[ovirt-users] status of uploaded images complete and not OK

2019-04-04 Thread Gianluca Cecchi
Hello,
I'm using oVirt 4.3.2 and I have an iSCSI based storage domain.
I see that if I upload an iso image or a qcow2 file, at the end it remains
in "Complete" status and not "OK"
See here:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rTuVB1_MGxudVCx-ok7mE2BirWF0rx7x/view?usp=sharing

I can use them, but it seems a bit strange and in fact I had a problem in
putting a host into maintenance due to this. See here:
https://lists.ovirt.org/archives/list/users@ovirt.org/message/4UJ75YMYSPW5QIV7JVANSVHBSICVB72L/

In fact from db point of view I can see this (for other 2 more uploads done
in March as described above), where status remains in phase 9

Any hint? anyone to verify an upload on block storage on 4.3.2?

Thanks,

[ovirt-users] Eve-ng KVM acceleration not working in Ovirt

2019-04-04 Thread robertodg
Hello everyone!

Actually I'm encountering a huge problem that I'll explain in steps, in order
to be clear and discursive. First of all, I've deployed eve-ng Community
Edition 2.0.3-92 on a KVM with those specs:

Server DELL PowerEdge R420
CPU: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2420 0 @ 1.90GHz (24 Core total)
RAM: 24GB RAM
HDD: 4x 2TB

All was working fine, KVM virtualization was working well and i was able to
deploy qemu images like PaloAlto (PANOS-8.0.5) with qemu-options accell=kvm
without any problem.

After an internal company upgrade, i've decided to migrate this tool on Ovirt
4.2, in a node with following specs:
SuperMicro Server
CPU: Intel (R) Xeon (R) Platinum 8160T @ 2.10GHz (96 Core Total)
RAM: 256 GB (16x16) DDR4 2666Mhz Samsung M393A2K40BB2-CTD
HDD: x 2 Seagate ST500LM021-1KJ152 SATA 3.0 500GB
SSD: x 2 SSD Samsung SSD 850 PRO 1TB
NVMe: x 4 KXG50ZNV512G TOSHIBA 512GB (RAID0)

Before migration eve-ng had 12 cores, 12 GB RAM and 90 GB HDD. After migration
he has now 16 Core, 32GB RAM and RAID0 100GB.

On Ovirt Pass-Through Host CPU is activated on VM, CPU nesting is activated too
and after new release (2.0.5-95) those are eve-info command logs:

eve-ng-info-ovirt: https://paste.fedoraproject.org/paste/Mom-~CXmnlU3cWCUdxPXFg

Those are the previous eve-info command logs (on KVM):

eve-ng-info-kvm: https://paste.fedoraproject.org/paste/AhqiapiyG5lJcHQBlrbJgw

Also, here you can find output of cpuinfo of both node (KVM and Ovirt):

cpuinfo-kvm: https://paste.fedoraproject.org/paste/6TQDHxCmiEMosF1qtcdSDQ
cpuinfo-ovirt: https://paste.fedoraproject.org/paste/LmieowOvc7WwkEWW9JMduQ

On both nodes, output of cat /sys/module/kvm_intel/parameters/nested is Y

at least, this is the output of virsh dumpxml of both nodes:

eve-ng-ovirt.xml: https://paste.fedoraproject.org/paste/s5SbdWhBHTWJs9O2Be~y8w
eve-ng-kvm.xml: https://paste.fedoraproject.org/paste/Yz1E9taAkNT-JyTj8cBR-g

However, after migration, i'm not able to deploy qemu images with accell=kvm
enabled anymore. With same example PANOS-8.0.5 i'm able to run this qemu image
only with this setting removed.
Thinking on a migration problem, i've deployed a new eve-ng VM with same specs
but problem is still present.

Have you any idea on what might be the problem?

Thanks for your support.

[ovirt-users] Re: NPE for GetValidHostsForVmsQuery

2019-04-04 Thread Andrej Krejcir
Hi,

The NPE is because the CPU load of a VM is missing. It happens when the VM
statistics are not updated.

This is definitely a bug, missing CPU load should not prevent migration.
I will open a Bugzilla ticket.

Can you share some more details about the VMs?
Does the NPE happen for all VMs or only some specific types?

Thanks,
Andrej

[ovirt-users] virt-v2v from Fedora 29 to oVirt 4.3 and ovirtsdk4

2019-04-04 Thread Gianluca Cecchi
Hello,
I'm trying to migrate a VM from a Fedora 29 system to oVirt 4.3.2.
I'm trying to use the "-o rhv-upload" option that should be faster.

virt-v2v -o rhv-upload -oc https://my_engine/ovirt-engine/api -os
my_sd_domain -op /tmp/ovirt-admin-password -of raw -oo
rhv-cafile=/tmp/ca.pem -oo rhv-direct --bridge nat:ovn193 my_vm

But I get
"
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "", line 1, in
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'ovirtsdk4'
virt-v2v: error: the Python module ‘ovirtsdk4’ could not be loaded, is
it installed? See previous messages for problems.

If reporting bugs, run virt-v2v with debugging enabled and include the
complete output:

  virt-v2v -v -x [...]
"

I see on Fedora 29 repos thease are the only relevant available packages:

[root@ope46 ~]# dnf search ovirt
...
ovirt-engine-cli.noarch : oVirt Engine Command Line Interface
...
ovirt-engine-sdk-java-javadoc.noarch : Javadocs for ovirt-engine-sdk-java
...
ovirt-engine-sdk-java.noarch : oVirt Engine Software Development Kit (Java)
...
python2-ovirt-engine-sdk.noarch : oVirt Engine Software Development Kit
(Python)
...

and python2-ovirt-engine-sdk.noarch is related to
source ovirt-engine-sdk-python-3.6.9.1-7.fc29.src.rpm so only sdk3

On oVirt repos I see here only for F28:
https://resources.ovirt.org/pub/ovirt-4.3/rpm/fc28/x86_64/

trying to install

# dnf install
https://resources.ovirt.org/pub/ovirt-4.3/rpm/fc28/x86_64/python3-ovirt-engine-sdk4-4.3.0-1.fc28.x86_64.rpm

gives:
Error:
 Problem: conflicting requests
  - nothing provides python(abi) = 3.6 needed by
python3-ovirt-engine-sdk4-4.3.0-1.fc28.x86_64
(try to add '--skip-broken' to skip uninstallable packages)

How can I get correct rpm packages to interact with v4 api of 4.3?

Thanks,
Gianluca

Thanks for clarifications. Digging around RHV 4.2 vs 4.3beta docs I see now
that "Network Port Security" will be also one of the new features for it
In 4.3 beta the third option is explictly defined as "Inherited"
(reflecting your explanation) and not "Undefined" as in current oVirt 4.3.2)

Indeed. Because in Openstack web mgmt interface all the settings related to
security groups are simplified and intuitive, but here we have not...
Also because it seems from rhv 4.3beta manual that creation of security
groups themselves will not be possible through web gui...

This depends on the scenario.
Bonding two VirtIO vNICs connected to the same network would be not
increase the throughput, since a single vNIC has by default no
artificial bandwidth limit.
But bonding two SR-IOV VF on two different NICs might be increase the
performance.

[ovirt-users] ovirt 4.2 error uploading ISO file

2019-04-04 Thread wodel youchi
Hi,

I am having trouble to upload ISO files using engine-iso-uploader, here is
the error :
engine-iso-uploader -i ISO upload file.iso
engine-iso-uploader list

*ERROR: Unable to connect to REST API at
https://engine01.example.com:443/ovirt-engine/api
 due to SDK
errorMessage: Error while sending HTTP request: (35, 'Encountered end of
file')*

Even listing produces the same error.
I get the same error when using a wrong password.

I tried with the engine-iso-uploader with NFS, and it works perfectly

Regards.

It means that newly created ports under that network will inherit the
port security value from the network - e.g. if the network's port
security attribute is active, so will the newly created port's port
security.

Port security on a port means 2 things:
#1 - security group rules *will* apply to the VM having that port attached
#2 - only the specified mac address will be allowed to send/receive
through that port. MAC spoofing protection is applied.

> - what is the meaning of "Undefined" option for it other than "Enabled" and
> "Disabled"?

It means that the network will inherit the value from the provider's
configuration - you can check what it translates to in
/etc/ovirt-provider-ovn/conf.d/10-setup-ovirt-provider-ovn.conf

> - it seems I cannot edit the value for "Network port security" option of an
> existing OVN network, is it correct?

You cannot do it *through the UI*. You can use ansible / REST api to
update the network - or ports - port_security_enabled value.

I am working on creating a couple of playbooks for this; hopefully I
can provide those early next week. It would be helpful to agilize this
process.

>
> Thanks again,
> Gianluca

There is a notion of 'default' group, that ensures connectivity to all
VMs whose ports belong to that group - and all ports with active port
security, by default do.

I'm not sure how you reached that situation, but let's first make sure
of a couple of things; please provider the output of:
  - ovn-nbctl list logical_switch_port # this will feature info of the
port security value, and of which groups the port belongs to - the
latter in the 'external_ids' column.
  - ovn-nbctl list port_group # this is where the security groups are
stored; it has associations to the ACLs belonging to the group, and of
the ports that are using it
  - ovn-nbctl list address_set # this is where the IPs per group are
stored. security groups are an L3 concept.

A pastebin with the aforementioned info is welcome.

I confirm that if I create a new ovn with security port "Disabled" the VMs
can communicate both when running on the same host and on hosts even in
different datacenters ;-)
I unplug vnic / change ovn network of vms to match the new one / plug vnics
again and they communicate.
I unplug vnic / change ovn network of vms to the old one with port securty
enabled / plug vnics again and they don't communicate.

Questions:
- what is the role of the "Network port security" option for an OVN network?
- what is the meaning of "Undefined" option for it other than "Enabled" and
"Disabled"?
- it seems I cannot edit the value for "Network port security" option of an
existing OVN network, is it correct?

Thanks again,
Gianluca

[ovirt-users] Re: [Gluster-users] Gluster 5.5 slower than 3.12.15

2019-04-04 Thread Strahil
Hi Amar,

I would like to test Cluster v6 , but as I'm quite new to oVirt - I'm not sure
if oVirt <-> Gluster will communicate properly

Did anyone test rollback from v6 to v5.5 ? If rollback is possible - I would be
happy to give it a try.
