heap space problem

2016-05-04 Thread Yaragalla Muralidhar
Hi we have purchased a java private hosting with some service provider and
we have hosted some simple spring app with few database operations. the
heap space we got is 64mb. some times it used to get stoped so when we ask
the service provider he said we have to increase the heap space and we have
increased it to 128 mb and now the service provider says my app is taking
nearly 350 mb heap space. I am not sure what is going. does a simple spring
app takes more than 100mb. i have checked my app on tomcat 7 (on my
laptop)and it does not take much than 80mb. I have checked with jvisualvm
that comes with jdk.

can u provide some help on this.

 Since the URL you presented will not be mapped to your /zedlabs
 application, you'll have to make a custom error page in the ROOT web
 application to do this for you.

 Specifically:

 1. Ensure that webapps/ROOT exists (or that a ROOT web application is
 otherwise deployed)

 2. Create your custom 404 error page in the ROOT context, for example
under ROOT/errors/404.jsp

 3. In ROOT/WEB-INF/web.xml, define a custom error-page for 404,
and point it to the resource you created in step #2 above

 Hope that helps,

 I do not know how to resolve that. But I can tell you how you could
 improve your chances of getting help here.

 In case you have not noticed, this is the Tomcat Users list, not Twitter
 or Facebook.
 So here, it helps if you think somewhat before firing off whatever comes
 to your fingers.
 First, read this : http://www.catb.org/esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
 It helps, in a general sense.

 Then, read the Tomcat on-line documentation, here :
 http://tomcat.apache.org/
 (I would point you to the appropriate version, but unfortunately you do
 not provide any useful information about that either)
 Start with this : http://wiki.apache.org/tomcat/FAQ
 and read the first few lines, they have useful recommendations.
 Then maybe search for database and application deployment ? (there
 are even some examples there).

 The general idea is this : First, read the appropriate documentation to
 see how you are *supposed* to do this. Then, if it does not work, make an
 effort at finding out why, using the available on-line resources.
 Then, if you still need help from this list, provide some *useful and
 precise* information about what you have tried, with what version of
 Tomcat, on which platform, according to what documentation. And when it
 does not work, instead of mentioning a message like.., copy the real
 message from the real logfile.
 All of that would immensely increase your chances of getting help quickly
 on this list.

  Dear community

 I developed a tomcat JSP servlet which - say - instantiates a class, work
 with that class and gives some output back to the calling user in the

 My point is instantiating the class ***once*** for every requests coming

 into memory and I would like not to do this at every call of this JSP
 servlet but just once.

 Where shell I put the initializing code for the heavy components? Is
 this possible?

 Thank you very much in advance!
 Fabio

  Try putting an attribute inside the servlet contex in a lazy way, that
 will be in the scope of the whole application inside the same VM.E.g.:
 Object grosso = getServletContext().getAttribute(GROSSO);
 if (grosso == null) {
grosso = new Grosso();
getServletContext().setAttribute(GROSSO, grosso);
 }
 If you want to limit the scope to a single session, put the same as a
 session attribute.

 Hi,

 we used to deploy our webapp in a tomcat 6.0.35 and want to upgrade to
 tomcat 8.0.9.
 During testing we discovered, that the startup process of tomcat 8 is
 twice as long as the startup process of tomcat 6 (with the same single
 webapp deployed)

 My test system is as follows:
 Windows 7, JRE 1.7.0, Tomcat 6.0.35/8.0.9

 Inspection of the log files revealed, that the additional time is used for

Reading the on-line documentation at

http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-6.0-doc/security-manager-howto.html

would be a good first step.

A second one, in your next post, would be to indicate which version of Tomcat
you are
running, on which platform, under which JVM.
