vpopadmin

2001-03-15 Thread Waldorf

Very neat!

go to souceforge and have a look at 'vpopadmin'.
I want to implement the ezmlm/idx support but am involved
too much in job related things currently.

so far, 'vpopadmin' looks brilliant and works fine.

when ezmlm/idx support and some minor enhancements are added,
this is a neat administration package for vpopmail.

What about to port qmailadmin to php?

why ? vpopadmin is php based and much .. er .. whatever :-)

You only need the pop3d to run once to manage all of your domains, each
separate domain logs in as [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Or if you have your DNS setup properly as described in the docs they can
just login with user.

Catchall Account set to Forward: How to fix?

2001-03-15 Thread Russell \Elik\ Rademacher

Okay. Got a little unique problem here.

One of the users want to set up his catch all account to forward all emails
to outside email account. But it seems when that is setup, all emails that
does not match with any valid email account in teh domain get delivered into
the josh account, which is set to be forwarded.

So...how do we fix that problem so that if a person set the account as
catchall, and also have it set to be forwarded?

I am using vpopmail 4.7.9 here with Qmailadmin 0.39.

Hi Bill:

I did it, the problem was that the number to put inside databytes was not in
bytes.

I wanted 1MB limit so i put the number 10 in databytes. It is multiplied by
100.000.

Other doubt, can i set the e-mail size per domain?

Because when i send a big e-mail to someone it is delivered back to me and i
have the same quota as the first user so i don't get the message error, is
there a way to qmail send only an error message instead of delivering all
the big mail?

The easiest way is to modify the .qmail-default file and
just put in the users email address he wants everything
forwarded to

echo "user@domain" ~vpopmail/domain/"domain name"/.qmail-default

Qmailadmin allows deletion of default mail account

2001-03-15 Thread Matt Simerson

Currently qmailadmin will allow a user to specify a default (catch all)
account and then delete that default mailbox. This of cource causes
vdelivermail to crash when attempting to deliver messages.

This could be fixed in one of two ways.

  a) don't allow a default account to be deleted
  b) if the default account get's deleted, set the default to
bounce-no-mailbox

Try the new 4.9.9 version I just uploaded. I put in

It should create a ~vpopmail/etc/ip_alias_map file

You need to update your /etc/ld.so.conf file to point to the directory

RE: starting use mysql

2001-03-15 Thread David Crawshaw

Then how about restructuring the add controls like TinyDNS (part of DJBDNS).
It has add-alias and add-host commands to add things to a text file, which
it checks for validity, and then after that, you can type make to build the
database. This would make adding groups of users easy without making the
tools any harder to use.

When you reach about 5,000 users in a domain you will
start to notice it can take 60 seconds or more to add
a new user. This is the time it takes to build the

It is in bytes, not what you specified above. This is from the qmail-stmtpd
man page:

   databytes
Maximum number of bytes allowed in a message, or 0
for no limit. Default: 0. If a message exceeds this
limit, qmail-smtpd returns a permanent error code to
the client; in contrast, if the disk is full or
qmail-smtpd hits a resource limit, qmail-smtpd
returns a temporary error code.

Other doubt, can i set the e-mail size per domain?

I don't think this is possible. But as this really is a qmail topic and not
vpopmail specific, you might try for more information on the qmail list.

 Hello,
 I had the problem too.

The problem is when I installed courier imap, the parameters I used are:

  su lu
  CPPFLAGS="-I/usr/include/mysql"
  LDFLAGS="-L/usr/lib/mysql"
  export CPPFLAGS
  export LDFLAGS

try changing the LDFLAGS line to
  LDFLAGS="-L/path/to/mysql/libs/directory  -lmysqlclient"

Re: Encryption of vpasswd?

2001-03-15 Thread Ken Jones

I've tested converting over encrypted passwords from /etc/passwd
into vpasswd files. You can even use the vconvert program

vconvert -e -c domainname

will convert /etc/passwd users into domainname with cdb module
If you are using mysql you would either want -e -s or
-e -l ( -s = small site (default) -l = large site
(--enable-large-site=y))

I've tested this conversion program on Linux, Solaris and FreeBSD.
They all seemed to work with no problem.

The users directory is for backward compatiblity. I highly recommend
against using it.

If you want to setup
a default domain use --enable-default-domain=your.default-domain.com

Then add the domain normally with vadddomain domainname.
When you add users make sure you add them with thier full email address

Stick with --enable-default-domain and you'll be all set.
