[ovirt-users] Re: give cloud-init the VM name
Hi, I think 1 will suffice, in case I will open a RFE as stated in 2. Thanks to all for the responses. Have a nice day. ___ Users mailing list -- users@ovirt.org To unsubscribe send an email to users-le...@ovirt.org Privacy Statement: https://www.ovirt.org/privacy-policy.html oVirt Code of Conduct: https://www.ovirt.org/community/about/community-guidelines/ List Archives: https://lists.ovirt.org/archives/list/users@ovirt.org/message/VQYLN5YUZBTPELRIBTIVMHYSAF54WB3W/
[ovirt-users] Re: give cloud-init the VM name
> I thought that:- you know the name of the future VM I will try to clarify: I'm trying to obtain from the oVirt engine the name of the VM created inside the pool. For example if the VM in pool LinuxPool is called LinuxMachine-1 I want the cloud-init to know that the VM is called LinuxMachine-1 and with this info add the suffix using the method you described. Again, thank you a lot for the response. ___ Users mailing list -- users@ovirt.org To unsubscribe send an email to users-le...@ovirt.org Privacy Statement: https://www.ovirt.org/privacy-policy.html oVirt Code of Conduct: https://www.ovirt.org/community/about/community-guidelines/ List Archives: https://lists.ovirt.org/archives/list/users@ovirt.org/message/GKIRUVQ7R65MH6QU73XVDF5GCQCKDZTK/
[ovirt-users] Re: give cloud-init the VM name
Hi, sorry for the late response, can you expand a bit more on what you said? in particular, if I understood correctly, you are suggesting I should launch a script to modify the name using oVirt's 'before_vm_start' hook? And also in which way can i get the VM name using this method? Thanks a lot in advance, Best Regards, LC ___ Users mailing list -- users@ovirt.org To unsubscribe send an email to users-le...@ovirt.org Privacy Statement: https://www.ovirt.org/privacy-policy.html oVirt Code of Conduct: https://www.ovirt.org/community/about/community-guidelines/ List Archives: https://lists.ovirt.org/archives/list/users@ovirt.org/message/2A3CREYYT2YC7TGVWD7QZNQYP3NBYX7B/
[ovirt-users] give cloud-init the VM name
Hi list, I have an oVirt node 4.4.9 installation with hyperconverged structure, on which i've created a pool of Linux VM (CentOS Stream 8). I would like set as hostname the name of the VM + a static suffix appended at the end of the name (EXAMPLE: .static.suffix ), is there a way to pass to cloud-init the name of the VM and do this via cloud-init? I've tried to look for something in oVirt and cloud-init documentation and found nothing. Thanks a lot to everybody for the help and have a nice day. ___ Users mailing list -- users@ovirt.org To unsubscribe send an email to users-le...@ovirt.org Privacy Statement: https://www.ovirt.org/privacy-policy.html oVirt Code of Conduct: https://www.ovirt.org/community/about/community-guidelines/ List Archives: https://lists.ovirt.org/archives/list/users@ovirt.org/message/K6S6E3AOVQYAFTHK6MDJ4N6EFWWRFFIF/
[ovirt-users] Re: on-demand machine creation for VDI project
Thanks a lot for the detailed answer, the first part was just a personal preference and it's good to know that the performance will not be impacted by the presence of the inactive VMs. As for the second part I will set the pool to "manual" mode and configure the console disconnect option as you suggested. ___ Users mailing list -- users@ovirt.org To unsubscribe send an email to users-le...@ovirt.org Privacy Statement: https://www.ovirt.org/privacy-policy.html oVirt Code of Conduct: https://www.ovirt.org/community/about/community-guidelines/ List Archives: https://lists.ovirt.org/archives/list/users@ovirt.org/message/BVR7VC6RTLOGXTPQC3HLL7VEDWDP7WQV/
[ovirt-users] on-demand machine creation for VDI project
Hi List, I've made an oVirt node installation (oVirt ver. 4.4.9) for a VDI project and I'd like to ask if it is possible to create an empty pool with a maximum number of machine and as the machine are required by the end user (so when the users use the think client to request the provisioning of a machine of the pool in question) the pool will dynamically create the machine and link it to the end user. To specify once more the pool will be create with no machine in it, only a maximum limit on the number of machines, and as the user start connecting to the pool the VM will be created, started and provisioned to the user requesting them. Then when the user stop using the machine they would like the system to save the datas and stop the machine and from that point on when the user will connect the virtual machine connected to their account on the AD system should start. Do you know if this is possibile?
