Re: [SOGo] Problem with outlook and ZEG - Need help please!

2013-06-26 Thread Miles Lott
If it were not for the desire and in some cases the actual need for
Outlook, then reverse engineering would not be necessary. As an
alternative, if there were another client that would allow for
connection to Sharepoint calendars and would also allow for the use of
existing third party Outlook plugins, then we could use that.

If you do not need Outlook, then the web interface or Thunderbird (with
its plugins) is enough. Of course, working with Thunderbird and its
issues requires some reverse engineering as well - or at least patience.

   Hello Raymond,

I sympathise with you but also with the SOGo team. There is an obvious
hole in what you can do with a Linux server. It's not necessarily that
it does not act as an Exchange server but that the functionality of an
email server beyond simply sending and receiving emails using Internet
standards is missing.

Microsoft protocols are usually very complicated, The SAMBA team have
done fantastically well to make it work like Microsoft NT Server. The
SOGo team are trying to do this for Exchange.

What should happen is a set of open standards should be written. These
would define how the client and the server talk to each other to
handle address book data and calendar data.
The server could then store it's data in whatever database suits it.
This might be the companies own database or one which came with the
service. The client could be an ipad or MS Outlook or Thunderbird.
Whatever, no matter since this standard would be added to the client
just like IMAP or POP is currently.

Trying to reverse engineer a Microsoft product is a bit sad. It's all
reflected glory. Open Office is like this. I could go on...

Wayland.

Can we expect the fix in a 17.0.5 version on sogo.nu soon?

I said I put the new XPI, by overwriting the old file.

[SOGo] SOGo nightlies - problem with Outlook and strange folders

2012-10-15 Thread Miles Lott
Running sogo nightlies on Centos 6.3 64-bit. We're running dovecot

I have deleted the mapistore folder as well as the user_socfs table.
Even if I reprovision everything including dropping of the sogo
database, these folders will return.

The mailbox I am testing with was copied from our current imap system
using doveadm and imapc, and is roughly 2G in size. However, even if I
repoint sogo to the local test machine with an empty mailbox, sogo will
create these folders in the empty mailbox.

Since samba is fortunately no longer crashing on me, I can't provide a
trace but only logs. I get a constant stream of the following while the
mailbox is syncing with Outlook:

Same problem here as well.

Hi,

this morning I upgraded the nightly-built to 2.0.0.20121006-1

I've just upgraded to the sogo-2.0_20121008-1.centos6.x86_64 package on
my test system. It seems to me that this build is severely broken : lots
of missing files, css, etc... leading to a non-functional installation.

Re: [SOGo] SOGo nightly samba crash on Centos 6.X

2012-08-22 Thread Miles Lott
As of last night's nightly build, we are able to connect without
crashing samba. Outlook 2010 is connecting just fine. Thanks for your
efforts, and hopefully this will continue to improve.

We setup a machine using Centos 6 and installed the nightly build of SOGo for
testing in the current code for Outlook compatibility. I edited the samba4
startup script to run samba instead of smbd, and perhaps that is our issue.
Anyway, when setting up a profile using the Mail control panel, I can login and
check name works. When opening Outlook, I login and at that point there is an
internal panic in samba:

After this crash, I have to restart samba for even the Check Name function to
work again. As it is we are not running slapd but are using the samba ldap
server as a config in sogousersources. The web login for sogo works including
email and calendar.
