[vdr] How do I listen to a channel's soundtrack and it's audio description at the same time?

2009-09-01 Thread John Robinson
Hi everyone. I've recently joined this list and am totally blind. I've
installed VDR and am using the vdr-softdevice plugin with SHM output
under the Gnome desktop. I would very much like to be able to hear a tv
programme's soundtrack, together with the programme's audio description,
when supported of course. One member of this list very helpfully
suggested that, to switch between the programme's main sound track and
the audio description track, I can hit the 'Audio' key, then the right
cursor key and then the 'Audio' key again. This does, indeed switch
from the main programme sound track to the audio description track, but
it only lets me hear one or the other, not both. I would very much like
to hear the main programme's soundtrack and the audio description track
at the same time, but at the moment, I can only hear one or the other -
not both. If anyone on this list could explain how to hear both the
programme's soundtrack and the audio description track at the same time,
I'd really appreciate it.

Many thanks for any help.

John

Re: [vdr] CAM auto resetting - feature request??

2009-09-01 Thread Simon Baxter

I was afraid that might be the suggestion!

It seems pretty random when the CAM will crash. It is possible it's
only on certain channels, and only one of the CAMs - it only happens
very rarely

So you have 2 identical CAMs (Alphacrypt) (with the same firmware?),
and exactly one of them sometimes fails, right?

Have you tried swapping the two CAMs?
This should tell us whether the problem is with the CAM or with
the CI adapter.

Klaus

I've discovered this happens to both CAMs, so it's either not a hardware
issue, or both CAMs are affected.

Managed to capture the following logs prior to the CAM dropping from
"AlphaCrypt" to "CAM Ready" (with no decrypting)

I've done the usual "select and reset the CAM 3 times from VDR" and it's
back in action.

Any ideas on how to further debug this?AND any suggestions on how I
should configure VDR to send an email alert when this problem occurs? I
could probably hack dvbci.c to send an email or something??

Thanks
Simon

temporal_spatial-vdpau ?

I got xbmc-vdr working the other day - but can't seem to see any
active deinterlacing when using VDPAU Temporal. Other methods such as
bob and weave work okay, but not VDPAU. Does anyone else see this
problem? Pretty useless without any reasonable deint going on.. :-(

Thanks,

Morfsta
