It's likely in this case that our download site would recognize Windows as the operating system, and present you with the right version for your tablet. If not, you could manually choose a Windows download option from our download site and see if that works for you. You might also need to find a 32-bit Java to use. Once you get your tablet, please let us know how this worked for you. The Lenova product comes with Windows 10. The primary issue is what version of what operating system does that hardware use. The hardware specs are borderline OK. jonathon - To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@openoffice.apache.org
RE: Using open office on tablet
We will need to hear from individuals who use this type of tablet configuration with Apache OpenOffice. - Dennis Meanwhile, here is some general information that may be useful to you. The AOO project does not directly test for these kinds of configurations, although the software should be able to be installed and run. Apache OpenOffice does not provide any touch and small-screen optimizations. There is no direct conversion from Word document formats to PDF. Apache OpenOffice would convert from the Word format to its native/internal format and from there to PDF. Full preservation of Word features and formatting is not assured in that process. You would need to test whether the fidelity was sufficient for your purpose. In the US, I only see specifications for a Mix 300 model with 64GB solid-state storage. Considering that the Lenova MIIX 300 comes with a first-year subscription to Office 365 Personal, it may be preferable to take advantage of Word's ability to save documents as PDF and also take advantage of the tablet support in that software, along with the 1TB OneDrive online storage that is part of the Office 365 Personal bundle. I am assuming that the product available in The Netherlands has those features the same as they are offered in the US. Since you can always install Apache OpenOffice and verify its use side-by-side with the Office 365 Personal, that might be a good way to proceed. You would have a full year to decide whether to renew the Office 365 Personal subscription after first learning to use what is already integrated in the product and determining whether you can accomplish your work with AOO alone. - Dennis > -Original Message- > From: J [mailto:i...@j-r.nl] > Sent: Tuesday, May 31, 2016 04:49 > To: users@openoffice.apache.org > Subject: Using open office on tablet > > Dear Sir/Madam, > > Is it safe to assume that if I load your openoffice software onto a > tablet with keyboard it will work without any problems? > I am looking at the LENOVO MIIX 300,(10,1" / Atom Z3537F / 2GB / 32GB) > OR ASUS (Intel Atom, 2 GB, 32 GB Solid State Drive, 10.1 inch). > Does the software incorporate a word to pdf converter? > > Thanks and Kind Regards, > > > > > > John Ruane > J Virtual Reality Entertainment > Kolk 8 > 4241 TJ Arkel > T: +31 (0)183-637927 > F: +31 (0)183-635386 > M:+31 (0)6-54741661 > www.j-r.nl > www.j-r.nl/flipbooks > > i...@j-r.nl > > > > . - To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@openoffice.apache.org

Apache OpenOffice is not currently supported on tablets. However, there are ports for some devices with certain operating systems. Please see our porting page for further details: http://www.openoffice.org/porting/ There may be other versions/ports available that we are not aware of as well. Please be aware that tablet operating systems vary, so a port that works on one tablet(operating system) may not work on another. I am looking at the LENOVO MIIX 300,(10,1" / Atom Z3537F / 2GB / 32GB) OR ASUS (Intel Atom, 2 GB, 32 GB Solid State Drive, 10.1 inch).
