[vdr] Newbee questions about HDTV VDR system with TT-budget S2-3200.

2009-05-24 Thread Carsten Koch
Hi,

I would like to get a HDTV VDR system started.
I have the following hardware to play with:
   gigabyte m55plus s3g main board (nVidia GeForce 6100 / nForce 430)
   with Athlon 64 3500+, 1GB RAM
GeForce 9500GT card with 1GB RAM
   2 TT-budget S2-3200 DVB S2 cards
I have installed OpenSuse 11.1 on it, which comes with
vdr 1.6.0, the xine 0.8.2 plugin and dvb-1.1.0_CVS20080331-1.48.

Is there a getting started with HDTV VDR FAQ somewhere?

My first 3 questions questions are

* Will a new VDR version be released today?
The latest I could find is 1.7.7 (3 weeks old).

* Where do I find the right DVB driver?

* How do I configure LIRC, so it works with the S3-3200
and the remote control included with it?

Thanks in advance for any hints,
Carsten.

EPG data is always collected for the transponders you actually tune to.
The EPG scan just automatically switches through all transponders, which
is apparently not what you want.

You could also remove all unwanted channels from your list and set
DVB/Update channels to names and PIDs. Then the EPG scan would
only switch through the desired transponders.

Well, that sounds like an excellent idea, I'll have a go. On our cable network
here there are loads on commercial channels that we can't see nor will we ever
want them. So I rather get rid of those errors from syslog if possible. I'll
try your suggestion.

Thank you!

Hi,

you don't need lirc, try plugin remote (http://www.escape-

Re: [vdr] xineplayer uncontrolable...

2009-05-24 Thread Peter
You can work around this and continue to use regular mplayer if vdr runs inside
X session. I just used to start background xterm instance in my xinitrc and
invoke vdr in it. Obviously such approach wont work if your vdr runs on another
machine and frontend connects via network.

Alternatively just use xineliboutput. Latest CVS versions work fine.

Subject: [vdr] xineplayer uncontrolable...

VDR 1.7.7

I have installed the mplayer plugin

and read the MANUAL in the xine plugin, consequently modified mplayer.sh
to call xineplayer instead of mplayer

So far so good but when I open the mplayer plugin and play any file (for example
a .avi ) the movie displays correctly but there is no way to pause it, or
otherwise control it.

I press pause and I see the pause symbol on the screeen but whereas playing
normal vdr recordings it works fine, with the mplayer plugin and xineplayer the
movie does not pause.

Anybody has experienced this and more important found a way to get this working?

This has been a problem with all drivers for a long time,

compiler.h to them.
It also seems that it does not need to be actually the

Actually it's not the problem with drivers, they compile just
fine, but VDR will not compile unless the file compiler.h
is added to /usr/src/v4l-dvb/linux/include/linux directory
Maybe VDR needs some include parameter...

Hi,

In ubuntu you have to run
grep /var/log/syslog
and
grep /var/log/messages

Another way to monitor what happening in your system is to open separate
new terminal and run tail -f /var/log/syslog , and in the previuos
terminal start vdr with /etc/init.d/vdr restart. Now you can see what is
wrong with your vdr configuration.

Good luck,

Re: [vdr] Initial release of vdr-plugin-imonlcd

2009-05-24 Thread Andreas Brachold
Hello,

Marek Hajduk wrote:
I appreciate your effort. I have imon with tft display. My device ID
is 15c2:0036. I use now lcdproc plugin.
Is possible to include device 15c2:0036 to your plugin?

Sorry, i don't known other devices than my own LCD 15c2:0038.

I found only follow statement about this device:
--
The 0036 device is a VFD, which means it only takes straight text to
display on the panel. The 0038 device is an LCD display, which supports
bitmap drawing (custom fonts / graphics) and various icons around the
display.
--

This plugin has the intention for graphic text drawing and
( for me importantly ) control icons and progressbars around text area.

Any pure text (like yours VFD? ) should work with lcdproc-Plugin and any
pure graphic-LCD should implement by graphlcd-plugin.

Re: [vdr] any way to highlight available channels only??

2009-05-24 Thread Sébastien Serra
With the remote, when you use ch+ or ch-, only available channels are
accessed. I know it's not what you expect but it's a beginning :-)

 Hi

Is there a plug-in or mechanism anyone's found to highlight the channels
that are available for viewing or recording?

My family complain that when some channel(s) are recording and try to
 switch
channel they get CHANNEL NOT AVAILABLE and would like to be able to see
from the channel list which channels can be viewed before they try and
 switch.

Even though my VDR setup has 2x tuner cards, my provider sends channels on
 8
transponders and sometimes I'm recording 2 channels on different
transponders which really limits what can be viewed.

 Any ideas?

 Thanks
 Simon

Re: [vdr] vdr-xine works nice with HD channels - xineliboutput and vdr-streamdev are broken

2009-05-24 Thread Sébastien Serra
I've just tried vdr 1.7.7. With latest cvs xineliboutput, when i switch to
HD channel (H264), i have a seg fault.
With vdr-xine, latest cvs too, i have no vdr OSD :-(

2009/5/3 Artem Makhutov ar...@makhutov.org

 Hello,

sometime ago I have reported, that I have problems watching HD
 channes with streamdev and xineliboutput.

Today I have tried vdr-xine with vdr 1.7.7.
All HD channels are working like a charm.

So there must be a problem in streamdev and xineliboutput...

 Regards, Artem
