So what I noticed is that in the logs it referenced the external IP of my oVirt 
instance, I set the dns on the client to the correct DNS and it would appear 
that the issue has cleared up.

I just use the run-one setup to specify the user/pass and
networking/hostname.

Everything works but the password doesn't.

side note, does anyone know, now that I have this machine with no root
password, how to set one?

I have this same issue with one of my cloud-init centos vms.  I log in
using ssh keys, the root password was never set and there seems to be no
way for me to set it.
