As long as you do not really need the bleeding edge development version, you can also install the valgrind package of your debian lenny. It is at the 3.7.0 release. Might get you around these hassles. Re: [Valgrind-users] Valgrind Installation Problem
Thanks for the hint, worked like a charm, but I still think this might be something worth addressing. Re: [Valgrind-users] x86-64bit
Hi, the possible fixes (that worked for me every time) are mentioned at the bottom of the output: valgrind: Possible fixes: (1, short term): install glibc's debuginfo valgrind: package on this machine. (2, longer term): ask the packagers valgrind: for your Linux distribution to please in future ship a non- valgrind: stripped ld.so (or whatever the dynamic linker .so is called) valgrind: that exports the above-named function using the standard valgrind: calling conventions for this platform. The package you need valgrind: to install for fix (1) is called valgrind: valgrind:On Debian, Ubuntu: libc6-dbg valgrind:On SuSE, openSuSE, Fedora, RHEL: glibc-debuginfo If you don't have either one of the mentioned, make sure to include the output of: uname -a lsb_release -a so people can try to help you :) // Oliver -- Live Security Virtual Conference Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond.
