Vchkpw/qmail-pop3d strange behavior - messages cannot be downloaded

2001-01-03 Thread Daniel Kafka

Hi,

we run a box for approx 1500 user connecting via dialup.
They're accesing their mails by POP3 protocol, usually using
MS Outlook Express (4 and 5).

Unfortunately, in several cases the download of mails is broken
after downloading 3-4 messages. From this point, nothing happens,
no networking connectivity is shown and messages stays on server.
After repeated login the situation remain the same.

The only way is to log there manually and delete some messages.

System is Redhat 6.2
Vpopmail is 3.14 or 4.8 (I don't remember exactly)
POP3 daemon is started like :

echo "Starting POP3 server"
env - PATH="/var/qmail/bin:/usr/local/bin" \
tcpserver -uvpopmail_uid -gvpopmail_gid 0 pop-3 \
/var/qmail/bin/qmail-popup 194.213.194.3 \
/mail/bin/vchkpw /var/qmail/bin/qmail-pop3d Maildir

Maybe some magic tune of tcpserver should help?

Thanx, daniel kafka

This *constantly* happens to all sorts of people running all sorts of POP3

100%.

For instance, search through the qmail mailing list and you'll see what I
mean. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

a different UID for every domain

2001-01-03 Thread Roberto Ruffinengo

Hi all,
is quite a year i am running qmail 1.03 + vpopmail 3.4.11 + sqwebmail
0.34b + qmailadmin 026g on a FreeBSD 3.4 box and everything works fine.

Today i upgraded to vpopmail 4.9.6-1 without problems, but now i would
like to use a different user (UID) for every domain, so that i can check user
quota and use apache Suexec for running sqwebmail and qmailadmin.

if i am not wrong, i read some time ago in the mailing list a message about
setting up a different account for every domain.

In the docs i downloaded with vpopmail 4.9.6-1 i didn't find what i was
looking for, any reference, please ?

Thanks,

vpopmail 4.9.6

2001-01-03 Thread Brad Dameron

It seems that when I do a "vadddomain -e emailaddress test.com test" to
add the domain of test.com with the password of test and to do a catch all
address of whatever that it dumps core. It does create the directory and
the files but does not change the .qmail-default to include the catchall
address. Anyone know if the 4.9.7 fixes this or is this a bug?

Nope.

The initial ./configure only had --enable-roaming-users=y

Thanks.

We are about to put the final touches on a 4.9.8 release that
will be tested with different UID/GID for every domain.

You may want to wait a week before continuing, as I'm sure
we will run into code changes.

vpopmail addons..

2001-01-03 Thread BOFH

Hello,

What do You think about inserting some vchkpw stats to database?

For example:

timestamp and ip of last user's log:

record from /var/log/maillog:

Jan 3 22:23:19 server vpopmail[11953]: vchkpw login
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:212.21.123.26

and one more record to database..

insert into statistic_table (ip,last_login_date,login) values
('212.21.123.26','Jan 3 22:23:19','[EMAIL PROTECTED]');

There are some other logs which are useful to be keept in database.

Have somebody wrote patch like this? :) Maybe vpopmail's authors could add
this idea to TODO? What do You think about it?

Strage problem with VPOPMAIL

2001-01-03 Thread Arvind Agarwal

Hi,
I have installed QMAIL + VPOPMAIL 4.9.7 on Redhat
Linux 7.0. Facing a very strange problem.
On installation of VPOPMAIL everything works fine i
am able to reveive and send emails to virtual domains.
After certain time around 30-60 minutes the virtual
domains stops working. i.e. It does not recognize the user and domains any more.
I checked the domains directory in vpopmail, everything is there as it is. But
none of the domains are accessible through any of the vpopmail executables, i
tried vuserinfo also it says no such user or domain. But the same setup works
fine for half an hour immediately after installation, i was able to vuserinfo on
the user, and was able to send and receive emails.
I checked the logs also it says cannot chdir to
maildir. For any incoming emails which are received and it does not recognize
the pop user for incoming emails. I am very confused now since if there was any
configuration problem it should not work at all (but it works for inital half
hour or so).
After having the problem if i remove all the domain
directorys from the domains directory in vpopmail. And again add the domains
everything works fine again. But stops agina after sometime.
Have anyone faced this kind of problem? Any
solutions?? Suggestions?
Any help will be appreciated. (BTW, i tried the same
with VPOPMAIL 4.9.6-1 and the same problem occured)
