Re: [xwiki-users] User names may not contain periods

2014-05-12 Thread Thomas Mortagne
The LDAP authenticator remember the real LDAP uid in a special object
(1) stored in the user profile and use a clean (2) one for the XWiki
user id.

I thought that may have been the case...surely there can't be that many
places in the code where the user id text is validated? (And if there is a
period then can it not be held internally in escaped syntax?)

In any case, how do we address the consequential issues of this constraint
on things like ldap as per the rest of my msg?

For legacy reasons. A long time ago, having dots in document names was
not really working, since a dot separates the document's space and name.
Plus the fact that users are just documents in the wiki.

This restriction is no longer relevant, except that there's a lot of
code that needs to be revisited to remove this restriction.

Why does this restriction exist? It makes it difficult to map through
to LDAP if we can't map to AD/LDAP username field that contain periods,
such as format of firstname.lastname which is quite common. Also, it
is possible to authenticate to xwiki using email address and password
rather than user id and password?

Re: [xwiki-users] Is the Farm down?

2014-05-12 Thread Thomas Mortagne
Yes the farm was not in a good shape, looks like we have issue with
SOLR again, I removed the SOLR module for now and all seems OK for
now.

Re: [xwiki-users] users Digest, Vol 82, Issue 13

2014-05-12 Thread Thomas Mortagne
myxwiki.org had some issues, looks like ours SOLR module is not a big
fan of very big farms, we need to work on it. In the meantime I
removed it from myxwiki.org and all seems to be ok (except SOLR search
of course).

Re: [xwiki-users] Using parameter macro in the js extension

2014-05-12 Thread Jeremie BOUSQUET
Hi,

To access to velocity variables from your javascript extension, you need to
enable Parse content option of the JavaScriptExtension object.
That means that your javascript code will be processed by velocity when
page is rendered.

Then to share a variable between your page and the javascript extension,
you can use:

## in macro
$xcontext.put(param, $xcontext.macro.parameter.foo)

// in javascript extension
def param = $xcontext.get(param);

Note: I didn't test that, so I don't know if it works - maybe there's a
different way to do.

Jeremie

[xwiki-users] XWIKI to MediaWIKI

2014-05-12 Thread walid yaich
Hi everybody,

The reason is that we need a simple workflow in the wiki, the extension XWiki
Publication Workflow Application not working.

Well, actually i need to move from XWIKI to MediaWIKI, but the most
difficult problem is the migration

Would you please give me any clue about the easiest way to migrate the
whole content from XWIKI to MediaWIKI

Thanks in advance :)
