Are you saying that Ubuntu is shipping a slightly different version from that which is available directly from OOo? That I should download the latest version directly from OOo and install it over the Ubuntu version? I am definitely not inclined to use RCs or betas. Just out of curiosity, is there a detectable rationale for Ubuntu's provision of a buggier version of OOo than Open Office itself ships? Brewster Well, the Ubuntu version is actually Go-oo (as far as I know) rather than OpenOffice.org. So is the case with other well known GNU/Linux-distributions as well, for example OpenSUSE and more. Go-oo has some advantages over OpenOffice.org, so maybe it's better for some users in some cases. -- Kind regards Johnny Rosenberg - To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@openoffice.org

If you have not yet gotten the confirmation message (it's usually very quick), chances are that it got trapped in a spam filter somewhere. It comes from a different address than the list messages (users-h...@openoffice.org rather than users@openoffice.org) and it also has some complex strings of characters that may make it look like spam to some filters. You can try whitelisting the users-help address at your ISP and in your personal filters, then try again. If that still doesn't work, I'll try to help you off-list (b...@onr.com). [users] Properties tab crash, Note vs. Comment
I'm using OpenOffice 3.2.1, downloaded like a week ago onto my new (Win 7) laptop. On my other computer, a Linux desktop, I have OpenOffice 2. When I view a file created on the Linux box/OO2 over on the laptop/Win/v3, usually any Note I've inserted displays to the side margin... but with the letters of the text spaced so far apart they can't be read. No editing of that note can happen; I can't click into the note in any way, the only options are Reply and Delete. I suppose Comment has replaced Note under the Insert menu? But there seems to be no backwards compatibility. So far, I'm liking the old Notes better. Also, when I right-click a document (saved as Word doc) and look at Properties, two of the tabs crash explorer.exe. I suspected the Avast! (antivirus) shell extension but when I stop that process it keeps happening. Only two out of the six tabs don't display/crash the Windows shell: Summary and Document Statistics. ? - To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@openoffice.org
