I somehow lost this thread and saw it only now searching for something
completely unrelated. Anyway, if you are still interested the way to
increase the timeout is described here
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1193083#c54. I think it should
be fine to increase it, but I have no proof (test) for that.

Hello,

you are right, with "Enable VLAN tagging" VMs should be connected to the
network via a trunk.

It should work, right Edward?

[ovirt-users] Re: Ovirt - Bonded NICs - using as tagged and untagged at the same time

2018-10-26 Thread Petr Horacek
Just to make it clear, by "make an interface" you mean you created new
logical VM networks, one without VLAN set, the rest with VLAN? You should
attach those networks to your bonding in Setup Networks dialog. Then you
should be able to connect VMs to any of these networks. On untagged VM NIC
you can create whatever VLAN interface you want.

What do you mean you can no longer use it. You are trying to ping from VM1
(connected to VLAN network) to VM2 (connected to untagged network, but with
VLAN interface inside VM)?

Hi,

would you mind sharing the whole vdsm.log and supervdsm.log?

Thanks,
Petr

Re: [ovirt-users] Network and VLANs

2018-02-28 Thread Petr Horacek
Hello,

I don't see how is the bug related to your problem, could you elaborate
please? It seems to be fixed now.

Is there any other problem with Setup Networks other than the bug?

oVirt does not support Virtual Switch neither Network Stack, there is an
experimental support of Open vSwitch and OVN though.

Petr

Hello Carl,

If you did not mark the network as "VM Network" it will be created
bridgeless.

Do you think you could share vdsm.log and supervdsm.log from your host, so
I could look into it?

Thanks,

Re: [ovirt-users] how to move network bridge?

2017-11-15 Thread Petr Horacek
Manual change of ifcfg files and restart of network service (not reboot)
should restore connectivity. Then you should be able to access Engine and
setup the new network there so it will be persisted and recognized by oVirt.

Glad you managed to run it.

Hello Bryan,

I'm afraid it is not possible with oVirt. You can only attach NICs to a
bonding via the way Arthur suggested.

Hello,

when no VLAN tag is specified for an oVirt network it works as a trunk for
all tagged and non-tagged traffic.

Hello,

you can specify more bondings options by selecting Bonding Mode
"custom" and passing "miimon=100 updelay=0 downdelay=0 mode=802.3ad
lacp_rate=1" there.

Re: [ovirt-users] Customized Network Setup?

2017-04-05 Thread Petr Horacek
Hello Charles,

I think you can get your desired network with oVirt.

Create second network external_network, you can uncheck "VM network"
there. Then in Setup Networks dialog you can create a bonding, add
ovirtmgmt on top of that and external_net on top of a 1G interface.

During the configuration you can specify which network will handle
default route. From
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1400366:

1. In the Manager, open a console and add the custom property.
  engine-config -g UserDefinedNetworkCustomProperties
  engine-config -s
UserDefinedNetworkCustomProperties='default_route=^(true|false)$'
  systemctl restart ovirt-engine

2. On each host:
2.1 Set the property to False on the management (ovirtmgmt|rhevm) network
2.2 Set the property to True on the desired new default route network
2.3 Set a next-hop IP address (Gateway) in the new default route network

3. Apply configurations
Two important notes that must be added to the docs:
* This configuration is PER HOST, and needs to be done on each host.
* If the gataway for the new default route network is not set, it will
be IGNORED. Leaving the gateway blank will NOT set device based route
(such as for proxy-arp scenarios).

Regards,
Petr

Re: [ovirt-users] How to Configure and use OVS in Ovirt 4.1

2017-03-31 Thread Petr Horacek
Hello,

there should be feature parity (although it is not 100% right now) with
legacy network, so setting VLAN tags on logical networks should be all you
have to do in Engine.

However, you need to do some extra configuration on each host:
1) install openvswitch and enable its service
2) set migration_ovs_hook_enabled=True in /etc/vdsm/vdsm.conf
3) restart vdsm services to apply changes

Petr

Re: [ovirt-users] [ovirt-devel] How to add ovs-based VM in version 4.0.2? Thank you

2016-08-02 Thread Petr Horacek
If the host was a part of legacy cluster you must do manual cleanup of
all networks. Currently VDSM cannot change Linux bridges into OVS ones
(this will be implemented soon). Make sure that you are adding clean
hosts (with NIC interface/s only) to OVS cluster.

Petr

Hello,

Cloud-Init is executed only during the first boot. It won't change your
settings if you use it later.

Re: [ovirt-users] ovirt 3.6.3.4 and VLAN are not friends

Hello Fabrice,

could you share /var/log/vdsm/vdsm.log and /var/log/vdsm/supervdsm.log
logs from the host with us? How did you configure IP for tagged
networks, did you use the same subnets?

Petr

Subject: [ovirt-users] My feedback on network setting after installing
  OVirt

  Hi All,

Like to give my feedback about how the network interface behaved after
  OVirt
  I have used

  CentOS 6.6 64 bit, updated

  Ovirt stable from the repo

Now after the installation, and configuration you get ovirtmgmt
  interface
and ovirtmgmt interface gets the IP address and everything is fine . Now
  reboot it

result is that when you give ifconfig , eth0 is not displayed and
  ovirtmgmt
  do not have IP address

This stage solved by giving ifconfig eth0 up

and restarting the network, it will give ovirtmgmt an IP now

So you have to do this on every reboot?

Yes on every reboot I have to do it

I tested it using different installation, with DHCP or manual configuration
for eth0 , in both the case the same experience

Sounds a bit like [1]. Adding Petr, this bug's owner.

Can you please check/post relevant conf/log files (ifcfg*, vdsm/system logs
 etc)?

  Giving my feedback,
 Thanks a Lot
 Joseph John

 Thanks,

 Didi

Hello,

John, could you please compare your problem with the bug Didi mentioned
(but i don't think it's the same case, you don't use a manually created
bonding) and if it is not the case, create a new bug entry [2] and
provide us logs and exact steps to reproduce?

Thanks a lot and best regards,
Petr
