[Veritas-bu] Backing up DFSR Live

2010-01-22 Thread judy_hinchcliffe

I am looking to see if anybody has done this with 6.5.5

I was on 6.5.3.1 and I was using the work around (bpstart bpend scripts,
and registry entry) to stop DFSR, do the backup of the drive, start
DFSR.

Now I have upgraded to 6.5.5 and I took the work around out, but I still
am not able to back up DFSR live.

My management wants to know if anybody else has managed to backup DFSR
live, uneing 6.5.5?

Hi Judy,

I opened a case on this, the 6.5.3.x + registry + start/stop scripts is
still the recommended method, 6.5.5 does not fix the issue.

Justin.

Thanks for the note

Tech doc 326098 says it was fixed in 6.5.4...

And 6.5.5 had info on it as well. So I was trying, but have not been
able to get it to work.

[Veritas-bu] Clearing an orphaned bpcd connection

2010-01-22 Thread Scott Jacobson
I have a orphaned bpcd connection that is invalid (below):

netstat -a | grep bpcd

tcp 205560 0 ms06.provo.novell.c:866 novprvlin0128-b.pr:bpcd ESTABLISHED

I've restated the service on the server end, but the media server still shows
the orphaned connection.

I have jobs running on the media server so I can't restart anything at the
moment.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Scott

[Veritas-bu] NetBackup reporting outside of NetBackup reporter

2010-01-22 Thread Aleksandr Nepomnyashchiy
Dear All,
Is there a way to find out :

1. how many jobs were running at the particular moment?
2. which tape drive each of these job was using?
3. what was the backup speed of each of these backup jobs?

I can see all this information in the Activity Monitor GUI. Is there a
way to script this?

Thank you,
Aleksandr

By server end do you mean the netbackup client?

Is it causing problems for some reason? I'm sure it'll time out at some
point.

Re: [Veritas-bu] Wildcards in Policy-BackupSelections

2010-01-22 Thread Rusty.Major
This is more of a limitation on the OS and the wildcards it supports than
NBU.

You can try *:\*\test and see if it works.
Alternatively, if the local drives and dir structure is static, you can
list the paths as such:
C:\*\test
E:\*\test
in the policy file list. Even though only one path is valid on the server,
the job won't completely fail since it had something to back up.

You might also try this syntax for the file list:
\\.\*:\*\test

The first wildcard is the drive letter, the second is the top level
directory.

[Veritas-bu] Wildcards in Policy-BackupSelections

Hi,

I have some server where I want to backup a specific folder. This folder
is shared to different drives:

Server A: C:\aaa\test
Server B: E:\aaa\test

Is it possible to backup the folder test of all servers in one policy with
wildcards?
I tried something like *:\aaa\test, but it didn´t run.

Kind regards
Dirk

Look at bpdbjobs -most_columns or bpdbjobs -all_columns.
