Please check/share the following logs on the engine machine:

[ovirt-users] "gluster-ansible-roles is not installed on Host" error on Cockpit

2019-03-09 Thread Hesham Ahmed
On a new 4.3.1 oVirt Node installation, when trying to deploy HCI
(also when trying adding a new gluster volume to existing clusters)
using Cockpit, an error is displayed "gluster-ansible-roles is not
installed on Host. To continue deployment, please install
gluster-ansible-roles on Host and try again". There is no package
named gluster-ansible-roles in the repositories:

[root@localhost ~]# yum install gluster-ansible-roles
Loaded plugins: enabled_repos_upload, fastestmirror, imgbased-persist,
package_upload, product-id, search-disabled-repos,
subscription-manager, vdsmupgrade
This system is not registered with an entitlement server. You can use
subscription-manager to register.

 * ovirt-4.3-epel: mirror.horizon.vn
No package gluster-ansible-roles available.

Uploading Enabled Repositories Report
Cannot upload enabled repos report, is this client registered?

This is due to check introduced here:
https://gerrit.ovirt.org/#/c/98023/1/dashboard/src/helpers/AnsibleUtil.js

Changing the line from:
[ "rpm", "-qa", "gluster-ansible-roles" ], { "superuser":"require" }
to
[ "rpm", "-qa", "gluster-ansible" ], { "superuser":"require" }
resolves the issue. The above code snippet is installed at
/usr/share/cockpit/ovirt-dashboard/app.js on oVirt node and can be
patched by running "sed -i 's/gluster-ansible-roles/gluster-ansible/g'
/usr/share/cockpit/ovirt-dashboard/app.js && systemctl restart
cockpit"

[ovirt-users] Re: Ovirt 4.3.1 problem with HA agent

2019-03-09 Thread Strahil Nikolov
 Hello again,
Latest update: the engine is up and running (or at least the login portal).
[root@ovirt1 ~]# hosted-engine --check-livelinessHosted Engine is up!
I have found online the xml for the network:
[root@ovirt1 ~]# cat ovirtmgmt_net.xml   vdsm-ovirtmgmt

Sadly, I had to create a symbolic link to the main disk in
/var/run/vdsm/storage , as it was missing.
So, what's next.
Issues up to now:2 OVF - 0 bytesProblem with local copy of the HostedEngine
config - used xml from an old vdsm logMissing vdsm-ovirtmgmt definitionNo link
for the main raw disk in /var/run/vdsm/storage .
Can you hint me how to recover the 2 OVF tars now ?

[ovirt-users] OKD / Openshift under oVirt

2019-03-09 Thread michael
I have ovirt currently running with 3 hyper-converged nodes, and loving it.
I've had some issues with kubernetes and would prefer to try out openshift /
OKD, but the trick is i'd like to do it in a fault-tolerant way, with a load
balancer, 2 masters and 3 works, but I can't seem to find a good way to do it,
is there anyone that can offer help? I tried using what was posted to the
blog, but it was a single-node install and was never updated with part 2.

 Hi Simone,
and thanks for your help.
So far I found out that there is some problem with the local copy of the
HostedEngine config (see attached part of vdsm.log).
I have found out an older xml configuration (in an old vdsm.log) and defining
the VM works, but powering it on reports:

192.168.1.243/24 is the one of the IPs in ctdb..

So , now comes the question - is there an xml in the logs that defines the
network ?My hope is to power up the HostedEngine properly and hope that it will
push all the configurations to the right places ... maybe this is way too
optimistic.
At least I have learned a lot for oVirt.

[ovirt-users] Bandwidth problem

2019-03-09 Thread Leo David
Hello Everyone,
I have 10Gb connections setup for all the hosts in the cluster, for both
management/vm and gluster traffic ( separate network cards )
The problem is that i just cannot pass 1Gb/s traffic between vms ( even
between vms running on the same hosts ! - which makes the things more
weird... ). Traffic measured by using iperf tool.
Is there a way I can check waht could be the problem ? Network card type,
vm drivers, any suggestion ? I just do not know where to look for a
possible cause.
Thank you very much !

Leo

I have observed the same behaviour with oVirt 4.3.XY

Delving deeper, in the oVirt engine 'users' table, external_id is *not*
being set for AD users as documented in (e.g.)
engines/packaging/dbscripts/common_sp.sql

"The external identifier is the user identifier converted to an array of bytes:"

ovirt 4.3.0
user@domain | f3de0b27-c2a0-463b-a2ff-d480bd88c77f |
ece7b8c2-4983-4c1e-9a33-c28d58d40213

And under ovirt 4.2.8 for comparison:

username | user_id| external_id
user@domain | 364d176e-8813-4e67-bdd0-dc10b823d23c |
af5bbg/eTkuktBPXW4Ak5g==

Further information on replicating the issue:

1) Configure LDAP authentication:

https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/admin-guide/chap-Users_and_Roles.html#configuring-an-external-ldap-provider

2) Add an LDAP group via the Administration Portal:

Administration >> Users > 'Add' button, click 'Group'
radio-button, select the relevant LDAP authorization
select the relevant LDAP authorization provider in the
drop-down list under 'Search', enter the LDAP group
in the search text-box then click 'GO'.

The found group should appear below. Select the
toggle-button to the left of the group then click
'Add and Close'.

3) Add SuperUser system permission for the LDAP group.

Back under Administration >> Users, click the 'Group'
button if groups are not already displayed. Click on
the LDAP group added in the previous step then click
'Permissions' -> 'Add System Permissions'

4) Log into the Administration Portal as an LDAP group member.
Logout then log back into the Administration Portal as a
member of the LDAP group specified above. Login should be
successful because that user will inherit the SuperUser
system permission but note the following issues below:

- under Administration >> Users, note that a 'User' icon
is displayed for the LDAP user rather than an 'Admin' icon.
This is in contrast to 4.2.8, where an Admin icon would
be displayed.

5) Repeat step 4 above.
If you logout then log back into the Administration Portal as
the same member of the LDAP group specified above then
check Administration >> Users, an additional user entry appears:
same First Name, Last Name, Authorization provider, Namespace
and E-mail.
