[VAC] Winter Frig
The Dometic Frig in my '74 International won't operate below 20 degrees F. The gas won't stay on after I release the pilot light knob. The electric function doesn't work at those temperatures either. It works fine above 20 degrees, though. The '73 Overlander that I had last year worked great at these low temperatures. Any suggestions? Charles L. 1974 27' Overlander International [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[VAC] Re: To all listees - a request (and response)
Good idea, Tuna. It's chilly here but comfy in my Airstream! Charles 1974 27' Overlander International Central Ohio [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://members.aol.com/snowabode/airstream.jpg
[VAC] Re: what brand of tire is good? Room for Radials
What is "enough room for radials" in terms of inches, in the wheel wells? I need new tires, too. Charles L. Central Ohio 1974 27' Overlander International WBCCI 3048 VAC [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://members.aol.com/snowabode/airstream.jpg
[VAC] Re: Genuine Ralph Lauren Airstreams (call out encryptions)
I enjoyed knowing about the web site. I do not understand the objection. What is a call out encryption? Charles L. Central Ohio 1974 27' Overlander International WBCCI 3048 VAC [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://members.aol.com/snowabode/airstream.jpg
[VAC] New Tire Advice/Chocks
Partly based upon much of the discussion on this list, I purchased 5 new Goodyear Marathon ST225 R75 15 D tires to replace bias ply tires. I had an unexpected event as a result. My wheel chocks no longer wedge between the wheels. I use the kind that have a lever action pulling two chocks towards each other to lock the wheels. These new tires allow a space between them greater that the chocks can fill, even though adjusted to the tightest fit. Crimony if it's not one thing, it's another. [VAC] Toilet Disassembly
I've taken it apart exactly as described by the other members. I didn't have the proper tools and remember that that flange bolt in the back was very difficult to get to. I was surprised that the parts were readily available through Thetford and I used their website http://www.thetford.com/thetford_home.cfm to order the exact parts I needed. Also, the Thetford people were very helpful insuring I ordered the correct parts. Charles L. [VAC] Re: Sealant
I got Vulkem (and a bunch of other hard to find Airstream stuff) from www.airstreamdreams.com. They're good people. Charles L. Central Ohio 1974 27' Overlander International WBCCI 3048 VAC [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://members.aol.com/snowabode/airstream.jpg
[VAC] Re: Pull Rite Hitches
I agree with Jerry Thompson on all but one point, the Hensley. I have towed two (a 21' and a 27') Airstreams with three different hitches. The Reese double cam, the Pull Right and the Hensley. Much of my time towing is in winter weather. The Hensley was entirely different from the Pull Right and solved all my problems, once I got past paying for it. Charles L. [VAC] Re: Air Conditioner Cleaning?
I'm curious too, Dan. I have the same air conditioner and will be reading this string to find out more. Charles L. Central Ohio 1974 27' Overlander International WBCCI 3048 VAC [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://members.aol.com/snowabode/airstream.jpg
[VAC] Re: Clearcoat VS Polish...Discuss
Perhaps rubbing of the patina of an old Tiffany lamp is the wrong analogy. Recently, the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel was restored to recapture it's original color scheme and texture. A neighbor of mine stripped and repainted his 60's Mustang, it looks great. The same goes for a polished Airstream. Charles L. [VAC] Re: Pergo vs Wilsonart and Formica
I've laid Pergo, Wilsonart and Formica flooring in my home. I noticed the substrate quality issues that Oliver mentioned. Wilsonart and Formica have a waterproof guarantee that Pergo does not. However, if put side by side, the color and quality of Pergo is a clear winner in my opinion. It's also easier to clean. Charles L. [VAC] Re: Boosting Horsepower
I immediately noticed the difference after installing a KN filter on my 1999 Suburban. It's especially noticeable going up steep grades. The engine seems to open up easier. Charles L.
