[ovirt-users] Re: How to upgrade from ovirt 4.3.6 to 4.4.x ?

2021-06-06 Thread Strahil Nikolov via Users
You will need to update to 4.3.10 first. Also 4.4 is using EL8, so you will need
to reinstall one of the existing hosts or add a new temporarily.

The "non-offline-mode" is also for updating packages, not only for
appliance installation.

This is especially important because we not always release a new
appliance on new releases, so "non-offline-mode" makes sure you update
to the latest engine prior to engine-setup - and this is especially
important on restore-from-file.

Indeed.

If you share vm xml for the ha vms and the regular vms it will be easier to
understand your system.

The best way is to use:

sudo virsh -r dumpxml {vm-name}

Yes.

You can run the backup in many ways, for example you can run it via ssh
from another host, finding where vms are running, and connecting to
the host to perform a backup. This is outside of ovirt, since ovirt does not
have built-in a backup feature. We have backup API and example code using it
which can be used to build a backup solution.

If you have the engine volume content's intact, you can 'tune'
ovirt-ha-broker/ovirt-ha-agent to start the HE in that specific Gluster
TSP/volume.
Yet, It's far simpler and reliable to just restore from backup.

As far as I remember a feature was introduced that allows the end-user to
verify the disk checksum after an upload.
Most probably it's not integrated in the WEB UI, but the API should have it.

[ovirt-users] Re: deployment fails - debug: var=server_cpu_dict

2021-06-06 Thread Strahil Nikolov via Users
Thanks Didi,
it will be even better if we see the output of the debug with and without
edk2-ovmf.

I reported a similar (identical?) failure at [1]. Please check that thread.

It seems like the recommended workaround is to remove (or not install)
edk2-ovmf.

[ovirt-users] Re: [oVirt 4.4.6] Offline deployment of hosted engine

2021-06-06 Thread Strahil Nikolov via Users
Hi Didi,
can't we just make ansible check via ansible  package facts the status of the
appliance and if it's available set to offline mode.I can take a look in the
Ansible code for that purpose.Otherwise , the cockpit installer can have a tick
for offline mode.

Please try with:

- appliance installed

- '--ansible-extra-vars=he_offline_deployment=true'

- latest released code (with your custom patch removed)

If it still fails, please open a bug and attach all relevant logs. Thanks!

Best regards,

[ovirt-users] Re: How to handle broken NFS storage?

2021-06-06 Thread Strahil Nikolov via Users
That's correct.Ovirt knows and ensures that this NFS is available at all time
and will take any actions to recover the situation. When you use autofs outside
the oVirt, you still have that backup location and also it will umount when not
in use.
