The last update was almost a year go. Can we expect OO updates soon or has that function been passed to Libre Office? I would like to see full support for xlsx and docx extensions and MS Word 2013 style toolbars. DAN
RE: OO updates
Two questions. 1. What do you mean by full support for xlsx and docx extensions? (There is no plan to change the support for .xlsx and .docx in 4.1.2, the forthcoming maintenance release.) 2. What do you mean by MS Word 2013 style toolbars? Are you asking about the ribbon? Could you please be more specific? (There is no intention to make Apache OpenOffice Writer into an MS Word 2013 work-alike. None. Many users and developers of Apache OpenOffice consider that a feature. However one feels about that, I believe we are not making any user-interface changes that would make toolbars any different than they are now.) -Original Message- From: Daniel Sherman [mailto:dms11...@yahoo.com.INVALID] Sent: Tuesday, July 14, 2015 14:34 To: users@openoffice.apache.org Subject: OO updates [...] I would like to see full support for xlsx and docx extensions and MS Word 2013 style toolbars. Updates
Hi. I have been using Open Office for quite a while new and have been very satisfied. No problems. I had an email today saying that an update was available, so I have spent about an hour downloading it, using up a large amount of my allocation of bytes on my server. On completion, I had a message to say that there was already a copy of the same prog installed, meaning that I had just wasted a lot of time. Just a little confused. Usually updates are just that, and mean that there is an improvement of some sort. Wilf Milton Sent from Windows Mail

The OpenOffice project does not send personal e-mail notifications (we don't have the e-mail addresses of our users!) but it seems this is a notification coming from SourceForge, that hosts the OpenOffice downloads and apparently offers a service where people can sign up to be notified when a new version of OpenOffice (or any other software) is available. Maybe (but this is not confirmed) the service got confused by the fact that we recently started to distribute version 4.1.0-beta. But indeed the latest stable version is 4.0.1, and the next stable version, 4.1.0, is almost ready and expected to be released by mid-April.
