Re: [ovirt-users] How can I import VMWare OVA file to oVirt 4.0?

2016-12-12 Thread Shahar Havivi
What is the type of the target storage domain that you try to import
to?(nfs or iscsi)
if its iscsi try to change it to preallocate instead of thin-provision,
also please attach the engine log if you have more problems.

 Shahar.

[ovirt-users] Auto Deployment

2016-12-12 Thread Koen Vanoppen
Dear all,

I'm currently trying to create a puppet module for setting up ovirt from
scratch.
For the moment I'm stuck with the answer file that hangs on this (and then
of course stops the installation):

Notice:
/Stage[main]/Bacovirt::Config::Mgmt/Exec[engine-setup]/returns:
--== DATABASE CONFIGURATION ==--
Notice:
/Stage[main]/Bacovirt::Config::Mgmt/Exec[engine-setup]/returns:
Notice:
/Stage[main]/Bacovirt::Config::Mgmt/Exec[engine-setup]/returns:
Where is the DWH database located? (Local, Remote) [Local]: [ ERROR ]
Failed to execute stage 'Environment customization': End of file

My answer file is included as a attachment.

Kind regards,

Re: [ovirt-users] oVirt / OVN / MTU

2016-12-12 Thread Numan Siddique
Hi Devin,

Below is one example of creating dhcp options and associating them with
logical ports using ovn-nbctl commands. Please see the links shared by
Lance for more details.

Lets say you have a network with cidr - 10.0.0.0/24.

One example would be

$ovn-nbctl dhcp-options-create 10.0.0.0/24

Run the command ovn-nbctl dhcp-options-list and store the uuid of it in any
variable (DHCP_UUID)
Now create the dhcp options for this DHCP_UUID just created.
There are 4 dhcp options which needs to be defined (they are mandatory)
  - server_id
  - server_mac
 -  router
 - lease_time

since you want to add mtu option as well, you can add the dhcp options as

$ovn-nbctl dhcp-options-set-options $DHCP_UUID  server_id=10.0.0.1
server_mac=00:00:00:00:00:10 router=10.0.0.1 lease_time=3600 mtu=1400

The above is just an example. You can see the dhcp options set by running
$ovn-nbctl dhcp-options-get-options $DHCP_UUID

The dhcp options defined here have no value unless you associate these
with the logical switch port.

$ovn-nbctl lsp-set-dhcpv4-options $LPORT_NAME $DHCP_UUID

Suppose if you have 3 logical ports - lp1, lp2 and lp3, you can associate
it as
$ovn-nbctl lsp-set-dhcpv4-options lp1 $DHCP_UUID
$ovn-nbctl lsp-set-dhcpv4-options lp2 $DHCP_UUID
$ovn-nbctl lsp-set-dhcpv4-options lp3 $DHCP_UUID

Please let us know if you have any more questions.

You can refer to this blog to get some more inner details of how native
DHCP is supported in ovn -
https://numansiddiqueblog.wordpress.com/2016/08/09/native-dhcp-support-in-ovn/

Thanks

[ovirt-users] glusterd fails to start as systemd service when system starts in...

2016-12-12 Thread lejeczek
...emergency/recovery mode, because, eg. a storage device
could not be mounted during boot, (not a gluster storage nor
a storage which gluster uses)

I login in rescue mode, I fix that storage/mount problem
(whatever that might be, does not matter) and I do

$ system default
and I find glusterd failed to start. (system boots fine into
default). I can re/start it manually yes, but by then all
gluster fstab mounts are not mounted.
What I want to highlight here is that that storage, gluster
has nothing to do with. Or maybe it completely has nothing
to do with a failed mount but simply if system boots into
rescure/recovery then systemd's gluster fails.

Did you experience such a problem?
thanks,
L.

   Hi,

   Did you perhaps run out of disk space in /tmp? I'm not sure where
 the
   virt-v2v does it work, but the error "Conversion of VM from exteral
   enironment failed: copy-disk stream closed unexpectedly" seems to
 imply an
   error there.

   I had no issues myself on 4.0.5 (modulo setfiles taking a very long
 time
   in a few cases).

Will qemu-kvm-ev 2.6 be added to any of the oVirt repos for prior
versions (such as 3.5 or 3.6)?

There is a more detailed feature page for qcow2v3 which is currently under

Re: [ovirt-users] Unable to connect to VMs via noVnc or Spice after engine-rename and replacing apache cert

2016-12-12 Thread David Jaša
Ahoj,

Through websockets, you're connecting to TLS port with cert issued by
oVirt CA so you need have your browser trust oVirt CA in order to
connect successfully to spice-html5.

AFAIU you should be able to replace certs for spice (it's separate file
on host from vdsm cert although their contents are the same [1]). I
don't know however if you can configure engine to fill this
non-embedded-CA root in .vv files instead (or not to set it at all if
this CA is in your client trust stores).

Re: [ovirt-users] How can I import VMWare OVA file to oVirt 4.0?

2016-12-12 Thread aleksey . maksimov
1.2G is real OVA image size.
256G is virtual disk size.
Could this be a problem?

But before I start the import, in the settings I choose "Thin provision" (see
the attached screenshot)

Re: [ovirt-users] How can I import VMWare OVA file to oVirt 4.0?

2016-12-12 Thread Derek Atkins
Try running virt-v2v by hand on your host:

LIBGUESTFS_BACKEND=direct annotate-output virt-v2v -v -x -i ova
/tmp/rhel_Vsp-4.4.0.GA-53.ova -of raw -o null

Maybe it will give you more insight into the error?

For the bugzilla mentioned, i saw it and i applied the sampling suggestion to
see if the DB grows more slowly.

For our environment we have today (and growing)
* 4 DC
* 5 Clusters
* 9 Storages domains (iscsi)
* About 360 virtual disks in storage domains
* 13 Hosts (growing)
* About 250 VMs (growing)

* The engine + DWH + DB server are all on the same server (hosted engine)
* DB Size is about 3.2 GB (after the vacuum)
* As all was on the same box, the engine setup via appliance was preferred and
it was not possible to customize the size of the appliance at install/update,
we wanted to keep the DB size as small as possible, but with some history. I
saw that the engine appliance size will be customizable soon, so we will maybe
extend the engine disk at update and keep a little bit more history or decrease
the sampling interval again.

Have a nice day.

Re: [ovirt-users] How can I import VMWare OVA file to oVirt 4.0?

2016-12-12 Thread Derek Atkins
Hi,

Did you perhaps run out of disk space in /tmp? I'm not sure where the
virt-v2v does it work, but the error "Conversion of VM from exteral
enironment failed: copy-disk stream closed unexpectedly" seems to imply an
error there.

I had no issues myself on 4.0.5 (modulo setfiles taking a very long time
in a few cases).

BTW:
L0 host is a nuc6i5syh that has this cpu:
http://ark.intel.com/search/?q=i5-6260U
with ESXi 6.0 U2 free. From ESXi mgmt page the cpu appears as:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwoPbcrMv8mvc08yUllKUG84Z1E/
view?usp=sharing

The L1 host has been configured as guest with RH EL 7.x with these
configurations:
- in CPU options
CPU/MMU Virtualization: hardware CPU and MMU

- in edit settings, advanced:
hypervisor.cpuid.v0 = "FALSE"

Re: [ovirt-users] oVirt / OVN / MTU

2016-12-12 Thread Lance Richardson
Hi Devin,

This blog posting does a good job of explaining how to configure OVN
DHCP support:

http://blog.spinhirne.com/2016/09/an-introduction-to-ovn-routing.html

The ovn-nb man page lists the DHCP options that can be provided, including
mtu:

http://openvswitch.org/support/dist-docs/ovn-nb.5.html

And the ovn-nbctl man page has details about the command-line interface
for setting DHCP options:

http://openvswitch.org/support/dist-docs/ovn-nbctl.8.html

I have very little experience using OVN's DHCP support, I've copied Numan
in case I've left anything out.

Hello,
where to find details about this info?
I ask because on my tests in a nested environment with 4.1 beta on CentOS
7.2 + CR (that should match upcoming 7.3) I was not able to power on the
SHE VM using qemu-kvm-ev-2.6.0-27.1.el7.x86_64.rpm manually downloaded by
http://buildlogs.centos.org/centos/7/virt/x86_64/kvm-common

Got error

While I was able to install and run self hosted engine using the provided

I'm the oVirt DWH maintainer and I would really appreciate if you can share
what led you to this decision?
And some details on your setup.

Do you have it installed on the same machine as the engine or on a remote
one?
Is your database remote or local?
What is the scale of you environment ? Number of hosts/vms...

This will may help us with the bug Roy mentioned.

[ovirt-users] [HEADS UP] CentOS 7.3 is rolling out, need qemu-kvm-ev 2.6

2016-12-12 Thread Sandro Bonazzola
Hi,
as you probably noticed, CentOS 7.3 is rolling out right now and will be
announced pretty soon.
Please note that due to new libvirt shipped within CentOS 7.3, it is
required to update qemu-kvm-ev to 2.6 at the same time.

If you're using CentOS Virt SIG rpms / repos for oVirt this should happen
automatically.
If you're using only ovirt repositories be sure to have qemu-kvm-ev 2.6 if
you update to CentOS 7.3.

In terms of ovirt repositories, qemu-kvm-ev 2.6 is available right now in
ovirt-master-snapshot-static, ovirt-4.0-snapshot-static, and ovirt-4.0-pre
(contains 4.0.6 RC4 rpms going to be announced in a few minutes.)

Thanks,

Baptiste thank you very much for submitting this, very helpful.
I wonder if it was the engine or dwh db who took most of the 8gb.
FYI there is a discussion on increasing the interval to 60 on *Bug 1395608*
 - DWH sampling is too
high

Re: [ovirt-users] oVirt / OVN / MTU

2016-12-12 Thread Marcin Mirecki
Devin,

oVirt does not currently support changing external network mtu from within
ovirt (it rather relies on the provider handling this internally).

If you are using OVN DHCP (have subnets defined for a network), you can modify
the OVN DHCP options directly in the OVN database.
I have never actually tested this myself, but looking at the OVN documentation,
it should do the job on the ports.

The standard OVN way to do so is to use the "ovn-vsctl set DHCP_Options ..."
command.
(Unfortunately as I am trying it now it tells me that modifying DHCP_Options is
not supported)
Alternatively, you can use the OVS python API (let me know if you need any help
on this).

Lance,
Would changing the dhcp:options:mtu suffice?
Could you please comment on how to modify the DHCP MTU using the OVN cmd line?

Thanks,
Marcin
