Re: [vdr] [ANNOUNCE] VDR version 2.2.0 released - Celebrating 15 years of VDR!
Hi Klaus and VDR community, Thank you for this release. As you know, VDR is like a wine that will age well ! I use it without moderation :-) Cheers, Bernard. 2015-02-20 16:36 GMT+01:00 VDR User user@gmail.com: Some reader comments in that article seemed to suggest that VDR is becoming obsolete due to streaming services and RaaS cloud services (recording-as-a-service). Those readers seem to forget two important issues: privacy, and availability of service. Add preference to that list as well. Streaming tv isn't making anything obsolete, it's simply another option to choose from. VDR has nothing to worry about, I have no doubt we'll continue to celebrate development milestones and anniversaries. ___ vdr mailing list vdr@linuxtv.org http://www.linuxtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/vdr ___ vdr mailing list vdr@linuxtv.org http://www.linuxtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/vdr

I don't know if it works, but you can configure vdr to start with always the same channel (which you'll never use for a recording) so that it has to switch explicitly when starting the recording. Re: [vdr] Betr: DVB cards and multichannel decoding
OK perfect, So my conclusion is multichannel decoding cards are not necessary for simultaneous recording with VDR (on the same transponders). Thanks. I just want to know if a multichannel decoding card is necessary for the multiple recordings ? A very small number of DVB cards have this feature... Regards, Bernard. Hi Bernard, When I connect one dvb receiver to my vdr box, I can record all the channels that are transmitted on the same frequency. I live in the netherlands, so I can simulanously record Nederland 1,2,3 and all the public radio stations. No configuration is needed for this trick. All the recordings end up in separate files. My DVB receiver is not even capable of filtering out one channel, so the PC gets the complete datastream, and then throws away the data that is not needed. PCTV NanoStick 73e SE http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Pinnacle_PCTV_nano_Stick_%2873e%29 I however do not have experience with DVB-S, only DVB-T.
