Hi, I'm not sure about this, but in previous version in 3.4, Live snapshot used to fail due to qemu-kvm package. and as a workaround i used the following, This is for Centos: Currently live snapshot creation fails: Cause: qemu-kvm package available on CentOS repositories does not support. Solution: remove qemu-kvm package and install qemu-kvm-rhev from http://jenkins.ovirt.org/view/All/job/qemu-kvm-rhev_create-rpms_el6/lastSuccessfulBuild/ Not sure if the same workaround still valid for 3.5 release. Hi Yair, Yes... engine log attached... Another thing i discovered is :- 1. If the VM is in RUN mode...the live snapshot working fine without any error... 2. If the VM is in RUN-ONCE mode...the live snapshot failed with this error VM restart is recommended. Note that using the created snapshot might cause data inconsistency. Next one will be 3.6.0 which is in planning stages, so we still do not have all the details. The general trend is to move to el7 based platform. So for a community project, you could stay on latest 3.5 stable, but once 3.6.0 will be out, no additional fixes will be provided to 3.5.x, just the way it is with 3.4.x these days. This will cover the time we have from now until 3.6.0 GA, which still has no final dates. One more thing you want to consider is updates from Centos for el6. Hi, We are migrating our ifrastructure from kvm+libvirt hypervisors to ovirt. Everything is working fine but we're noticing that all the qemu-kvm processes in the hypervisors take a lot of CPU. The typical example is an idle machine, running top from the machine itself it reports cpu use percentages below 10% and loads (with 2 processors) of 0.0x. The process running that machine in the hypervisor rports cpu uses in the order of the 80-100%. Should the values look like this? Why are the idle machines eating up so much CPU time? Thank you. Hi, After talking with a couple of people including Barak at the KVM Forum, I have been thinking about how we use oVirt the Foreman and what could be improved. We have dug some further in the foreman and changed some of our configuration and practices so thinks work better for us. What we would like to have as improvement is to be able to assign the same Organization and Location foreman/katello uses to an oVirt Cluster/Datacenter. This way we can seperate everything nicely and the cluster gets the correct provisioned hosts, Host Groups, subnet, domain, realm,etc for provisioning hosts and in the future VM's. This will also help to prevent the picklists becoming too large to easily use when using thousands of servers with dozens of customers. Good idea? I've been trying to work out some pattern and realized that the VMs using that much cpu all are Redhat 5.x, the Readhat 6.x doesn't exhibit this kind of high cpu use. (we run only redhat/centos 5.x/6.x on the cluster) What OS are the hosts running? In case of EL6, make sure you have tuned-0.2.19-13.el6.noarch installed [1]. [ovirt-users] Live Snapshot support on EL 6.6 with oVirt 3.5 now Inactive when Active on EL 6.5
On EL 6.5 Host and oVirt 3.5, I was able to create live snapshot (Live Snapshot Support: Active). After upgrading host to EL 6.6, the oVirt UI now reports live snapshot as Inactive. You could disable HT as I suspect your physical cores are less then 64? Your workload might differ but my VMs usually do not benefit from 'threaded' cores and I want HT disabled anyway. We were hoping to add some more hypervisors to the cluster next week that have even more cores... No, the engine supports setting default route only for the management
network.
In that case, I'm afraid that you have two lower level options:
1.- Write a before_network_setup hook that takes defaultroute out of the
management network and sets it for your 'data' network. This would work
even when re-defining the networks.
2.- Manually modify /var/lib/vdsm/persistence/netconf/nets/{ovirtmgmt,data}
so that defaultRoute is set on data and not on ovirtmgmt. Then doing
vdsm-tool restore-nets. This will survive reboots, but changes to
ovirtmgmt and 'data' will have it overwritten and return the default route
to the management net.
I think about vdsm hook
but I don't want to reinvent the wheel. Also I don't like an idea to
make hosted engine default gateway for physical hosts.

FYI, Just spend the better part of the day debugging a weird issue. Running 'yum update' on a CentOS-6.5 VM causes a kernel OOPS on the host :-( The oops is in the nfs module (_put_nfs_open_context) and it looks like there is work being done on it. Kernel(s) tried are all 3.16.x. Switching back to the latest F19 kernel (is an updated system) and then there is no crash anymore. Tried all kinds of variations with different NFS servers, different hosts, different kernels but I get the OOPS always during the yum update sooner or later. Hi list, I was wondering is there a way to add multiple files to a vm via cloud-init using python SDK. I was able to add /etc/resolv.conf and additionally I would like to add config files for NICs (ifcfg-ethX) with appropriate values (ip,gw,netmask). I used an example given here: http://www.ovirt.org/Features/Cloud-Init_Integration . But unfortunately I cannot do the same thing If I want to write multiple files to a vm in params.Action class. Can you please enable snapshots repository and checkout the new ldap
provider[1][2]?
This should be the new support for ldap, and much more efficient than what we
had so far.

OK I seem to be having some fundamental confusion about this migration. I have an existing ovirt 3.5 (upgraded from 3.4) setup with a Data Center containing four clusters, 3 VM clusters for 3 differenc classes of CPU hosts (Penryn, Nehalem, and SandyBridge). I also have a gluster storage cluster. There are 4 storage domains, an Export domain (Export-Dom1) nfs v1, and ISO domain (Gluster-ISOs) posix FS v1, a Data domain (Gluster Data) GlusterFS V3, and a Data (Master) (Gluster-VM-Store) GlusterFS v3. As Gluster replica 2 is not considered adequate for the hosted-engine storage I created a volume in the gluster store and exported it as NFS. This is what I planned to use as the storage pool for the hosted engine. So far so good.
