2009-03-26 Thread Hernández Cuchí , Francisco Ricardo
You are right, I cannot open it (using 7zip). But I rememeber I was able to
import earlier backups in other xwiki 1.7. ¿Is there any way to send all that I
have in xwiki1.7 into 1.8? or to see what is corrupting the compressed file. Or
to make a selective export of spaces?

Thanks,

Francisco

Re: [xwiki-users] Error while parsing velocity page

2009-03-26 Thread Thomas Mortagne
Hi Cristina,

On Tue, Mar 24, 2009 at 21:23, Cristina Williams crist...@isi.edu wrote:
 Hello again,

Here's my info: Xwiki Enterprise 1.7.2 with multiple spaces. I just
migrated this wiki from another organization that was using version
1.4.2 (in case that makes a difference in my question). Environment:
 centos 5.2/apache 2.2/tomcat 6/mysql 5.1

Yesterday, we encountered errors on various pages (though not all)
 like the following:

Error number 4001 in 4: Error while parsing velocity page /templates/
xwikivars.vm Wrapped Exception: Failed to evaluate content with id [/
 templates/xwikivars.vm] Error
number 4001 in 4: Error while parsing velocity page /templates/
htmlheader.vm Wrapped Exception: Failed to evaluate content with id [/
 templates/htmlheader.vm]

All the errors had some mention in the stack trace of trying to do an
operation on the database after it's been disconnected. So we changed
the JDBC url specified in the xwiki hibernate config file (/usr/local/
 tomcat/webapps/xwiki/WEB-INF/hibernate.cfg.xml) to add the
autoReconnect=true attribute and restarted Tomcat. That did away
with the errors and we thought it was fixed.

Well it happened again today. Looks like xwiki is getting into some
state in which things start failing, after being up for some period of
time or getting some number of user requests or something. But we are
having severe personnel issues - so don't have anyone who knows much
about tomcat to help us debug. If anyone else has come across this it
 would be a big help.

One possible thing I can think of - since it mentioned velocity
templates - when i migrated the wiki, i installed the default XAR -
then I imported the mysql dump - could this have overwritten the new
templates? If so, is re-importing the default XAR advisable on a live
 wiki?

IMO reimporting the database is not a good idea especially when you
upgrade from a version where the database structure was not exactly
the same.

The safer way is generally to export the old wiki in a xar and then to
import it in the new one. Or you start the new wiki the first time
with the database already populated with the old one and it will
upgrade it automatically but doing it after is wrong for sure, it
means you are working with the old database and the new wiki think it
already upgraded it.

 Thanks for any help,
 Cristina

The following is a paste of the first error encountered (very long):

Looks like the issue is the export from 1.7 which produce corrupted
xar in your case. Do you have any error/warning in the log when you
try to export xar from 1.7 wiki ?

If you want to do selective export you can use

Re: [xwiki-users] Problems while registring users / using dot in usernames

2009-03-26 Thread Thomas Mortagne
Hi Cristi,

On Tue, Mar 24, 2009 at 11:41, Cristi cristian...@yahoo.com wrote:

 Hello,

I have seen that if I am using the register user popup (click on Add User
from the Users screen), and if there is some kind of validation error on one
of the fields I have just entered, the popup just dissapears (without
displaying any error message). Accessing the following link (non popup) works
 http://csp1:8080/xwiki/bin/register/XWiki/Register. I don't think that this
 behavior is normal.

2nd question: is there a way to use dots (.) in the username? For the moment
we are using XWiki for testing, but when we'll switch to LDAP authentication,
we'll have all of our usernames with dots. I didn't look for a documentation
regarding LDAP, but I think the LDAP support is integrated within XWiki.

In XWiki, users are wiki page (with the page name being the user uid)
and XWiki does not support dot in wiki pages names yet.

That say, the LDAP authenticator specifically take care of this and
automatically convert dots when access user wiki profile to create or
upgrade it. And the authentication itself is done on LDAP server which
does not has any issue with dots obviously ;)

So XWiki default authentication does not support dots but the LDAP
authentication does.

 Thanks in advance,
 Best regards,
 Cristi.

Hi

I think you have to change JAVA_OPTS in the script to start the server.
In my case i replaced set JAVA_OPTS=-Xmx300m with set JAVA_OPTS=-Xmx512m to

[xwiki-users] Import/Export application

2009-03-26 Thread PERINAUD Christophe
Hello,

I download the ImportExport Application (1.3) in one of my virtual wiki. When i
go in the export page and select a space nothing happens (only the message
Start by choosing a space to list documents in the lower cell disepears)

I tried to look at the code but with no success. I added an instruction
alert(res.transport.responseText); in showDocs function and the content is
only set to the xml header. The readyStatus is set to 4 and the status is set
to 200 so everything seems to be ok.
If i call the page in another windows with right parameters
(action=getdocsspacename=Blogxpage=rdf), IE 6.0 displays a nice XML file with
all pages in the space in a value tag
I can't find out why the XML flow is empty (and so makes the export page not
working)

Re: [xwiki-users] Error while parsing velocity page

2009-03-26 Thread Cristina Williams
IMO reimporting the database is not a good idea especially when you
upgrade from a version where the database structure was not exactly
 the same.

The safer way is generally to export the old wiki in a xar and then to
import it in the new one. Or you start the new wiki the first time
with the database already populated with the old one and it will
upgrade it automatically but doing it after is wrong for sure, it
means you are working with the old database and the new wiki think it
 already upgraded it.

Now that it's been done, is there any advice for fixing it? I'd be
very grateful for any suggestions.

Thanks,
Cristina

 Hello again,

Here's my info: Xwiki Enterprise 1.7.2 with multiple spaces. I just
migrated this wiki from another organization that was using version
1.4.2 (in case that makes a difference in my question). Environment:
 centos 5.2/apache 2.2/tomcat 6/mysql 5.1

Yesterday, we encountered errors on various pages (though not all)
 like the following:

Error number 4001 in 4: Error while parsing velocity page /templates/
xwikivars.vm Wrapped Exception: Failed to evaluate content with id [/
 templates/xwikivars.vm] Error
number 4001 in 4: Error while parsing velocity page /templates/
htmlheader.vm Wrapped Exception: Failed to evaluate content with id
 [/
 templates/htmlheader.vm]

All the errors had some mention in the stack trace of trying to do an
operation on the database after it's been disconnected. So we changed
the JDBC url specified in the xwiki hibernate config file (/usr/
 local/
 tomcat/webapps/xwiki/WEB-INF/hibernate.cfg.xml) to add the
autoReconnect=true attribute and restarted Tomcat. That did away
with the errors and we thought it was fixed.

Well it happened again today. Looks like xwiki is getting into some
state in which things start failing, after being up for some period
 of
time or getting some number of user requests or something. But we are
having severe personnel issues - so don't have anyone who knows much
about tomcat to help us debug. If anyone else has come across this it
 would be a big help.

One possible thing I can think of - since it mentioned velocity
templates - when i migrated the wiki, i installed the default XAR -
then I imported the mysql dump - could this have overwritten the new
templates? If so, is re-importing the default XAR advisable on a live
 wiki?
