[ovirt-users] How to view multi ovirt-manager VM ?

2023-01-18 Thread rak kim
Hello, I'm kim

I have 7 ovirt-manager running on each service

I want to manage 7 ovirt-manger on one platform

Is there any program to view VMs at each ovirt-manager for one platform ?
(like multi-cloud platform ?)

I guess I just need to be able to control/view the VM.

[ovirt-users] Re: Ovirt 4.4.10 running on RHEL 8.7

2023-01-18 Thread eshwayri
I am running 4.5.4 on RedHat EL8.7(~ish), so the latest is possible; not so
sure about 4.4.10. I had to look through my logs to see what order I did
things in.

04/29/22 Upgraded to 4.4.9-1
10/08/22 @ 19:19 Upgraded to 4.4.10.2-1
10/08/22 @ 19:43 Installed the new CentOS stream repos (as detailed in the link)
10/08/22 @ 19:46 Installed centos-release-ovirt45
11/27/22 @ 17:46 Upgraded to 4.5.2.5-1
11/27/22 @ 18:21 Upgraded to EL8.6

I suspect I wanted to go to 4.5 on 10/08, but ran into problems. Waited for
the next release of 4.5, and actually upgraded about a month later. It doesn't
look like I ran 4.4.10 on EL8 -- sorry. I sort of remember there were issues
wit the regular release CentOS repos going away, which is why that link has you
add the new stream repos. At the same time there were missing packages on the
oVirt side; not sure if everything was resolved. I ended up moving up to 4.5.

If you want to upgrade I do recommend you go to 8.6 first, and then at the end
go to 8.7. Reason is the "~ish" when I say I am running EL8.7. You get a
package collision.

Problem: installed package centos-stream-release-8.6-1.el8.noarch obsoletes
redhat-release < 9 provided by redhat-release-8.7-0.3.el8.x86_64

With -nobest I am effectively running 8.7, so I tolerate this. Hoping when 8.8
comes out this will work itself out.

2023-01-18 Thread Diego Ercolani
Thank you very much.
I think the process is very overcomplicated I successfully setup the engine
installing a fresh engine and then restore the backup... but then, when I
tryied to register the new storage... everything gone wrong.
There shoud be some shortcircuits that permit to overcome problems in some
manner... it's not possible that with an error under ansible you have to
restart from the beginning. Is frustating, megabytes and megabytes of
unreadable log why these overcomplications?

Currently I'm at the point that I have restored the engine in the localstorage
but I need to copy it to the destination storage but ansible prefer to exit
with error. frustrating

[ovirt-users] Re: pass-through CPU

2023-01-18 Thread Strahil Nikolov via Users
If you have hosts with the exact  same cpu, you can enable cpu passthrough and
set the hosts  from the "Specific Host(s)" section. Also you can set the
migration mode to "Allow manual and automatic migration".
I guess you already noticed that VMs with CPU passthrough have access to more
CPU instructions compared to the Virtualized one.
Best Regards,Strahil Nikolov

Hi,

What are the pro and cons of enabling pass-through CPU ?

It is a greyed option for a VM, unless specific host(s) is/are selected.
That's the thing : it's possible to select all hosts..., so, it does not make
difference w/ "Start on any host" option

2023-01-18 Thread James Wadsworth
Hi there,

we currently have ovirt 4.4.9 running on RHEL 8.5.

Can we upgrade the cluster to ovirt 4.4.10 on RHEL 8.7?
Do we need to following these steps in this link?

https://www.ovirt.org/download/install_on_rhel.html

Many thanks, James

[ovirt-users] Re: VM backup issue on oVirt 4.4.7

2023-01-18 Thread Don Dupuis
Sandro
I didn't open a ticket yet as Nvidia doesn't support anything above RHV 4.4
and since RHV moved to maintenance mode, I didn't see a likely chance it
would be looked at. If I call Nvidia support they will tell me what I am
doing isn't supported, so I have to go through our partnership so they will
talk to me. I will talk to them shortly, but I have a customer delivery to
get done and oVirt 4.4.7 does everything I need to do, except now I have
this backup issue that worked in 4.5. I can provide further info if you
need on this issue. Windows guest is 21H2. I will hope to solve vgpu
problem as I will need Windows 11 and Windows 2022 guest working. Thanks
for your support

Don

Do you refer to -ha's dns monitor? This is done by calling 'dig'
without specifying a server, so it uses (by default) your system-wide
settings, usually in /etc/resolv.conf.

If you meant to ask about something else, please clarify.

[ovirt-users] Re: 4.5.4 Hosted-Engine: change hosted-engine storage

2023-01-18 Thread Volenbovskyi, Konstantin
Hi,
The problem/problems don't seem to be related to HE storage in any way.
As you don't use OVN I would make sure to remove any parameters in answer files
that mention 'ovn' or something about external providers (and let ovengine
setup prompt for any values interactively)
and make sure that none of the networks have that 'external network' checkmark
with ovn as provider in ovEngine GUI
(but yes, I see that you explicitly said 'I don't have OVN in my dump'...)

For Keycloak probably you see the change described in
https://www.mail-archive.com/users@ovirt.org/msg70682.html and thus it is
indeed likely that you need to use OVESETUP_CONFIG/keycloakEnable=bool:False

All in all, there are 3 primary things to think of: backup, answers file and
ovirt version (and of course things like OS/networking aspects...) and you
might narrow down the troubleshooting by using some test host and then don't use
backup/adapt or don't use answers file.

BR,
Konstantin
