the next stable version, 4.1.0,
is almost ready and expected to be released by mid-April.

Regards,
  Andrea.

Download von Updates

2013-07-24 Thread Werner Janz

Können Sie mir mitteilen, was da

http://www.openoffice.org/download/other.html

entstehen.
