additional variables in open.smtp
Hello. I am using qmail with the qmailqueue patch, and vpopmail with --enable-roaming-users=y, and i have to add qmailqueue variable to the default set of relayclient, rblsmtp and others. i have done it by editing vpopmail.c and changing fprintf( fs1, %s:allow,RELAYCLIENT=\\,RBLSMTPD=\\ %d\n, to fprintf( fs1, %s:allow,RELAYCLIENT=\\,QMAILQUEUE=\bin/myfiletorun\,RBLSMTPD=\\ %d\n, i hope it is possible to add some configure option (--add-roaming-variable-string for example) that will do this on configure. i would do this myself, but i am on this list for a long time and i heard all that stuff about compatibility in all the vpopmail implementations (cdb, mysql, ldap) and i don't know where to change (and i cant also check of my changes are working) the other implementations code.

Re: Closing an account when a customer hasn't paid?
Easy methods: 1.They don't get mail while not paying: 1.remove the line from /var/qmail/control files. it doesn't see it as local, but the passwords and existing usernames/messages exist. 2.move the password file (or dump and delete the MySQL rows) for the domain. Mail coming in will not be recieved and they will not be able to authenticate. Since they can't authenticate, they can't open a relay. 2.They DO get mail while not paying: 1.simply backup the password file and make a simple awk or sed script to change the password field to maybe 'haha' or something. Of course, who knows what encrypted string that is, so unless they are really ___REALLY___ lucky, they won't be able to login to get their mail. They will however still receive mail [useful for 'payment is in the mail'- you don't want your customers business failing because you lost their big contract and big client] and it will queue up on the server and be there when you do get paid. When you get paid, copy the password file back and you're set. Be sure to run ./vmkpasswd after any changes if you use CDB files. On SQL, this is easier, as you can just make an update where domain=domain.com password=haha or something like that. These are valid solutions. THey make sense and work quite well. Your alternate is to maybe place a file in the domain directory. Daniel, Something I would check would be the script you call qmail with. If you were using standalone qmail before, you might have it using something other than vhckpw for the password authentication. *shrug* Just a thought. MySQL passwords..
I switched on the MySQL clear-text password option, and while I can now see there is a clear text password in the table, there is also an encrypted. So, my question is simple: Which does vpopmail actually read? Is it possible to tell it to read one, but not the other? -- Steve --- If once a man indulges himself in murder, very soon he comes to think little of robbing; and from robbing he next comes to drinking and Sabbath-breaking, and from that to incivility and procrastination. -- Thomas De Quincey (1785 - 1859)

Daniel, Well here's what I have and it works. You should also make sure that the directory vpop is in is owned to the vpopmail user and group you created. This (of course) has to be executable. You start by doing: ./filename start You stop by: ./filename stop You'll have to edit this as needed. #!/bin/sh export PATH=/sbin:/usr/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin:/var/qmail/bin /etc/rc.d/init.d/functions [ -f /var/qmail/bin/qmail-start ] || exit 0 case $1 in start) echo -n Starting qmail... echo /bin/csh -cf '/var/qmail/rc ' tcpserver -c 200 0 110 /var/qmail/bin/qmail-popup mail.domain.net /home/vpopmail/bin/vchkpw /var/qmail/bin/qmail-pop3d Maildir tcpserver -c 200 -p -x /home/vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp.cdb -u100 -g501 0 25 /var/qmail/bin/qmail-smtpd ;; stop) echo -n Stopping qmail... echo killall qmail-send killall tcpserver ;; restart) $0 stop $0 start ;; *) echo -n Usage: $0 {start|stop|restart} echo exit 1 esac exit 0 Hope this helps. a way to install chkattach only one place?
Is there a way to install some script like chkattach in one place in qmail+vpopmail scenario? I'd like to install that script to filter out a virus/common spam from being sent to many virtual email accounts/domains in our system. It's quite inconvenient to have to put the script in all .qmail- file in every virtual domain directories. Thanks -Kittiwat
