Thanks for the clarification. I don't have
/usr/share/ovirt-engine/ansible-runner/artifacts on my engine machine.
Which version do you use? Perhaps file a bug in bugzilla and attach a
sosreport.

What do you mean by that? Did you try changing it and saw that this
does not affect it at all? Or a specific setting? Something else?

Thanks and best regards,

[ovirt-users] Deploying ovirt+gluster hyperconverged with standalone engine

2021-10-05 Thread J W
I'm looking for the proper steps to deploy ovirt+gluster hyperconverged with
standalone engine as the scenario doesn't seem to be covered here:
https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/gluster-hyperconverged/chap-Deploying_Hyperconverged.html

I have attempted to:
1) Deploy standalone engine
2) deploy 3 nodes and ran gluster deployment, stopping before the engine deploy
3) Added hosts to standalone engine

I then attempt to add the gluster volumes to the standalone engine by
specifying host1:/volume as glusterfs but the volume does not successfully add.

Is there another perferred method for this type of deployment?

[ovirt-users] Re: fresh hyperconverged Gluster setup failed in ovirt 4.4.8

2021-10-05 Thread Eddie Garcia
I have been having this issue as well with no solution working but I came
across something interesting. In selinux-policy 3.14.3-77 they removed the
glusterd selinux module.

https://centos.pkgs.org/8-stream/centos-baseos-x86_64/selinux-policy-3.14.3-78.el8.noarch.rpm.html

so that policy doesn exist anymore for ansible to apply. I plan on testing
installing an older version into an ovirt node box to test which defaults
as of 4.4.8 to selinux-policy version 3.14.3-79.el8.

A clean install of CentOS 8 using latest iso has version 3.14.3-67.el8_4.2
and I can verify that manually setting policy with command 'semanage
fcontext -a -t glusterd_brick_t "/gluster_bricks(/.*)?"' is completed
successfully.

[ovirt-users] Re: qemu-guest-agent not reporting IP address on boot?

2021-10-05 Thread Schreuders, Cliffe
Thank you. It does look like that bug could be related.

I had an earlier version of the VM template which continued to work correctly,
and an updated version (via apt-get dist-upgrade) that did not report IP
addresses correctly.

I suspected that it might be related to the new ovirt/qemu user agent, so I
hold/pinned "ovirt-guest-agent" on the older template before re-running the
software updates.

This worked to create an updated Kali VM that reports it's IP address (albeit
more-or-less stuck with whatever dependencies the last ovirt-guest-agent has)
so it seems this is indeed an issue with qemu-guest-agent vs ovirt-guest-agent.

Cheers,
Cliffe.

[ovirt-users] Import ISCSI target as data domain, cannot see old data

2021-10-05 Thread joyzhao93
Hi Team,
Hope you are doing well.

I had a standalone Ovirt Engine with 2 hosts, one 2TB ISCSI data domain (dell
equallogic). Today the Ovirt Engine machine crashed so we have to bring up a
new one, setup is good and when I try to import ISCSI data domain I can see
volumes/Luns, but after import, Ovirt shows the volume is empty - 2TB free (so
all old data on the ISCSI volume is not presenting). However when I login to
the ISCSI target machine, it shows the old data (around 400GB) is in use.
Seems like the new Ovirt Engine cannot detect the old ISCSI data domain disk
content.

Thank you,
Sincerely,
SYZhao

[ovirt-users] Engine backup / restore

2021-10-05 Thread duparchy
Hi,

I'm testing Backup / Restore of the engine.

Once the engine is restored ; how to resync the engine database with the
"reality" of the Storage Domains ? (I'm talking about anything that could have
been done after the engine backup : Deleted / Created VMs ; Snapshots taken
since the backup, etc..

I'm on 4.3, Oracle LVM context.

 My Tests :

- Create a snapshot of some random VM. Say VM-1
- Enable that VM preview and start it on a host.

- Stop OLVM engine server.
- Start a full backup copy of that OLVM engine (That backup being a snapshot
taken, say, yesterday. Our test OLVM engine being a VM running in another
separate virltualization infrastucture.)

The restored OLVM does not show the existence of the VM-1 snapshot. It only
shows the VM running on the active instance. No snapshot.
I tried Storage Domain / Scan disks. No refresh to be seen.

Hey,
No, i am talking about the ansible-runner artifacts, when the ovirt-engine runs
a playbook (which is a task in the webui for example), it creates a folder in
/usr/share/ovirt-engine/ansible-runner/artifacts for each run.

There's a config.yml in /etc/ansible-runner-service but for some reason it does
not affect anything.

Thanks.

2021-10-05 Thread Martin Necas
Hi,

if you are talking about the
`/var/log/ovirt-engine/ansible-runner-service.log`.
The logrotate is located in `/etc/logrotate.d/ansible-runner-service` and
should archive weekly.
Should work automatically from ansible-runner-service 1.0.7.

The logroate includes daily the `/etc/logrotate.d` in
`/etc/cron.daily/logrotate` so it should be loaded.
It is possible that you have broken the logrotate/cron.

I think the only thing out-of-the-box that should clean these logs is
logrotate, for which we indeed supply a conf file.
Does logrotate run on your system? Should run daily by default, by cron.

Hey,
the ovirt-engine runs ansible playbooks and uses the ansible-runner project,
what happens is that if you have a lot of tasks the artifacts of ansible-runner
fills up the disk space of the ovirt-engine.
They are located in /usr/share/ovirt-engine/ansible-runner
There's a config in /etc/ansible-runner-service that controls the artifacts
rotation, for some reason it does not kick in, in general there's a way to
manually run the ansible-runner and let it rotate the artifacts, i want to
understand how to do this without messing up the ovirt-engine.

not sure what you mean by "KVM/libvirt storage domain", but what matters is
what's inside OVA file which you specify on line 63 (https://github.com/oVirt/
python-ovirt-engine-sdk4/blob/main/examples/import_vm_from_ova.py#L63).

See Arik's answer for more detail explanation. (maybe we should add it direcly
into example?)

You may mean the page
https://ovirt.mydomains/ovirt-engine/apidoc/#/services/disk/methods/update

It works for me, but the information I see on it seems insufficient (unusable)
to me:

update

This operation updates the disk with the appropriate parameters. The only field
that can be updated is qcow_version.

For example, disk update can be done using the following request:

PUT /ovirt-engine/api/disks/123

With a request body like this:

  qcow2_v3

Since the backend operation is asynchronous, the disk element that is returned
to the user might not be synced with the changed properties.

I have HTTP Error 400: Bad Request Request syntactically incorrect. But syntax
is OK:
