[vdr] to record or not

2007-02-01 Thread abbe normal

hello all

wondering if there is a way from the timers menu to only select to
record or not record a program. what im wanting to do is set a timer
to watch a program but not have vdr record it... not sure but just
thinking it would be nice to have a option in the menu to not record
but still go to the program...

thanks

Or use the epgsearch-Plugin and the Switch list.

hello guys

yes i do think this is a good idea...
as with different tuners they could be used for other lnbs like c -band and ku
i could only use my s2/s card for services on a c and ku setup then
tune and record from different types of services...
then each tuner could live on a fixed satellite if you wanted

Checking the frontend capabilities is certainly the right thing to do,

vdr keeps loosing control of one of the tuners. If it happens to be on
the secondary when it looses, then it's the first tuner that goes.I
don't need to restart drivers, only vdr/xine to restore it. I have
also noticed that disabling the atsc epg plugin seems to stop the
problem but the author only has one tuner, so no way to confirm/check
the problem. If I ever get time to upgrade my other vdr box, it will
have both the same dual tuner and a single atsc tuner and a sat tuner.
I'll then be able to see if the tuner loss is just that card.

Be sure to use the latest atsc plugin

What do you use to stream it to mplayer or vlc? Looks like the channel
scanner has done the right thing.
You can check what channels you should get using the hdhomerun website..

For instance for my zip, I get this
 http://www.silicondust.com/hdhomerun/lineup_web/US:61110#lineup_1173095

Also looks like you're using ATSC over the air intead of Cable..

Is there enough bandwidth to stream an HD mpeg2 stream on your network?
I had trouble on mine when I used vdr-sxfe on a seperate box to the
server. I worked, but I couldn't access the internet as all my internal
 bandwidth was gone..

 Hi List and Klaus,

It would be really nice if vdr could support diseqc setup directly in

I don't know if this can be done by a plugin but the current solution is
 difficult for endusers.
Setting a diseqc.conf needs some knowledge in diseqc and it's commands.
A simple interface for creating a diseqc.conf can improove the
 usability of vdr!

Personally I think adding support for multiple diseqc switches is a
more important feature as I've noticed several users asking how to do
this in VDR -- which it unfortunately doesn't support. I think this
is actually one of the reasons some guys fumble around trying to
cascade their diseqc switches. However, not all switches can be
cascaded and so they're left stuck. Can't cascade, and no support for
 multiple switches.

 Hi All,

Recently, quite some people have been requesting for scan-s2 a simple
scan application which has been hacked on top of the scan application
as available in the dvb-apps tree, to be integrated/pulled in to the
dvb-apps tree, after it's author moved on to other arenas.

 http://www.mail-archive.com/vdr@linuxtv.org/msg11125.html

The idea initially was to have a cloned copy of scan as scan-s2.
Now, on the other hand scan-s2 is much more like scan and similar
 functionality wise too.

Considering the aspects, do you think, that it is worthwhile to have

 a) the scan-s2 application and the scan application as well integrated
into the repository, such that they both live together

 or

 b) scan-s2 does things almost the same as scan2. scan can be replaced
 by scan-s2.

What are your ideas/thoughts on this ?

 Manu
