The battle is lost, installable software on the desktop/notebook PC like a fat mail client will decline in the time to come, only in the mobile world of these castrated walled garden systems people are happy to spend even dollars to buy an App from an App Store and pay money for it - to install a fat client. If Inverse would compile an iOS iPhone/iPad App for access to a SOGo system which many nice animations and designed like a Disney software for little children, people would buy it for $10 each. I promise it! All these little functions which are not implemented yet (like Mark all messages as read) will be the killer feature - Thunderbird in the cloud. That's what people want. I also saw iPad owners using SOGo with their Mobile Safari (because they did not find an App for it). Local storage is dead. Local software on desktop and notebook computers is dead. No. sogo outlook connector is a part, which connects openchange to sogo, gives data to openchange for serving to Outlook clients. No connector in outlook clients needed. I could agree with you, people is more and more in strict confidence with tablet/smartphone and gmail/hotmail interfaces And,for us, client maintenance requires more effort then web application maintenance! Hi.. Im running SOGo 1.3.11 on CentOS. When I add a new Appointment to the Calendar in the Webinterface and write all the Stuff in the description and save, only the first few words are saved. Hi to myself :) and everyone, I forgot to ask about a problem. Accessing my address books via CardDav in iOS is not a big problem (for now). But I can't use my mail address as username, actually, I have to use the localpart - which is equal to the corresponding uid in my LDAP database. So: Server: mail.blabla:8443 Username: u...@blabla.tld Password: hackme, is not working. But when I type user as the username, everything works. Problem is, I setup a multi domain environment. Right now I did not test what happens, if a there is a user with the same uid in the second ldap database. Possibilies: 1) One of us won't be able to access his address book, because ldapsearch will retrieve one occurance of the uid in both databases and the user with the correct password wins. 2) Everything will fuckin' break. For CalDav the user has to type in a very long URL and than use the localpart (or uid) as username. That works, but, to be honest, is not very user-friendly. It should be accessible like with CardDav - just using the mail address as username. The only thing I CAN image to bypass this problem is to alter my SOGo config for user authentication. I activated the option that users can login to the WebGUI with their email address, which then will be translated to localpart--uid, rest--nirvana for the LDAP query. So, I hoped that this will allow me to use my email address as username with CardDav. I'm a little stuck here. For CalDav the user has to type in a very long URL and than use the localpart (or uid) as username. That works, but, to be honest, is not very user-friendly. It should be accessible like with CardDav - just using the mail address as username. The only thing I CAN image to bypass this problem is to alter my SOGo config for user authentication. I activated the option that users can login to the WebGUI with their email address, which then will be translated to localpart--uid, rest--nirvana for the LDAP query. So, I hoped that this will allow me to use my email address as username with CardDav. I'm a little stuck here. In a multi domain setup you have no other choice than have UNIQUE user names. Simplest (and best to remember for the users) is to use the email address as login name. Other examples would be to have the users like: user1_company1, user1_company2 etc. But users will be more happy with just havin to enter the email address as loginname. [SOGo] SOGoEnableDomainBasedUID not fully working
Hi everyone, from the beginning, I used the SOGoEnableDomainBasedUID YES option in my SOGo config to allow users to login with the email addresses. As a test, I added SOGoLoginDomains with an array of two (mutli domain setup), too. I have to LDAP databases and therefor two user sources configured in my SOGo configuration. In both databases there is a user with the same uid. I could login into both accounts using the uid as username and selecting the one of the entries from my SOGoLoginDomains array. That worked pretty well. Unfortunately, as stated in a different post, accessing my CardDav account (with my own user) is only possible with the uid as username, not the email address. I now deactivated the SOGoLoginDomains option and restarted SOGo. Now, I can login with the email address, the pull down menu with the domain entries is gone from the frontpage, of course. Now I discovered, that I can not login in BOTH of the above mentioned accounts using their email address. I only can login with the user of the first of both LDAP databases, with uid OR email address as username. I understand that I could change my user sources configuration. But I hoped SOGo would magically dismantle the given username (email address) into uid (localpart) and then looks in the LDAP databases defined in the dictionary named like the domain part. keydomains/key dict keydomain1.tld/key dict !-- authentication method informations /dict keydomain2.tld/key dict !-- authentication method informations /dict /dict Because, changing my config to SOGo looking in the email address field, wouldn't that possibly allow a user to login with a second email address, thats saved within his account? I'm asking because of this statement in the docs: SOGoEnableDomainBasedUID Parameter used to activate user identification by domain. Users will be able (without being required) to login using the form username@domain, meaning that values of UIDFieldName no longer have to be unique among all domains but only within the same domain. Internally, users will always be identified by the concatenation of their username and domain. Consequently, activating this parameter on an existing system implies that user identifiers will change and their previous calendars and address books will no longer be accessible unless a conversion is performed. Defaults to NO when unset. UIDFieldName no longer has to be unique among all domains! Right now, it looks like it has! Hi, I am looking to upgrade from my 1.3.4 install to 1.3.11. I have been researching it, and noting some issues others have had when upgrading a 1.3.4 installation(i.e. md5crypt issues, bug 703). Looking over the install guide, it does seem there have been database changes(just judging by the addition of OCSSessionsFolderURL in the guide). I am using the RHEL rpms found on the sogo site. I don't run mysql locally on my lab sogo servers, so if any of the rpms perform database updates, then they wouldnt(and didnt) run on my lab mysql server. So, can someone provide me with some guidance on what required params need to be added to .GNUstepDefaults, and how to perform any updates to the database(mysql)?
