[SOGo] ZEG install script

2013-07-10 Thread Raymond Potgieter
Hi all, just a question about the Zeg install script. Is there a version of the
script available that will install on Centos 6.4 ? Apologies if this question
have been answered already.

RE: [SOGo] ZEG install script

2013-07-10 Thread Raymond Potgieter
Ah okay. Szládovics, forgive me for bringing this up if there was a discussion
on the topic. If you will entertain my question for a bit longer

1) In CentOS v Ubuntu is Ubuntu considered a better linux OS than CentOS ?
Is this the reason why Ubuntu was used or is it just a preference by the
developer?

2) Can the script be modified to install on CentOS or is it going to be
too much of a mission?

Thank you

Yes, it has answered already, and NO is not available only Ubuntu server - and
tested on Ubuntu LTS 12.04.2.
Sorry, I don't use CentOS/RHEL/SuSE, so I can't fork and test the script. :(

It's very personal opinion of everybody.
Someone likes better the CentOS than Ubuntu, but others not.
My opinion is: we need the the best tool for the actual activity. When I want
to play, choose the CentOS, and other time - when I want to work in productive
environment - choose Ubuntu.

Don't distwar please, I'm just joking ;)

2) Can the script be modified to install on CentOS or is it going to be

Yes, it can. But not by me. If othe one can do it, just feel free to do it -
and send it me for put it out the site.

[SOGo] outlook and Zeg update

2013-06-27 Thread Raymond Potgieter
Hi guys, tried Windows XP with Outlook and getting the same results as with
Windows 8 and Outlook

First error that I picked up on is when creating the Exchange account in
Outlook it says that the( Exchange server could not be resolved).

I have ( 192.168.1.6 sogo.example.com ) in hosts file. Can ping DNS
name and IP and get results back.

All firewalls are off

I can access the Sogo GUI in IE

Any points on this. Has anyone experienced this before?

Thank you

RE: [SOGo] outlook and Zeg update

2013-06-27 Thread Raymond Potgieter
Followed the documents but now I have a few questions

1) Do you need to do any config’s on the zeg after downloading it (just
if you want to test) Is it not a zero config test (meaning that you don’t
need to make changes to it) ?

2) I did the part where you right click on the outlook icon Ctrl +
click and clicked on test. After a minute I see this in logs.

Guessmart SMTP:server example.com, port=587,ssl=no,tls=no,spa=yes, starting

Guessmart SMTP:server example.com, port=587,ssl=no,tls=no,spa=yes, FAILED
(0x800CCC0F)

The same errors for port 25

My outlook when started prompts me for the sogo password, I enter it and
then you see (it almost wants to sync your items) and then Outlook bombs out
with (outlook encountered a problem and needs to restart)

I get the same problem on a Windows 8 system.

Okay this is what I tried now, I created a new PST folder and made it the
default. Now when I open outlook and enter sogo password I get the Exchange
folder and the one I created.

When I open the Exchange folders I see Inbox, sent items etc… I can click in
all of them except for the INBOX.

When I click on the INBOX then outlook bombs again…

Not sure why this is happening. Very weird.

[SOGo] Appologies !

2013-06-25 Thread Raymond

Hi Ludovic Marcotte. Before you delete this account, I just wanted to say this
- My sincere apologies, I did not intent to insult you and your team in any way
but unfortunately I did not get your Zeg to work, no fault on your end. Just my
lack of understanding the problem that prevented outlook from staying connected
to the ZEG.

All of the best then ( okay now you may delete this one)

Really Ludovic? Terminating his subscription? That's seems a bit harsh. I
empathized with Raymond and thought his post was rather humorous!

[SOGo] Problem with outlook and ZEG - Need help please!

2013-06-24 Thread raymond
Here is my setup. (I am very interested in setup but can't get it to work)

1) Downloaded ZEG and running it on VMware ESXi 5.1 (64bit) server.
2) Windows 8 laptop
3) Outlook 2007
4) Opened windows (hosts) file with Administrator (notepad) and added (
192.168.1.2 sogo.example.com)
5) Disabled firewall on laptop
6) Opened Internet Explorer on laptop and navigated to
https://192.168.1.2:80
7) The Sogo login screen appears.
8) Open command prompt on windows system and ping sogo.example.com (I
get a return from 192.168.1.2)
9) Open control panel on Windows system and got to mail, add new
account, MS exchange account, enter exchange server details as 192.168.1.2
and enter user (sogo2) click on (check name)
10) Get error message You must be connected to MS exchange server

What did I not do? I can't get outlook to connect to ZEG

When I don't select Microsoft Exchange server option and only select the
(auto discover) in outlook then it connects to the IMAP settings of the ZEG
and no contacts or calendars are accessible. The documentation states that
you need to select the Microsoft Exchange option. This does not work as
per my comments above... What I missing?

Any help will be appreciated. Seems like a good product on the read up, but
I can get it to work, so I can test it. Accessing the user accounts in the
browser is fine and I can send mail from sogo1 to sogo2 and sogo3 but
outlook just will not connect as per the documents.

I am sitting watching the demonstration video of sogo on youtube and giving
a big sigh!! Wondering how the hell did they get it to work. Must I purchase
a support pack, yes or no. mmm NO if the demo doesn't work, I can
just imagine how the support is going to work. Yes I know the ZEG does
works but I am yet to experience a working demo with outlook as shown in
the video on youtube.

Phew, now that I had the opportunity to blow off steam I would like to
apologise to the Sogo team. If you do have a working product then great
stuff, just a pity you have not found a way to share it with people like me.

Man I am so irritable at the moment I can shout it from the roof tops
no reflection on Sogo... just me wanting something and not getting it... I
am just tossing out my toys, banging my head against the wall and shouting
at ants...

And all because I can't figure out where I am going wrong with the outlook
setup. Oh, look there is another ant...

Re: [SOGo] ANN: SOGo v2.0.6

2013-06-22 Thread Raymond

I am currently having difficulty with the old one... Outlook connects and then
later after sending one test email it disconnects...

My windows (HOSTS) file has

192.168.1.6 sogo.example.com

And I used the (howto) to configure outlook 2007 but outlook still seem to lose
the connection.

I have the Zeg running on VMplayer on my laptop. I can ping the .6 ip but still
have no luck keeping outlook connected.

I moved the Zeg off my laptop to ESXi server and I can access the URL to sogo
and log in but outlook just don't want to stay connected. Very disappointing,
hoping the new Zeg will deliver better results.

Please let us know when we can download the new Zeg.

Thank you.
Ray

Re: [SOGo] So disappointed !!

2013-06-22 Thread Raymond

Dear Andre, there is not mush more I can do but to follow the documentation
step by step by step in mush detail... My environment is one PC running the ZEG
as a VM and there is not mush too it. I configured the PC accordingly as per
the outlook config docs and the Zeg runs as is... I can access the zeg from a
web browser and I can config outlook to connect to the Zeg. The problem is that
it does not stay connected. After sending one test mail it gives the
disconnected at the bottom of outlook... So unless the documentation is missing
a step then this (useful) information is that the zeg does not work...
Something is missing in your documents...

Open your IE browser, go to google and do a search and you will find that I am
not the only one having this problem... There is some useful information for
you...

I am not saying that the product is a bad effort but I can't say that it is
working.

At first I was very excited about it and now like I said, disappointed.

Regards,
Ray

No wonder it does not work if the following is your SOGo Apache

You have configure it correctly, the ZEG works, but it needs to be
configured to match your environment.

And a exchange server is a) Not free at all, b) Needs to be configured
correctly too

The Inverse Team is pleased to announce the immediate availability of
SOGo 2.0.6. This is a minor release of SOGo which focuses on improved
stability over previous versions.

  What is SOGo

SOGo is a free and modern scalable groupware server. It offers shared
calendars, address books and emails through your favorite Web browser or
by using a native client such as Mozilla Thunderbird and Lightning,
Apple Calendar and Address Book (OSX and iOS) and Microsoft Outlook.

SOGo is standard-compliant and supports CalDAV, CardDAV, GroupDAV and
reuses existing IMAP, SMTP and database servers - making the solution
easy to deploy and interoperable with many applications.

SOGo features :

  * Scalable architecture suitable for deployments from dozen to many
thousand users
  * Rich Web-based interface that shares the look and feel, the features
and the data of Mozilla Thunderbird and Lightning
  * Improved integration with Mozilla Thunderbird and Lightning by using
the SOGo Connector and the SOGo Integrator
  * Native compatibility for Microsoft Outlook 2003, 2007 and 2010
  *

Two-way synchronization support with any SyncML-capable devices
(BlackBerry, Palm, Windows CE, etc.) by using the Funambol SOGo
Connector

  * Excellent native integration with Apple software (OSX and iOS) and
Android-based devices

and many more! SOGo and our connectors are completely free.

  Changes from the previous release

Enhancements

  * updated CKEditor to version 4.1.1 (#2333)
  * new failed login attempts rate-limiting options. See the new
SOGoMaximumFailedLoginCount, SOGoMaximumFailedLoginInterval and
SOGoFailedLoginBlockInterval defaults
  * new message submissions rate-limiting options. See the new
SOGoMaximumMessageSubmissionCount, SOGoMaximumRecipientCount,
SOGoMaximumSubmissionInterval and SOGoMessageSubmissionBlockInterval

  * now possible to send or not event notifications on a per-event basis
  * now possible to see who created an event/task in a delegated calendar

2013-06-18 Thread Raymond

Hi all, can anyone please tell me how they do failovers in case of a failures?
If your main server fails with Sogo and Openchange which directories/database
do you need to have a copy of to do a full restore?

Thank you
Ray

I have tried that recently it work really nice and easy to setup and if your
users are old favorite of ms outlook its more easy for them to work with
something like em Client which visualy looks like ms outlook.

Objet : [SOGo] emClient?

I'm getting tired of Thunderbird / Lightning as being, well, old and
clunky and lightning having annoying bugs
(https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=865726 for example). Has
anyone tried using emClient (http://www.emclient.com/)? I tried it
briefly and it seems to handle out of the box calendar / addressbook
(ldap caldav), freebusy, and of course email. I'm curious what
experiences others have had with it. Has anyone switched to it from
Thunderbird?

emClient is free for home use, but the pro version isn't. They do have
pretty aggressive volume pricing so it isn't too bad for a larger
deployment.

Thanks,

Ben

RE: Re: [SOGo] Sogo Web Address

2013-06-14 Thread raymond
Hi, I am reading the howto's and I agree with you, you need to carefully
read the documentation as one product can't be installed before the basic
items are in place.

Print out the documents from the sogo website (Native Microsoft Outlook
Configuration Guide) the document refers back to the (Sogo Installation and
Configuring Guide) in this guide it states that the basic install of the
linux system with MySQL, OpenLDAP, Postfix and Dovecot must first be in
place before you can install Sogo and Openchange. So in a nutshell there is
a lot to be done before you can even begin to think of installing Sogo.

If you just look at the individual items, they all have to be configured and
working. So if you are new to Linux you will need to take item by item and
install them one by one, figure out how to use, configure and manage all of
them. When you are done then you are ready for sogo.

Well this is just how I will need to approach the install...

I always jump in the deep end first but now I have to re-think that and
start from scratch and familiarize myself again with all the items before I
can attempt the install.

Burning the midnight oil and trying to keep the family happy as well :-)

If you do find a complete guide from a-z please share.

Raymond

Subject: Re: Re: [SOGo] Sogo Web Address

Hi Ron,

I've looked at the following:

http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/mod_proxy.html

but there seems to be a lot to learn there which isn't relevant to me
getting sorted out with the address bar change.

Will setting up a proxy (or is it a reverse proxy) avoid the address bar
reverting unlike the 'rewrite rule' that you mentioned?

I'm still very new to Linux, and one big problem I find with it is that in
order to get a particular 'thing' up and running there are countless
dependencies that have to be checked, which have dependencies themselves,
etc, etc. All these then seem to have fragmented and piecemeal help on the
internet.
Oh, how I wish for some co-ordination to it all! :(

[SOGo] Sogo

2013-06-13 Thread raymond
Hi Guys, I got the VM from sogo website with a pre-install sogo setup to
work on VMplayer, I found that if I user so...@sogo.example.com in outlook
then I get the outlook disconnected message at the bottom. When I use user
no 2 so...@sogo.example.com then outlook stays connected.

My question. Can the VM be used in a production environment (tweaked of
course) or is it advisable to start an install from scratch?

Thank you
Raymond

[SOGo] outlook 2007 disconnected

2013-06-11 Thread raymond
Hi Guys, I used the ready to go install and run VMware ISO and ran the Sogo and
OpenChange server setup from my VM.

I added the email account to outlook 2007 and when I send my first test message
I get the Outlook Not Connected message on the bottom right hand side of
outlook. The only way I can get outlook to connect again is to delete the test
account and recreate it but the error returns.

Have anyone here used Sogo with OpenChange in an production environment with
success ?

Thank you
  Raymond
