[ovirt-users] Ovirt backup

2020-01-19 Thread Nazan CENGİZ
Hi all,

I want to back up Ovirt for free. Is there a script, project or tool that you
can recommend for this?

Is there a project that you can test, both backup and restore process can work
properly?

Best Regards,

Nazan.

2017-03-08 Thread Maton, Brett
I noticed similar behavior, I think if the memory state isn't backed-up
then the machines won't be paused.
Not seen an option in script to 'flip' the flag, but then again I haven't
looked at the script in enough detail to see what needs changing.

[ovirt-users] oVirt backup and VM pauses.

2017-03-08 Thread Misak Khachatryan
Hello,

I'm using oVirt and recently added backup functionality using this script:

https://github.com/wefixit-AT/oVirtBackup

This script runs every day from cron, but i noticed very bad behavior
with the machines. Script on some stage pauses them, and it leads to
problems. I have NTP stratum 2 server as a virtual machine, which I
added to pool.ntp.org. When machine pauses, it loses time sync for a
while and NTP.ORG monitoring system removes this machine from pool.
And it take about a 24 hours to get good score to be included int the
pool again, then next backup time arrives, and so on.

So my question is - any suggestion to prevent this behavior or any
other backup solution without pausing available?

Best regards,

I think a good starting point would be this:

https://www.ovirt.org/develop/release-management/features/storage/backup-restore-api-integration/

that is running your incremental backups from live snapshots made from running
VMs that are mounted on that VM. I haven't looked into it that closely though.

[ovirt-users] ovirt backup

2016-05-10 Thread Dobó László

Hi,

I like to implement an incremental block level backup solution for
ovirt. I have a few nice idea with libvirt, but i can't manage it directly.
Any advice which direction should i start, what kind of possibilities i
have to communicate with libvirt?

Thanks,

[ovirt-users] Ovirt Backup API

2015-12-17 Thread Manuel Meier
Hi,

we are planning to use ovirt for our internal IT.
At the moment we are not sure about the proposed backup procedure.
It seems that there is an Backup API but not really well documented.
Where can we get the documentation?
Also what Backup Programs support the Ovirt Backup API ?

Thanks for your help

Is there a better way to automated backup (live) VM from ovirt server1

If you are using ovirt 3.5 you can just rsync/backup you're storage
domain and import it with its VMs it to a ovirtserver2 in case of
failure at server 1.

Might be helpful to look here as well:

Allon add comments if missed something
