Re: [ovirt-users] Newly deployed ovirt instance can not start a VM
On 06/12/14 01:21, Jeremy Utley wrote: Hello everyone! I just finished setting up our new demo Ovirt implementation, but am having some issues once I get to the point of starting up a VM. Every time we try to start a VM, we get the error: The host {hostname} did not satisfy internal filter Network because network(s) are missing. This reminds me of issues with missing boot protocol for the display network on hosts (there's a bug on improving the error message for that). Does ovirtmgmt have a boot protocol and IP address configured on the hosts? This is trying to launch vm with the Cirros image from the OVirt glance repository. This is confusing, because we only have one network defined (the ovirtmgmt network), and each of our 4 nodes shows it attached and indicated as functional. Our nodes are all CentOS 6.6 installations, with the ovirtmgmt bridge bound to eth2. If I go to Networks/ovirtmgmt under my datacenter, and click on the Networks tab at the top, select the ovirtmgmt network, and Hosts tab at the bottom, it shows that ovirtmgmt network is up on all 4 nodes. Even if I tell the VM to not attach itself to any networks at all, the machine fails to start with the same error. Have done a lot of google searching to no avail. We're also worried we did not get our gluster storage network set up right. We added the Storage Domain as type Data (Master)/GlusterFS, but it looks like Ovirt is using Fuse rather than the new libgfapi functionality - since we can see the gluster mounted /rhev/data-center/mnt/glusterSD/ with fuse.glusterfs, which would indicate we are not using the native Gluster integration. However, the latest info I can find seems to indicate that the gluster integration should be working in latest CentOS builds. Thanks for any help anyone can give me! Re: [ovirt-users] Local storage with self-hosted mode
Hi Jason, Hosted Engine was designed to work with a shared storage since all hosts need to share information on their status, and by that support high-availability for this VM. If you do not need high-availability you can use RHEV appliance to get a VM running with the engine inside. Remember that failure of this host will kill the engine VM as well. Hi, First of all you need to remember this is accounting all available memory cache included, so what you see as 22 may not be what mom is using. Hi, There is a bug in the openstack-neutron-openvswitch rpm package. With this process, if I have an X size virtual disk, I have to come up with X+2X more storage to go through this silly import process. With ESXi, I just right click, add to inventory and I’m off. Right now, I’m looking at moving my AIO configuration to a new host. I’ll have to create the new AIO host, create a new storage domain on the old disks, create new VMs that look like the old ones, create new virtual disks, then go rummage around the storage, figure out what’s what in these user unfriendly UUID names, then move the old images onto the new ones. With ESXi, I just reinstall the hypervisor, create the new VM, then right click, add to inventory on the old disk image, and I’m done. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1049604 The concept of storage domains seems rather clumsy and limited to me. ___ Users mailing list Users@ovirt.org http://lists.ovirt.org/mailman/listinfo/users
[ovirt-users] Storage Domain Issue
Dear all, We have updated our hypervisors with yum. This included an update ov vdsm also. We now are with these version: vdsm-4.16.7-1.gitdb83943.el6.x86_64 vdsm-python-4.16.7-1.gitdb83943.el6.noarch vdsm-python-zombiereaper-4.16.7-1.gitdb83943.el6.noarch vdsm-xmlrpc-4.16.7-1.gitdb83943.el6.noarch vdsm-yajsonrpc-4.16.7-1.gitdb83943.el6.noarch vdsm-jsonrpc-4.16.7-1.gitdb83943.el6.noarch vdsm-cli-4.16.7-1.gitdb83943.el6.noarch And ever since these updates we experience BIG troubles with our fibre connections. I've already update the brocade cards to the latest version. This seemed to help, they already came back up and saw the storage domains (before the brocade update, they didn't even see their storage domains). But after a day or so, one of the hypersisors began to freak out again. Coming up and going back down... Re: [ovirt-users] is it possible to run ovirt node on Diskless HW?
For standard centos you may see other issues. For example, let's assume you have a single NIC (eth0). If you boot your host and then try to add it to the engine, the host deploy procedure will create try to create a management bridge for the VMs using eth0. At this point your host will freeze since your root FS will be disconnected while creating the bridge. I've done this ~6 years ago, and it required opening the initrd to handle the above issue, as well as adding the NIC driver and creating the bridge at this point. So it's not a trivial task but doable with some hacking.
