[vchkpw] qmail-1.03 | vpopmail-5.2.1 | qmail-smtp-auth-.03
Hello guys its been a while. I have been trying over the past couple of weeks to get smtp-auth working with no success. I have patched qmail and re-ran make setup check to make the new binaries. This seems to have worked because my qmail-smtp file is now 32bites larger :) I have also installed the recommended cmd5checkpw. I'm still unable to get this to work, and I'm asking for help as I'm at a lose and really need to get this working. The following is my run script for qmail-smtpd... #!/bin/sh QMAILDUID=`id -u qmaild` NOFILESGID=`id -g qmaild` VPOPMAILID=`id -u vpopmail` VPOPMAILGID=`id -g vchkpw` MAXSMTPD=`cat /var/qmail/control/concurrencyincoming` LOCAL=`head -1 /var/qmail/control/me` if [ -z "$QMAILDUID" -o -z "$NOFILESGID" -o -z "$MAXSMTPD" -o -z "$LOCAL" ]; then echo QMAILDUID, NOFILESGID, MAXSMTPD, or LOCAL is unset in echo /var/qmail/supervise/qmail-smtpd/run exit 1 fi exec /usr/local/bin/softlimit -m 400 /usr/local/bin/tcpserver -H -l0 -R -c 512 -x /etc/tcp.smtp.cdb -u "$VPOPMAILID" -g "$VPOPMAILGID" 0 smtp /var/qmail/bin/qmail-smtpd $LOCAL /u2/vpopmail/bin/vchkpw /bin/true & I am able to send and receive normally if I have my ip address in the tcp.smtp file but if I take it out I can't send. As far as I can tell it does not know how or where to authenticate. Joe PS please let me know if you need anything else from me.

Also checking vuserinfo for [EMAIL PROTECTED] shows [root@tc1 bin]# ./vuserinfo [EMAIL PROTECTED] name: trell all services available dir: /u2/vpopmail/domains/mmz.org/1/trell and [EMAIL PROTECTED] shows [root@tc1 bin]# ./vuserinfo [EMAIL PROTECTED] name: trell all services available dir: /u2/vpopmail/domains/trells.com/trell so according to that it should be going to seperate domains but its not. [vchkpw] mail not being delivered to the right place?
Hey gurus I am running Redhat 7.3, with qmail 1.03, vpopmail 5.2.1, qmailadmin 1.0.5, qmail-smtpd-auth-0.31 I have several domains that are running as virtual, trells.com bazalar.com iq-tech.net mmz.org oaksfamily.com Now at trells.com and mmz.org I have an account called trell. When someone sends to [EMAIL PROTECTED] the mail gets delivered to the trells.com domain new directory instead of mmz.org's new folder. RE: [vchkpw] Adding users
This has been covered, check the archives more :) 1) how are your current accounts held, /etc/password mysql db 2) there is vconvert command that will convert to a usuable format for vpopmail. 3) the archives have an example script you can do if your user names and passwords are in a text file. The lockout could be achieved by setting the NO_POP, NO_WEBMAIL etc flags on their account That way their mailbox will still receive mail, but they just wont be able to pick it up I have some basic info showing how you can setup vpopmail w/mysql backend at http://www.pipeline.com.au/staff/mbowe/isp/vpopmail-mysql.htm Michael. > -Original Message- > From: Joe Oaks [mailto:trell@;trells.com] > Sent: Saturday, 2 November 2002 9:49 AM > To: Vchkpw > Subject: [vchkpw] Password Aging > > > Is there a way to implement password aging? > Our users need to change there passwords at least twice a year. > > Currently we use password aging on the /etc/passwd file but are > going to migrate to the vpasswd and need this same functionality. > > Thanks in advance. > > Joe >

Is there a way to implement password aging? Our users need to change there passwords at least twice a year. Currently we use password aging on the /etc/passwd file but are going to migrate to the vpasswd and need this same functionality. Thanks in advance. Joe

Well I think I figured it out. If I configure my smtp and pop3 as the ip instead of the dns name e.g. 207.168.116.66 vise mail.trells.com, I guess I will have to just tell the users there IP's instead of dns name. Correct, it was still defined in the virtualdomains file, I have removed it from all the qmail/control files, and re-ran the qmail config, this set the default control files, now there is no entries pertaining to mailsupport. [vchkpw] newbie help?
Hello guru's I recently have been tasked with the project of providing a email solution for a project at work. They currently use sendmail with qpopper for some 500 aliases and send/receive a little more than 400,000 messages a month. Now comes the fun part they are about to migrate the North and South Americas mail.support which is currently housed on Exchange (ewww). So in light of this there sendmail/qpopper will quickly get over ran. I have convinced them to allow me to setup qmail as a solution for them, and they have accepted it, woot. Now I have done some reading and implementing on a test box with the following, qmail + qmailadmin + vpopmail + autoresponder + ezmlm (just incase they want mailing list) + clamav + qmailscanner. All works great, and they love it. Now here is my question to you guys, when I create a virtual domain e.g. mailsupport.hp.com (this has the current 500 aliases) and I start adding users via qmailadmin and the vpopmail, I'm have noticed something I hope you guys can help me fix. Say I create a user called lj4050 (laserjet 4050) his email address is [EMAIL PROTECTED], and his login is [EMAIL PROTECTED], is there a way to make his login just lj4050 and not have the @domain part?
