[USRP-users] Strange Behavior between RX2 and TX/RX Receive on b205

Hello,

I'm seeing some strange behavior on some new b205 we've received. These
units are Rev Cs so they should have the new caps at the receive switch
in order to remove the transient behavior I had highlighted in a
previous exchange. Two different units exhibit this exact behavior. The
plot below shows received power in dB (in this case 10 dB = full scale,
not 0)

The top plot is RX2 and the bottom one is Tx/Rx. I would expect both of
these to be very similar, however, there is a significant difference.
This occurs over all gain settings.

We had done some reworks in house of the older boards with the correct
caps an did not see this behavior. Is it possible that something is not
working as expected in the rev Cs? Any idea what could be causing this
behavior?

Hi Marcus,

Yes, I'm measuring the isolation with both ports terminated. Modifying
the board so that switching is no longer available is not really an
option for us. Especially since it voids the warranty. Any chance of
using a better performing switch in future revs? This one has an
isolation min of 17dB. CMOS switches are readily available at these
frequencies that offer double this performance as well as better return
loss. Just an idea :) It would certainly help us as we deploy this board
in various testing solutions. In particular, at 433MHz, where the RL is
quite poor with this switch ~ 7dB.

I've noticed that the isolation between the Tx/Rx and the Rx2 port is
quite poor at the upper frequencies ~22dB at 5.9GHz. Could you explain
if this is to be expected? Would it be possible to know which switch you
are using? Any way to improve the isolation?

Yes, I saw that in the AD datasheet :)

The answer you provided does sound promising. Would you be able to
provide some more detail on how this is accomplished? A simple example
would be great. If an example is too much work, an explanation of where
the modification takes place and how it would boil up to the user would
be very useful as well.

Also, is there another efficient solution or would this be the one you
recommend?
